I wasn't going to say anything about that...but, yeah. Double mana on everything relevant just sucks. And Hakeem came out rocket-like both games and never gave him a chance.

But, 4 more rounds IIRC. He can still redeem himself.

We played a few games after and I won. I knew the problem with the deck was the mana base. My hand game ome was good but on turn five the chief and the bolt ended me. Game two I kept 2 lands on the draw having a decent hand if I Drew any land and I just didn't . Variance happens and unlike rager mega I have a solid chance going forward as hakeem was my worst matchup

Well.. you have no reason to rage bc you didn't really lose to Hakeem.. your garbage mana made the deck lose to itself, and bad mana is a sign of bad deck building. My deck didn't lose to itself.. I lost those games, with two crucial misplays that were tide turners in each match.. hence why I was 'raging'. I really wasn't even raging.. it was more like embarrassed, and ashamed. But regardless.. chin up.. there a lot more Magic to be played.

I'm so glad this tournament is a thing. Community matters.

Look at the hour long video I posted and fast forward to 14:00. The correct play from my opponents end would have been to select my 4/4 Land-Creature and have me sacrifice the Eldrazi Scion along with Omnath. He most likely wanted for me to keep the Eldrazi Scion and force me to lose the Omnath and 4/4 Land-Creature. He didn't read the clause about "nonland" permanent which my Land-Creature is not. Assuming he was about to make the correct play, I should've sac'd the Eldrazi Scion to save Omnath. Ulamog would exile Omnath and 4/4, I would be short 1-mana, I should've fetched for 2 Basics before Ulamog attacked, and a top deck land would be need for the win.

Is Tragic Arrogance bugged? Could my opponent target select my Land-Creature?

You can't select land creatures with Tragic Arrogance. Both it AND Planar Outburst are weak to land creatures.

If that is correct, then it is bugged. Tragic Arrogance doesn't target anyway and the rulings tell you if something is multiple types it can count as either one for selection purposes.

I think it's bugged unless he wanted me to keep a 4/4 AND 1 extra mana...which I cannot imagine he would want for me to have. In that case, it's quite likely I won that game because of a bug. I say likely because instead of drawing a Retreat to Emeria as my last card it might have been a land HAD I fetched before Ulamog attacked. Assuming I still missed my chance there...I would be left with ONLY 2 basics in the deck and being short 1-mana for Blaze would have lost me the game. I won to a bug...smh

So we have one more match tomorrow then we're on to round 2?

You CAN select land creatures to not be sacrificed, it's just if you pick a creature other then the awakened land the land will still stick around
