The 1 hour long game has been uploaded to YouTube. I need to figure out how this video trimming stuff works. I'm going to make a playlist and cut the video into 3 parts for all 3 games.

So is there a link somewhere with all the recorded games on or am I going to have to go through the thread and pick them out one by one?

There's a post on the first page of this thread with a link to the matches.

I out meta'd myself for this tourney, if that's even a word. My gut pick was a much better deck, as you can likely see on Covert's stream, if you stay on after our matches.

There are still matchups left that I feel fine against, so we'll see how it turns out. It ain't over til it's over.

And I'd pick at at least 8 people in this current tourney over Legenvd any day for deck building, meta analysis and gameplay skill, just to throw that out there.

I have noticed a few holes in quite a few of Lengenvd's decks. While sometimes their fun to play, I wouldn't put many into the 90% club, as Blue would call it.

Gg Blue. Gruul is a powerhouse and you play it well.

So the only games we've got left are Black Barney vs. DannyreTartabul, and Hakeem928 vs. Peepysqueeps (Tibalttown95)...and Hakeem928 is playing tonight at 10PM EST?

This means we've got possibly 3 Jund Midrange, 2 GRx Moss, 2 UBx Control, and either 1 of Jeskai Tokens or UR Thopters in the 2nd round?

I'm assuming people thought they were going to be stealing fatties with Jund Thieves...
The meta seems to be swinging in favor of Ramp, Control, and Thopters; which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Though I have to admit Mono R was the reason I switched to Naya instead of Esper last minute.

I'd like to ask a question in a constructive manner without being misconstrued as offensive. Let me just say I come from a poker back ground, so I get the whole taking your time on every decision to genuinely give it thought and not to give away any timing tells. I'm watching the Gemini vs from his perspective and I there are moments where different plays can be made depending on his strategy, but when the decision is 100% obvious why take such an abundance of time to make it? I've never played/watched any competitive magic tournaments, is this common?

Simple. Because I'm playing for $$$ :V

It's not about being oblivious all the time and greedy. Jumping at the first opportunity you get to play that flashy card. It's about temperament. Accounting for the most likely line of play based on the last few plays. Foreseeing your route to victory and making plays to ensure that you continue on that route until you have a good reason to pick a different road. Game 1 I knew Ravaging Blaze was how I would win. I remember counting lands and scion mana over and over each and every turn, while forcing through attacks to put my opponent in striking range. Also, the instant speed clause on Blaze makes it so that I can break my opponents spirit...it was an emotional attack rather than trolling. I also wanted to see him Nissa's Renewal. He decked me but I still won. That can throw him off for games 2 and 3. Game 2 I likely made a misplay by cracking my fetch too early and when I did I didn't grab a 2nd G to Moss > Moss > Greenwarden > Moss. I missed a land drop and lost. Game 3...as soon as a saw both Angelic Edict and Planar Outburst I knew I couldn't lose. I knew exactly what they were for and I wanted MAXIMUM value out of them.

Thank you for the explanation, regardless of how I do in this tournament, you guys definitely make it a great learning experience.

Tibalttown95 vs Hakeem at 10pm est. I will stream it live if I can figure out how to put my twitch on a delay. I just want to make sure I don't get riperino sniperino. I doubt he would but can't be too safe. If I turn out to be an idiot and can't figure it out you will always be able to watch the match on his YouTube channel. I'm sure he will link to it after the match.

I favor Hakeem slightly in this match-up just because he has more interaction with tokens with Twin Bolt and has enough token producers himself. He would need a crash course on blocking and attacking another token deck with global pump effects though. Also, he has the ability to see more cards than you.

I've playtested the matchup against mobius and it is very close. My deck is faster and more consistent, but Peepy's deck has some serious explosive potential that I lack. I can beat a Retreat with a decent hand, but Tactics is generally a blowout. Twin Bolt is a key card for me.

Good luck to both of you... I'm mad I'm going to miss it though. Looking forward to the highlight reel. If you post the video do me a favor and spoiler the results, I want it to be a surprise (so demanding lol).
