104.3a is what you want Barney

104. Ending the Game

104.1. A game ends immediately when a player wins, when the game is a draw, or when the game is restarted.
104.2. There are several ways to win the game.
104.2a A player still in the game wins the game if all of that player’s opponents have left the game. This happens immediately and overrides all effects that would prevent that player from winning the game.
104.2b An effect may state that a player wins the game. (In multiplayer games, this may not cause the game to end; see rule 104.3h.)
104.2c In a multiplayer game between teams, a team with at least one player still in the game wins the game if all other teams have left the game. Each player on the winning team wins the game, even if one or more of those players had previously lost that game.
104.2d In an Emperor game, a team wins the game if its emperor wins the game. (See rule 809.5.)
104.3. There are several ways to lose the game.
104.3a A player can concede the game at any time. A player who concedes leaves the game immediately. He or she loses the game.
104.3b If a player’s life total is 0 or less, he or she loses the game the next time a player would receive priority. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)
104.3c If a player is required to draw more cards than are left in his or her library, he or she draws the remaining cards, and then loses the game the next time a player would receive priority. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)
104.3d If a player has ten or more poison counters, he or she loses the game the next time a player would receive priority. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)
104.3e An effect may state that a player loses the game.
104.3f If a player would both win and lose the game simultaneously, he or she loses the game.
104.3g In a multiplayer game between teams, a team loses the game if all players on that team have lost the game.
104.3h In a multiplayer game, an effect that states that a player wins the game instead causes all of that player’s opponents to lose the game. (This may not cause the game to end if the limited range of influence option is being used; see rule 801.)
104.3i In an Emperor game, a team loses the game if its emperor loses the game. (See rule 809.5.)
104.3j In a Commander game, a player that’s been dealt 21 or more combat damage by the same commander over the course of the game loses the game. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704. See also rule 903.11.)
104.3k In a tournament, a player may lose the game as a result of a penalty given by a judge. See rule 100.6.
104.4. There are several ways for the game to be a draw.
104.4a If all the players remaining in a game lose simultaneously, the game is a draw.
104.4b If a game that’s not using the limited range of influence option (including a two-player game) somehow enters a “loop” of mandatory actions, repeating a sequence of events with no way to stop, the game is a draw. Loops that contain an optional action don’t result in a draw.
104.4c An effect may state that the game is a draw.
104.4d In a multiplayer game between teams, the game is a draw if all remaining teams lose simultaneously.
104.4e In a multiplayer game using the limited range of influence option, the effect of a spell or ability that states that the game is a draw causes the game to be a draw for that spell or ability’s controller and all players within his or her range of influence. Only those players leave the game; the game continues for all other players.
104.4f In a multiplayer game using the limited range of influence option, if the game somehow enters a “loop” of mandatory actions, repeating a sequence of events with no way to stop, the game is a draw for each player who controls an object that’s involved in that loop, as well as for each player within the range of influence of any of those players. Only those players leave the game; the game continues for all other players.
104.4g In a multiplayer game between teams, the game is a draw for a team if the game is a draw for all remaining players on that team.
104.4h In the Emperor variant, the game is a draw for a team if the game is a draw for its emperor. (See rule 809.5.)
104.4i In a tournament, all players in the game may agree to an intentional draw. See rule 100.6.
104.5. If a player loses the game, he or she leaves the game. If the game is a draw for a player, he or she leaves the game. The multiplayer rules handle what happens when a player leaves the game; see rule 800.4.
104.6. One card (Karn Liberated) restarts the game. All players still in the game when it restarts then immediately begin a new game. See rule 714, “Restarting the Game.”

Those rules cover tournaments too? Usually there's something in there about game fixing.

No one wants these guys to replay this game, btw. I'm sure it was a legitimate concession in this instance. I'm now interested in knowing how Magic has dealt with this. Thanks, Ender

obviously if a match gets conceded early on it's gonna be called fixing, but you're still allowed to concede if it's obvious you lost...

The reason they don't regulate allowing people to concede or ID, is because they can just play the game out and lose intentionally, and much harder to regulate and wastes a lot of time. MaRo and Tabak have both discussed this on their blogs. The only thing that is not allowed is offering someone a bribe for a concession, or even asking for it with promise of incentive, or collusion, but obviously collusion has to be proved.

