Vials can chump a dude but it costs one mana to do so. Unlike Visionary, though, it can stop tramplers and fliers later on if need be. I think it's worth at least a test.

Howdy, just registered here. DJ0045 posted an unfinished Bant enchantment-token-themed deck a couple months ago that I liked, and I've been building on it for awhile. His original is posted at this link: viewtopic.php?f=52&t=10306&start=140#p392755

Here's what I'm playing currently:

04 x Perilous Myr
02 x Sigiled Starfish
01 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
04 x Alchemist's Vial
04 x Tightening Coils

03 x Eldrazi Skyspawner

03 x Suppression Bonds
03 x Valor in Akros
02 x Whirler Rogue
02 x From Beyond
02 x Thopter Spy Network
01 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar

02 x Sigil of the Empty Throne
02 x Planar Outburst

01 x Oblivion Sower

05 x Plains
04 x Island
01 x Forest
02 x Prairie Stream
02 x Lumbering Falls
02 x Canopy Vista
02 x Glacial Fortress
02 x Sunpetal Grove
02 x Hinterland Harbor
02 x Foundry of the Consuls

I'll spare ya the card by card analysis, but the basic game plan is to spew tokens and slowly build a board advantage. Valor in Akros eventually gets a trillion triggers and you get just an explosive turn, something like this:

Image

This is by far my favorite deck to play. Lots of durdling and you can feel the bolts tighten on your opponent with each upkeep as you play. Eventually it drops an A-Bomb on the opponent and it attacks for about 20-30 points of damage (assuming it survives long enough). Would love to get some help from you guys on improving the deck. The mana-curve stinks badly, but I'm not sure what to fix.

A few things I've tried:
  • Heavier green investment for Jaddi Offshoot and Herald of the Pantheon, but the mana-base was pretty crap in this version. It needed untapped super early, and then often and by turn 4/5. Maybe I need to give this another shot, perhaps with Natural Connection for fixing?
  • Retreat to Emeria. Solid on-theme effect, but this deck is already super slow, and Retreat was just glacial. The deck is also super-jammed in the 4-drop slot.
  • Telling Time. Not bad, smoothed out my draws nicely. Currently trying the Scryfish & Jace in their spot to help my early game. (Actually killed someone with a Valored Starfish the other day!) Jace doesn't really have much to flash-back, other than the Outbursts.

Lol you know I never thought about it that way but you're 100% correct. And it doesn't require any certain color. I'm definitely gonna give this a shot. Thanks for the advice!

Here's my Bant brew which is basically a stall/awaken with enchants. I'm missing a lot of cards from BFZ, no Nissa, Ulamog Gideon, etc. and a lot of one-ofs. This has gotten me to rank 30 with ~65% win-rate.

What works:
Tragic Arrogance is a great follow-up to an awaken spell - allows me to keep 2 of my creatures against their 1, or possibly .5 with coils/bonds on it. The ramp spells are obviously awesome even late with the retreats, and zendikar's roil. And the enchants are great if I can ramp into Sigil of empty throne.

Not so sure on the mana base tbh, and not loving the sheer number of 1-offs I have. Twin should be Ulamog, obviously, and feels like it wants a 3rd sweeper and more roil spouts (none of which I have).

01 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
04 x Gatecreeper Vine
03 x Elvish Visionary
01 x Tightening Coils
01 x Evolutionary Leap
02 x Suppression Bonds
01 x Retreat to Kazandu
01 x Natural Connection
01 x Nissa's Pilgrimage
01 x Roil Spout
01 x Eyeless Watcher
01 x Retreat to Emeria
01 x From Beyond
01 x Coastal Discovery
04 x Mwonvuli Acid-Moss
01 x Sigil of the Empty Throne
01 x Zendikar's Roil
01 x Planar Outburst
01 x Tragic Arrogance
01 x Angelic Edict
01 x Greenwarden of Murasa
01 x Drowner of Hope
01 x Oblivion Sower
01 x Nissa's Renewal
01 x Gaea's Revenge
01 x Desolation Twin
03 x Plains
01 x Island
08 x Forest
02 x Glacial Fortress
02 x Sunpetal Grove
02 x Hinterland Harbor
01 x Rogue's Passage
01 x Azorius Guildgate
01 x Selesnya Guildgate
03 x Evolving Wilds

Hello all, I've built a fun to play combination that puts token on the battlefield, triggered by lands or artifacts. Check it out it is on of my first builds.

