I suppose "dramatic exit" wasn't the right word, but it appears he's made a clean break.

nono, it was the right word for sure. People in the Duels subforum are known to make highly dramatic exits.

...and then show up the next day or the next week. It's hilarious.

Anyway, i think he made a promise to himself that he would stop posting here in February since his last posts are close to midnight on the night of Jan 31. I could see him needing to be that exact to make it happen.

He said he checks the off-topic forums once a week as he was stepping back so I don't know if he still does that. There's no 'last visited' tracking for him, I don't know why.

His last post was a funny post made to me where I was complaining that he had come back. I feel honoured :)

Anyway, here's his own words that he said in his last week he was on here...

I've pretty much stopped coming to this forum altogether (it's been 15 days?), but I've decided to check today and I guess I've decided to type out a short reply as to why I personally do not bother to comment anymore. This includes the main page.

-------------------

To be blunt, there's not a lot of meaningful discussion to be had. A small part of this is the pool's fault. The pool is really bad. But a large part of it is the community's fault. What do I mean by this?

Well for starter's there's this fundamental disconnect and/or difference of opinion here with some posters, where people are going to do what they are going to do. My opinions on card choice, land counts, archtypes, etc. doesn't matter. And it's a waste of time to try to convince someone of anything if they are listening to respond; not to listen, think about it, and then discuss. The clearest example of this is the sheer volume of acid moss ****, which is the main reason I don't even bother to check the nga site very often anymore (it has been two weeks). It just makes me depressed every time I check a random thread and it looks like the Hearthstone forums.

There's also this thing where some people are just posting so we can all see how great their deck is, and I have to go try it for 10 games before my advice matters. Or the person is just posting so I can go watch them instead of Reynad or Kripp or someone else I like (probably not happening) on twitch at X hour. I also just don't feel like commenting on another gruul/esper/izzet deck in general. If there's really something wrong with it beyond small differences of opinion, someone else will bother to comment eventually even if it's just to tell the poster their deck is bad.

Then there's this thing where some threads just keep getting bumped without any valuable conversation going on at all. Whether it's the same two people arguing about the same **** thing again (acid moss for example), or it's just random off topic joking and bull****, it's not worth my time to keep keeping up with it, so I stop checking the threads as often as I used to and thus sometimes outright miss things.

All in all, it requires a very large amount of effort for very little reward, and I'm not willing to put forth that effort anymore, especially when I feel that my opinion on someone's decklist doesn't matter to them at all. Since I've gotten over the "posting just to have something to do" bad habit, I'll probably just be back to lurk a bit the next time an expansion comes out.

Stasis is always my first guess in Magic Pictionary.

One day someone will draw it.