With the blocks that were declared dieverse1 was going to be at 3 and his creatures would die while myn lived. His gideon would be dead. And I would also be playing a piano and kiran nalarr. The freeze took place on his turn and he was the one to tell me his screen had froze and he could not pass priority. With all this accounted for he conceded to me and we moved to game 2. It was settled and I'm still really annoyed with infamous trying to lawyer the rules. Everyone who watched it excepted it for what it was but him who started pulling rulings out his chamber of secrets.

1st thing first...love piano and kiran nalaar.

2nd...it doesn't matter what infamous, you, me, or Santa Claus thinks. The rules were set and are administered by Hakeem. In this tournament, he is God, the creator, the Alpha and Omega. Period. Nobody else really matters as far as rules issues are concerned.

If you are annoyed with someone, I'd suggest getting a beer and :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:, 'cause it's more efficient than getting upset about it. It was a valid discussion, but ultimately irrelevant unless Hakeem decides it isn't.

3rd, pretty sure the official rules aren't in a chamber of secrets. That is accepted, not excepted.

Looking forward the next set of matches!

6) Disconnects - I'm not going with shades of grey on this issue because it's a sticky one. If you DC, you get a game loss. Black and White is easier to manage and avoids petty arguments. If you lose a game because of a thunderstorm, that's just bad luck. Accept it and move on.

Hi may i ask how it looks like with mana flooding or not getting enough mana?

I tested several of the multicolored (3 up to 4 mana) decks on the PC (rank 30-40, about 10 games) from this tournament and literally got destroyed in many games (either due mana - had a game where i got down to 0 mana, whereas the opponent had 13 mana outside, or often too slow against aggro decks - actually i lost all games against them so far)

Also talked with several players and if you check the steam forum many players have a lot of issues with mana in the PC version, its far worse than at paper magic

Feel free to watch any of my tournament videos on my you tube channel. I almost got mana problems every game. You need to play some mana fix in this game when you can, which becomes painfully clear to me in this tourney. When the tournament is over I swap the Visionary for the Gatecreeper.

Hello maybe i will do that, though i never had success with 3 mana decks in a long way (at the PC), thats why im so wondered because quite a few players are using them in this tournament

Even with aggro decks i have issues in many games regarding mana, thus my opinion is that 2 mana decks are the most compatible in the current meta (and you all probably agree that ramp decks are considered as most constant deck, although doesnt save you from getting flooded sometimes - but fixes the issue with not drawing enough mana!)

I guess it's what you prefer. I prefer three colours in control at least cause that way you can include more solutions. Three colours can work just fine, look at Infamous. :-)
For aggro I agree that you shouldn't play more than two. Usually they play less lands and if you play three colours... That will become a pain.

Hey Hakeem, could you also post the standing when you have time? I found that quite interesting. :-)

Man, not sure what you are asking...but I'll take a stab at it.

These decks were made by persons of different skill levels/play levels. They are not an accurate representation of the meta, but were designed to compete in a tourney. Surprisingly, out of 16 decks, there is only 1 aggro-ish deck and only 1 Gruul ramp. It has been stated a few times that a RDW would probably clean up in this tourney with all the slow control going around.

This tourney is also played on Xbox One, so the supposed mana issues might not be the same. I play on STEAM, and I have read only a few people saying this...and most of those posts are old. I'd venture to say they don't know how to make a solid manabase or they are used to "stacking" their mana in paper, which cannot be done outside of the cardboard game. There is natural variance in drawing due to using an RNG, but it isn't too bad.

I don't think top seed can get a bye here, it's usually bottom seed, if memory serves.

Peepy! PM me your gamertag or friend me on Xbox. Black Barney is the gamertag. I can't play until Thursday evening at the earliest. And that's pushing it cuz I'm flying home that night. So let's say evenings starting Friday after 7pm est, except Mondays. It'll be fun !

Westaine send me a friend request. I have a communication ban on XBL for another week so I can't send you messages.. but I can receive them here (I get an email notification on my phone) and I get Xbox messages on my phone through Smartglass. Just say whatever time is good for you.. I'm pretty open. Only this afternoon is taken.
