If the prize pool gets any larger we definitely need to split the money up with a skew towards to top player. I mean if I won the tournament I would feel greedy just taking any $140+ in prizes. If I won I'd also through some of that money back into another tournament, but I cannot say the same for others.

There are still more offers of donations coming in, I have to decide how I'm going to handle it. I may have to set up a PayPal or something to make the handling of prizes easier. That will be going on in the background and I'll post when it's finalized. Just play to win every round.

Wasn't it $100 for first place and $40 for second place until now? Not that I really care cause I don't see myself getting there. But I guess it would make perfect sense to divide the prizes more when the prize pool gets bigger.

I don't know the total prize pool but regardless, it should all go to top three, in my opinion. Losers of semi-final bracket play off for 3rd place.

usually you try to split up the prize pool 50%, 30% and then 20%.

Assuming, you have 100$ in xbucks, $40 cash and the rest in-game currency...
Ideally, you would give a $50 Xbox Credit, $40 cash to 1st. $50 Xbox Credit to 2nd and the in-game currency to 3rd. Giving the in-game currency to the last top finisher makes sense since they 'need the most help'

Anyway, I already regret posting this and i'm not even done yet. Now everyone and their mother is going to chime in with what they think makes sense.

Here is an idea. In the Pro Tour $ is split up this way.
1 $40,000
2 $20,000
3-4 $12,500
5-8 $10,000
9-16 $5,000
17-25 $2,500
26-50 $1,500
51-75 $1,000
76+ $0

Perhaps the top 16 get $0 each for playing, top 8 gets $5 each for making it, top 4 gets $10 each, 2nd place gets $20, and 1st place gets $40. After, when you account for more money being added to the pool just evenly disperse it or add it up for a future tournament with a larger money pool. This seems like the fair way to do things considering that Wizards also has not patch the plentiful bugs (Greenwarden of Murasa) in the game. Imagine losing to a bug and not winning the $140 and the winner just stuffs it under the mattress...that's dirty.

So, use the $40 and divide it up for the players who make it to top 8. Then, take -$10 out of your $50 donation and give it to the 1st place winner as a $40 prize. -$20 out of the remaining $60 and give it to the 2nd place winner. Lastly, give $10 to each of the top 4 players.

Lastly, instead of doing the work of setting up paypal accounts just use Xbox Digital Gift Card and adjust the cost.

How about we just play the games? Donations could come in at any time so the actual payout is always subject to change.

I am tongue-in-cheek with my post. I find it humorous. Hakeem's got this, and he's already got all the help on his speed dial he needs.

Win games, win tourney, have fun, and increase the playerbase for our favorite game. That's what is important here. The money is a pittance, in the end.

Exactly, this is about the health of the game and growing the community. The prize is the gravy here.

Hell, the only thing this tourney is doing is making me want to get the cards on the Xbone so I can play in the next one.