04 x Perilous Myr
02 x Knight of the White Orchid
02 x Fortified Rampart
04 x Gatecreeper Vine

03 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
04 x Kytheon's Tactics
02 x Nissa's Pilgrimage

04 x Whirler Rogue
02 x Retreat to Emeria
02 x Thopter Spy Network
01 x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar

01 x Outland Colossus
03 x Zendikar's Roil

01 x Greenwarden of Murasa
02 x Nissa's Renewal

01 x Gaea's Revenge

01 x Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

05 x Plains
05 x Island
05 x Forest

01 x Lumbering Falls
01 x Canopy Vista
01 x Prairie Stream
01 x Hinterland Harbor
02 x Sunpetal Grove
03 x Foundry of the Consuls

The idea is to buy lots of mana while using defenders and cheap expendable cards for defense to survive for 4/5 turns then drop Retreat to Emeria, Thopter Spy Network, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar or Zendikar's Roil. That's 8 cards for tokens. If they don't show up you have the big guns Outland Colossus, Greenwarden of Murasa, Gaea's Revenge and Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. While Greenwarden of Murasa is not a finisher it can recover a card from the graveyard twice, such as Nissa's Renewal and put 3 2/2 + 7 life for you. Lots of tokens + Kytheon's Tactics rocks.

Mana is the best I could put together with the cards I have. Have play tested against AI very successfully but not yet tested on ranked play. While vulnerable to fast decks and without sweeper or removal cards I don't expected this to travel very far in ranked play. Now it just seems that the fast deck is usually the winner. I got many wins with a RDW deck with about 80% of the cards to make the deck really powerful.

Anyway, this is fun to play. Enjoy. I appreciate the comments.

Looks like we have similar ideas. Your deck has some control built in which makes it more competitive I guess. I though about Sigil but it is triggered by enchantments only. My idea was to have a land or auto trigger. From Beyond is another 1/1 I opted for Zendikar's Roil which is 2/2.

I think Oblivion Sower is not much of use since you are not running ingest cards.

You could try a counter spell instead of Planar Outburst since that would wipe away your own creatures.

@basoosh I like the deck! I don't think you necessarily need ingest cards for Oblivion Sower to work, but I do agree with Moheekan that it's a little out of place in a deck that isn't ramping up to bigger spells and doesn't have landfall. I feel like Drowner of Hope would be a better fit since you can still find it with From Beyond and it triggers Valor 3 times.

You ever consider dropping the Sower for DoH? I don't see how the landfall benefits you (or the processing) so I think you should play the card that has the same cmc, but also works more towards what you're already building; a token based strategy.

woops, ninja'd; didn't read that last post

Basoosh, looks fun. I'd forgotten about that deck. Yours looks better - obviously. (I definitely like Drowner, btw.)

I just recently noticed a card that I don't see commonly played but seems amazing to me: infuse with the elements.
I figured it would be great in an aggressive deck, and pretty much broken with renown creatures, since it gives trample: a citadel castellan played on turn 3 easily becomes an 8/9 the next turn.

So here's the deck that I made:

1 Kytheon, hero of Akros
3 scythe leopard
3 sunblade elf
3 undercity troll
4 snapping gnarlid
3 skyrider elf
3 valeron warden
3 citadel castellan
3 bounding krasis
3 wildsize
2 woodland wanderer
3 infuse with the elements
1 outland colossus

Lands are tricky, siince I want easy access to 4 colors without playing gatecreeper vine:

1 plains
2 island
1 swamp
7 forest
2 canopy vista
2 prairie stream
2 hinterland harbor
2 glacial fortress
2 sunpetal grove
4 evolving wilds

White and blue are just a splash - Kytheon is actually the only non-green card - , the swamp is only used for converge, and the mana curve is quite low; these choices make the deck somewhat resistant to acid-moss compared to other converge decks that actually try to play spells of all the colors.

As for how the deck performs, well: the creatures are just gigantic, a 6/6 woodland wanderer is not even close to the most impressive thing this deck can do - there could be a 7/7 flier already attacking on turn 4. And having to choose whether to block your attacking castellan or not is a miserable experience for the opponent unless he has instant speed removal.

In summary: this is a deck that rivals mono-red in speed and easily beats ramp decks in creature size. It's pretty fun. :D

Here's my problem with infuse with elements, might of the masses and primal bellow are both cards that exist in this format, so I see no reason to go beyond 2 colors because of a single target buff in green

Because it's a buff that offers trample for a turn.. and the buff stays.. so it's more like an instant speed aura.

Infuse the Elements is good on the hexproof 4 drop, I play it in my Array deck with decent results. As people said it is better than other buffs because the PT stays permanently, the combo of having a 7/7 hexproof trampler attack on T5 followed by Chandra's Ignition on T6 is disgusting.

Chorus of Might is not as good because Might of the masses is much better for decks that go wide.

Yes buffs that stay perminatly are sooooooooooo good, man such a great thing everyone runs bloodflow connoisseur over nantuko husk

I'd rather primal bellow and ignition the same turn then screw up my mama even more for a cruddy +4/+4
