Totally off topic but Splinter19cc's avatar reminds me of Lauren Kelly (commentator/ reporter for NXL paintball)

Lady luck was indeed on CGB's side. I'm playing his deck (partially because I might play it in round 4), and I just keep getting flooded with land after land after land. It's almost as if his hand was cherry picked. To get the single card (Rolling Thunder), that you NEEDED in that particular matchup consistently over the course of 2 games...I mean SEVEN Rolling Thunders total were cast to my knowledge...and EIGHT had Murasa not been bugged. Just insane...

Ok so the match between myself and Danny will happen Saturday at 08 AM EST. I will off course record and upload soon after. I don't think Danny will broadcast but I'm not sure. Sorry for the delay people. With my work, his work, different time zones and xbox live messages that didn't came through... all those factors made it a pain to find a time and date. Looking forward to this mirror match and hopefully RNGesus will bless me like CGB. :) CGB is a great player, but damn how lucky can you get? I guess he bribed Hakeem's servitors.... :D

CGB definitely hit some lucky draws. I still think Hakeem could have squeaked out game 2.

I said it in Hakeem's YT video of the match. I really think he overextended at the end of game 2 (He played out Pia and Kiran when he had lethal on board). I understand his position in wanting to close out the game based on CGB having individual removal (not sweeper), but he was already far ahead on board and behind in his hand. I really think he needed to ride the train he was on and make CGB answer the board first before continuing to add more threats (I don't think CGB had any life gain in the deck?). That way Hakeem would catch up his hand in the process and have Pia in case of Radiant Flames/Rolling Thunder.

I think the part that hurt the most though was Hakeem actually foreshadowing the sweeper as he cast Pia. Man that hurt the heart. I felt for ya bro.

G/L in the next round!

Your absolutely correct (I didn't check his list before posting ). With CGB's draws, he probably would have had it too. Never the less, I still think I would have played it differently.

hahaha

Dang, I missed it live, finally...just saw the vid from CGB side, gonna check Hakeem's

Sweet jesus, that was cruel hahaha...and btw, I never, never liked Servitors, and never go in my thopter decks just because they give the opponent one more draw to find the sweeper that wrecks you up...as so nicely demonstrated, tnx :V ... no amount of reasoning on my part would have been more graphic than those games

As they say in paper Magic, better lucky than good.

CGB played the numbers, thinned his deck appropriately, and it payed off. Free draws from Ruined Servitors were key, as was over extension in game 2 by Hakeem.

It was probably the match of the week, if not the tourney.
An incredible showing of skill on both sides, good plays and bad, and some Vegas-style luck.

GGs!

I still think playing out Pia/Kiran is correct in game two because it plays around Rolling Thunder. It makes it so only Radiant Flames beats me and I knew he didn't have it. Sometimes you just have to push all your chips into the middle and make your opponent have it and he did.

I think so too...it's easy to say afterwards, but there, in that moment, I think the correct decision was hoping for CGB not having another crazy topdeck...the odds were 2/39 in his favor  still way less if you count the previuos Thunder...that was insane

Feel bad for Wagner getting called such a luckbox when he's shown he's one of the most devoted and consistently good players here. I was rooting for Hakeem too but cmon

Good call elk on splinters avatar. I prefer his avatar tho, more exotic, more real.
