@mega: The list looks great. The only card I'm not aboard with is the single Reclamation Sage, which just seems a bit out of place given that you can't tutor for it. Think I'd like a different powerful 1-of over it; Woodland Bellower or Jace, Vryn's Prodigy come to my mind.

The Johnny in me also wants to play 3 Foundries of the Consules over the Guildgates, though this deck probably can't support that seeing how you need all of the colours.

Yeah.. the Sage was leftover from when Woodland Bellower was in the list.. It's been in and out. It could be a lot of things.. but if I had to choose one, it'd be Part the Waterveil. It makes too much sense in a deck like this.

The gates are there just so Gatecreeper Vine can fix the colors real good.

Another potential Skyrider Elf Deck, another player saying it isn't up to snuff. ;-)

In my Simic deck with all the off color lands.. it can get to 4/4 pretty easily, 5/5 in magical Christmas land. It's solid there bc it can get big enough to survive sweepers.. not so much here.. It's just a 3/3.

Heh, I don't even know if I like it when it comes out as a 5/5 lol. Something about that card... It just always underwhelms for me.

That just floors me. A flying 2/2 on T2 is great. As a top deck or a later play, its still larger (even fine as a 3/3). Not to mention that flyers are great in this format. If the reason is because it dies to sweepers, its a weak one. If you're in the colors, I really think you play the skyrider.

I only like the card in tempo, and only as a replacement to Welkin Tern. To me it's only good as a 2 drop, or at least, it's only ever done well for me when I thought of it as a pure 2 drop.

Resilience to sweepers is one of the main building points of the deck. The thopter cards rebuild and fuel leap, the ETB cards give value upon entering the battlefield, Tazeem and Wanderer survive everything but the white sweepers, Firebird keeps coming back. Skyrider doesn't do any of that.. it just is. Believe me.. it WAS in the deck, but the testing proved it to be the worst card in the deck consistently. If you want it, cut the Sage and the two Brutal Expulsions.. Expulsion has been really good all morning while testing it. The more I play, the more enchantment hate I want. I had two losses this morning.. one to a really cool mono black archetype which I'd never seen before, and the other to a Zendikar's Roil that got out of control. Won about 12 other games though.. with 75% of the matches against rank 37+ opponents. I guess only the diehards are left..

I don't have all the cards, but added a few fillers and I must say this deck is wrecking face so far. I have yet to go up against the ramp deck yet, but I have blown away a couple of Rakdos, and a Temur deck.

Good times for sure.

Did you go up against me earlier today? I faced an extremely similar Temur deck and I got stuck on mana while my opponent dropped an Evoleap, a bunch of Thopter creatures and beat my face in.

Playing 10 four drops is pretty steep. I'd cut the Expulsions and the Sage for three Pilgrim's Eye. That way you can set up your fourth turn with the double-colored mana you need. Plus you can grab Islands for Guardian of Tazeem.

10 four drops IS steep.. but damn is there a lot of power there. I'd hate to cut Expulsion.. It's been really strong. What it really does is give me an out to bombs/planeswalkers.. which I wouldn't have unless I started packing stuff like Fiery Conclusion and Into the Maw of Hell. Weakness to BFZ bombs is what killed the old build.. and granted, Expulsion isn't a total answer to bombs.. but it can slow them down enough to give me a chance to finish. Pilgrim's Eye does sound good though..

@Babs: How has it been working for you?

The wife and I were playing a version of this in 2HG.. and we went back to back Part the Waterveil. The opponents paused the game in sheer disbelief and later sent her a message with only one word, "Lucky..."

Malakir Cullblade, Bloodbond Vampire, Retreat to Hagra, Shadows of the Past, Read the Bones and a bunch of removal (including Languish) is all I remember now. Piloted by a rank 40.

That sounds like really odd mix of cards. I assume it was nice curve of creatures with lots of removal?

It was black creatures that grow. Cullblade grew when he killed my stuff (and it sucked when I wanted to use Evoleap).. Bloodbond grew every time he played a land (had Hagra on curve). Kothophed showed up too IIRC.

I wonder what else lifegains he had for Bloodbond. Maybe that 5 mana instant that kills creature and u gain 2 life or Child of Night :O because only Hagra is too random imo. But this is something interesting at least and i think i will try it my self.
