Mana curve is about more than playing on curve, it's about playing multiple spells per turn in the later turns. I can cast Bolt and drop a creature one turn earlier than you can which is much better for the deck's tempo.

Also, instant vs. sorcery is a thing. I'm sure Touch isn't horrible but I prefer the Bolts.

By the time we're looking to end the game.. I don't think we're going to have enough of a hand to be casting two spells per turn in most cases. Instant speed is certainly a thing.. the blowouts is can provide vs Aura decks is significant. I've tested Twin Bolt at your behest in the past.. and it certainly wasn't bad.. but I felt Touch offered more, and the last remaining Twin Bolts became the 2x Perilous Myr in my deck. I never cut Touch completely.. bc it does so much that I feel I need. I mean.. I have ended so many games with a Touch of the Void burn finish.. I can't even tell you.. Especially post sweeper..

OK, thanks to you both for your arguments. As a fair and impartial judge, I'm happy to award Hakeem as the clear winner of this debate. Well done.

Impartial my ass. Hakeem's argument is based on far less in game research, and fundamentalism.. rather than actual play testing. Good job being a stooge, or Canadian loyalist.. or both.

I made two crucial mistakes to his one (his first cost him the first match), but it was also a very even match. Final match I came back from 20 - 5 brought him down to killing range and then promptly screwed myself on a beginner's mistake. I think I still lose match three as my mistake cost me only one turn - so unless the game ended with my winning card face down on the top of my deck it was going to be a loss (that said, my winning card existed, I run multiple copies of it, and I had seen half my deck, so forever in my mind it will always have been my next card, lol). Game 2 on the other hand, my mistake was far more serious. No idea who wins that one if I don't screw up so badly. Either way, squider played damn near flawlessly, and has a very nice deck IMO. Good games.

I hope Hakeem sets up the round 3 pairings right afterwards and doesn't tease us into tomorrow.

Believe it or not, I've actually played this deck quite extensively. Definitely in the 30-50 game region.

Bolt and Touch do different things. They're both fine, I'm sure. I still prefer Bolt.

Watch it sunbeam, ageism is a thing. But you are never too old to play games. :D

I'm right up there behind you. In the party last night, our friends here were nice enough to point out that I was older than CGB.

I hope I play games forever too. :)
