Yeah, kind of.

I have a list of the animes I intend to watch later. I like to watch only 2 (or 3 at most) at the same time. These are the ones I decided to watch already:

- Suisei no Gargantia
- Steins;Gate
- Rainbow
- Kaiji
- The Perfect Insider
- Zankyou no Terror

Steins;Gate appeared many times at my searches and it is listed as one of the best animes of 2010. So I finally decided to give it a chance.

Finished Parasyte - The Maxim -. I liked it a lot. Definitively above a lot of animes. The beginning and the end are very good, the middle drags a little and loses focus, but nothing too serious.

I will give it a 9. A real 9, because sometimes I am still excited about something and after some days I revise my score to a lower score. This one I know that wont happen.

I just finished Hunter X Hunter and it was excellent.

But Togashi himself hasn't finished HxH yet.

I have finished watching the last episode of the recent anime adaptation of Hunter x Hunter and found it quite pleasing.

BokuMachi is the best anime of Winter 2016.
You're welcome.

I am not responsible for anything that may change my opinion beyond what has happened the first 4 episodes.

I liked it a lot too. My second favorite Shounen. Only loses to Yu Yu Hakusho. Jojo's Bizarre Adventures reached very high too, but below both.

The same guy wrote the manga for both Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter. Sounds like you found a favourite author.

Not much use at this thread lately.

Finished Suisei no Gargantia. I like it. It has some great themes, a good plot (although predictable), good characters, and a colorful animation.

It has some unnecessary fanservice, but most of it is craftily inserted into the plot.

Grade: 8

mjack stopped posting so I don't have anyone to call wrong all the time.
BokuMachi, Myriad Colors and Rakugo are worth checking out this season.

Yeah I've not really been watching any anime and without mjack around I don't feel like I have anything to talk about. Since whenever I last said I watched something in here (which was pre-December going back through the last 20 posts), I've only watched a few episodes of Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple from file because I didn't have internet for one night. That's it.

I mean, I follow like 10-20 shows each season, I just don't get the impression that anyone else does, so there's nothing for me to talk about. The one person I know that does, I already chat with on a daily basis. If anyone wants to talk about Shirayukihime, Osomatsu-san, Four Rhytm, Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut, Stride, Myriad Colors, Haruchika, KonoSuba, Kouya, Divine Gate, BokuMachi, Marshmallow, AssClass, Dagashi Kashi, PSO2, Buki, DRRR!!, Utawarerumono, WT, Haikyuu!!, Rainboys, Ooya-san, Dimension W, Rakugo or Grimgar, I'm here. I'll gladly join a discussion about how stupid the setting explanation for Dimension W is, how Four Rhytm offends my intelligence, which 'matsu is best 'matsu, how amazing PSO2 is, why Saya × Coconuts is OTP, how great the characters in Shirayuki are or why BokuMachi is AOTS.

I finally finished Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple a few days ago, after a friend practically forced the files onto me several years ago. I remember him showing me the first episode and then showing me the final episode to showcase how much growth Kenichi goes through, but after having watched it myself I realize how much of that was lost without the other 50 episodes in-between to actually see his struggles and getting to know the characters.

I do actually like the legitimate power growth that several characters go through in Kenichi rather than the traditional shonen method of "get beat up > train for one episode > come back twice as strong as your opponent" that DBZ kind of perfected. And it's repeatedly pointed out that Kenichi has no natural talent and his only real power is not giving up, so it's not like the worse breeds of action-shonen like Bleach in which the main characters have unlimited wellsprings of power. All in all, I liked it. I don't think I'll watch it again, but I liked it once at least.

I recently watched a great OVA series called Giant Robo. Anyone else here familiar? It's hard to put into words why I like it so much. It takes a bunch of tropes and cliches that would make you roll your eyes in any other show, plays them as straight as it can, and somehow manages to make them feel authentic and heartfelt. Pair that with an excellent visual style and impressive animation and you've got Giant Robo.

The English dub is also quite good, which is really valuable for shows with a lot of on-screen action. The narrator who does the intro and end-credits teasers in particular really nails the tone.

EDIT: Sorry, there are actually two dubs. One is... not great. Ironically, it does one particular scene really well, and it was that clip which made me want to watch the show in the first place, but I'd highly recommend the Media Blasters dub over the Manga dub for the show as a whole.

So, I watched Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV episode 1. At what point was the hype supposed to kick in?
