100% disciple. Card is perfectly playable in the Gray Merchant decks.

I would like to join Filo in pointing out that blue has been cut off.

There were two blue cards and a blue/black card last pack. This could be an imbalanced pack.

I only saw a single, multicolor blue card. Then a few borderline playable or better green, black, and white cards. Then some chunks of garbage that we will not speak to the origin of.

Aqueous Form and Lost in a Labyrinth... not very good indicator that blue is opened.

I still blame garbage signaling. We're getting black from the right so we can prioritize blue from the left. I guess. Which is to say jman is right but now we strategize toward salvaging.

Theros is actually a pertty garbage set in this regard. I've seen drafts where there will be 3 packs with 0 red cards, then 2 packs with 8 red cards. True story, that one. And I've seen other, similar circumstances.

There's also the issue where a lot of the cards have synergistic power. For example, Aqueous Form is a good card... if you manage to get multiple Flamespeaker Adepts and other blue/red aggro cards. The green heroic trigger spell is good... if you're green heroic.

I've been doing well by using my first four picks to decide an archtype, then force that archtype no matter what, turning blinders on to any other signals. Its led me to a number of the "3 gary" draft decks because you just cut black in pack one, and get shipped the goods in pack 2.

I'm probably the only person who likes that stupid Pyxis, but disciple is the choice here. I've had a lot of good results from Disciple of Phenax: it doesn't take much devotion to hit relevant cards with decent reliability.

CG knows me well enough to know I wouldn't pick some random off color jank.

It's not off color. We haven't settled on a second color yet. We have just as many blue cards as we have red cards and blue has been completely absent from the past few packs, so I see no reason why we would ignore red cards.

As for whether or not it's jank, I do admit Borderland Minotaur has disappointed me slightly in this format, but 3/3 for 4 are usually playable (wasn't that your argument for picking the sell-sword in the zendikar draft?), so a 4/3 for 4 certainly isn't jank.
