Kothophed would have lost me life even faster at worst, traded with one crusher and lost 1 life at best with another card draw. The only thing in that deck that dealt with Gaea's/Crusher is Fleshbag, and he wouldn't have had 1 creature on the board if I even had found it. As I'd said in the vid, at a point I just gave up. I'd have cast Koth at best given the cards seen.
If you just give up whenever you see Moss hit the stack, you'll lose a heck of a lot of games you could have had a chance at winning.
Earlier today, when I was playing a Mono-Blue deck on the draw, my GW Ramp opponent went T3
Nissa's Pilgrimage T4 Moss T5 Gaea's Revenge. If you were to describe a seemingly perfect example of how broken Moss is, a Mono-Blue player going in to turn five with three lands in play against a Ramp opponent with seven lands and Gaea's Revenge would seem ideal.
I won that game. Played to my outs - in this case, I had Jace and successfully dug for Willbreaker who stole his T7 Oblivion Sower, who can block Gaea's Revenge.
Same deck, different opponent, this time RG Ramp. I kept a three land hand on the play, then none of the next six cards on top of the deck were land. My opponent played T4 Moss and T5 Moss - and I only had a counterspell for one. My opponent resolved Ulamog.
I won that game too.
And a third game where my opponent resolved T5 Plated Crusher. And a fourth, very long, game against another RG Ramp opponent. I've only played eleven games total with the deck, but even though Ramp isn't a particularly favorable match-up for it (it's better against mid-range and control), it's 4-0 against Ramp so far and 2-0 against another couple of control decks running Moss.
The point of this isn't to boast, but rather that Moss is beatable if you build decks with enough lands (and that's not necessarily a ton - this Mono-Blue deck has 22, but also has card draw, card selection and 3x of the 3 CMC thopter than finds you a basic land), some kind of a plan against the top end threats Ramp decks play, and don't try to punch Moss with your chin.
