That was a bit painful to watch... I feel sorry for Mobius :/ Good job on building and piloting your deck though, King! I've been testing it lately and it's really fun to play.

Was the first game a disconnect?

Irrelevant information is irrelevant. It's been settled

I'm going to do the math on the pairings later tonight sometime and get them into Covert's hands so he can do a preview article. I'll post them tomorrow.

Not that I really care, but you would have hit his face with 3 2/2's that you could give +1/+1 with the evolving wilds/retreat combo. The Engineer attacks Gideon if I remember correctly. And Dieverse blocks two other creatures, maybe more depending on when the game freezes. So maximum damage was 9 and he was on 16...

I guess what Barney tries to say, whoever freezes or disconnect loses that game, so it's not a question of having it settled because the rules are very clear about this, making it relevant information.

Now, with this being said, I found the match very tense and exciting. I didn't think Dieverse would have a chance against your deck but at a moment I thought otherwise. Good games!

Yeah exactly I was curious if the person that lost had the game freeze issue. The rules say you can't concede. You guys can't exactly "settle it" especially now as we're approaching elimination and pairings are the main factor if you place in the money. My buddies and I used to manipulate this stuff all the time.

I'd think conceding is ALWAYS an option. I've got no dog in this fight, but seriously, conceding shouldn't need to be in the rules, it's an obvious option.

@DJ0045 I think that game should be counted as a draw because both players invested their time to play 3 games; but I also think it's a software issue and not the fault of either player so it could also just not count at all. It is known that players would pause out the game in Duels, it's happened often enough in the past and could warrant debate. Usually the upset/losing player would pause out and stay the longest or leave and freeze your game and I think the rules were structured around this too much. Again, this is my opinion and I won't want to be told I should shut up and run my own tournament because the 3 folks above me voiced their views also.

@Hakeem,
Since I'm reluctant in turning on my Xbox in fear of my adapter burning up again, is it allowed to have another person take my spot and pilot my deck? Dieverse1 has reached out to me about this but he is currently in the tournament already and would have 2 shots at top 8 which is unfair. It's my opinion that someone who wanted to partake in the tournament but could not could take my spot, like "SolidBozz". Passing the baton seems fair to me. Also, my slot could just count as a concession but that would skew the results. I just cannot stomach CGB making top 8 with a 10-0 score or 5 point lead, the protruding nail always should get hammered a bit.

DJ, just so you know, conceding is against the rules in money magic tournaments. I know exactly why too. It's rock paper scissors. In this case it's obviously fine but this is an elementary thing to abuse.

Was the game freeze caught on camera ? This gets around this issue anyway. I'm not contesting the result of the match, btw. I'm legitimately curious since this could easily happen to me.

I'm totally fine with someone piloting Geminis deck as long as it’s not another player that's still in this. That should include Bliss :)

I find that shocking. I thought people scooped all the time. I know I've seen it in videos of paper play. Were all of those videos non-sanctioned gameplay? Might be... If so, I had no idea.

I would offer to pilot gemini's deck, and if it comes down to it, I can, but I worry I'll play it badly. It's almost polar opposite to the types of strategies I use, and feel comfortable playing. I would almost need Gemini in my ear for the entire game, lol.

People scoop outside of organized game play. In cash tournaments they have to be super careful about it. If result is obvious they can do it. If they do it, and it's witnessed, and result isn't obvious, they are playing with fire.

Gemini wants to be in your ear anyway so that’s perfect. I wish I could do it but I'm playing. I like that deck and would love for Gemini to tell me how to misplay it

That was experience in top competitive play 10-15 years ago, things could be different now, but like I said my crew used to be able to manipulate pairings. It wasn't hard.

BTW, I bet Mobius is dying that he can't post here for this, lol. He's too busy rear ending cars

Wow Infamous that really sucks. Off course I have no problem with someone else piloting your deck but it's your baby man... Is there really no other solution? Can't you borrow an adapter from a friend or something?

Barney this is completely different now, people scoop or ID all the time, you just not allowed to offer someone an incentive to scoop, but you may concede at any time. It's in the rules. If I weren't so lazy I'd find the rule # for you.

If everyone is actually worried about this, ask them to replay that 1 game, IMO.
