Currently reading: Re-reading Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. His writing is just... beautiful. The first chapter of this book is some of the best melancholic prose I can remember.

I feel like I've been missing out because I've never really read a Neil Gaiman book, though I keep hearing about how nice his writing is. I started one of his once (I can't remember which one it was) but the plot didn't really hook me and I lost steam.

You just reminded me of this work, about which I recently heard good things about from some other critics I find credible. I think they emphasized very interesting use of metaphor/dual meaning, and that it wasn't too long, which could be useful when trying to develop an appreciation for a new author. I need to remember to give this a shot.

Give Paul Auster a look.

I've been a real slouch on the reading front but my faves are:
The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse

What I really need to do is finally finish the Dark Tower series and get to some stuff in my to-get list.

Never read any of the Song of Fire and Ice series. Never seen the show. No clue on any of it. But the Game of Throne the Board Game is pretty friggin' fun.

I've yet to read a Neil Giaman book, though I did listen to Anansi Boys on audio during a drive up and down California. First foray into audiobooks and I have to say that I'm sold on the idea.

It's actually very good, if you're into that kind of thing.

Currently reading : Ghost in the Wires.

Story of Kevin Mitnick and even if you're not into the whole computer hacker type of thing its a very interesting read regarding some of the things that people were capable of at the dawn of the computer age, how how clever some of these people got with their exploration of the computer and phone systems.

Just started in on a copy of Beginning HTML and CSS... what a stupid book to read. Oh well, maybe it'll help out somewhere down the line.

This has reminded me that I should check out his work. I think this was also the same book that was recommended during a social engineering project.

I'm currently reading Operating Systems Design by Abraham Silberschatz. It's a pretty good read so far.
