Testing results; Cogo temur:
--------------------------------------------------
G1, Rank 40, opponent plays a
temur list that seems to be close to the one I posted at :
viewtopic.php?p=390305#p390305 but with Gatekreepers instead of gnarlids.
On the draw....
I curve Gnarlid into 3pt Skyrider into evolving wilds, with a Outland Colossus and a firecraft followup.
Opponent Gatekreeper into 3pt Skyrider t4 5/5
Woodland Wanderer T5
Chandra's Ignition on his Skyrider. I figure that I can drop colossus to block Wanderer and Firecraft his Skyrider, but he even has the Firecraft Reach in hand.
Ok so he had a nutdraw. 1 thing to note though: If i'm running
26 land and Firecraft myself,
why the hell am I not running Chandra's Ignition ?
LOSS--------------------------------------------------
G2, Rank 34,
Sultaifog.
On the draw again...
I keep gnarlid into skyrider with lumbering falls firecraft followup; drew many further good threats, but drew both Brutal Expulsions.
He has (on the play) T3 guardian of meletis t4 tutelage + fog, he has reave soul + jace, languish, a skaabfog, a SECOND tutelage, hydrolash and another fog.
I think I played close to optimally, and I got milled out with him on 1 life.
1 thing to note : 4 mana is alot to try and be tricky with in a deck that wants to put out pressure. Maybe
Brutal Expulsion doesn't fit here?
LOSS--------------------------------------------------
G3, Rank 38
GolgaripeaOn the draw again ? Boy i'm such a lucksack!
Decide to keep a very tempting 3 lander with good potential (got a wanderer, a skyrider, a pulse, Akoum firebird,.
Game goes well, Opponent quits T5 after his obnixilis dies. Cheatyface AI takes over, Huge attrition follows, I draw 6 land in a row, AI draws perfect curve and perfect topdecks. Particularly liked consecutive Gaea's revenges from top of the deck.
LOSSWhy is Coastal discovery in here instead of Kiora? Oh and Clutch of currents kinda sucks vs value etb critters.
--------------------------------------------------
G4, Rank 36
Monoblack mid rangeOn the play !
Leopard, T2 evolving wilds vs a 3/1 that can't block into double Krasis, AND an abbot for later? NOW we are talking !
Opponent T2 Despoiler of Souls T3 liliana T4 Erebos Titan (not bad :o); thinks for like 5 minutes before making the wrong decision and swinging his Liliana into my first krasis
. He has a gravedigger to get her back, but I am able to somehow win through that ****. If he had kept his lilly back T3 or if he had drawn Languish/fleshbag I would've had 0 chance.
WIN--------------------------------------------------
G5, Rank 40
Boros PantsOn the play !
Mull first 7 because unplayable hand, Second 7 has 2 land T2 Gnarlid, A skyrider, A krasis, A woodland Wanderer, and a pulse; but no mountain. HMMMM, hey we run 26 land. This only needs a third land to get going and becomes pretty good if I draw a mountain.
Don't see another land before T6. Get so salty I miss his lethal (forgot firebreathing on one of his dudes), but game was in the 0.05% percentile by then anyway.
LOSS--------------------------------------------------
G6, Rank 40
RDWOn the draw again...
Have a very good hand, so does he. Pulse snipes his early drop, we trade some early plays, but I am still salty fom last game + writing my report whilst playing, so I don't play around act of treason and get bitchslapped by my own 12/12 colossus.
This is a
WIN for the deck. Pure pilot error.
LOSS for me.
--------------------------------------------------
G7, rank 29
Gruul rampOn the play !
Not much to say. Guy had a bad keep. Gnarlid Into counter your moss, T4 wanderer T5 colossus and he never got going.
WIN--------------------------------------------------
G8, rank 32
Temur .... lifegain? Yeah once you are off the rank 40 train in steam you see some .... weird stuff.
On the draw again....
Keep 3 lander with gnarlid into Krasis into Firebird into clutch + ANOTHER krasis, a wanderer, a colossus....
He survives the onslaught at 1 life, thanks to a timely renewal, lots of stall; Then he plays a sower that gains him like 10000000 life thanks to hitting 4 lands (1evolving wilds) with an offshoot and a retreat in play.
I still win, since he apparently draws 0 other threats.
WIN but that looked like a pretty loose deck to me.
--------------------------------------------------
G9, rank 39
Gruul RampOn the draw again....
5 land, 1 land, Hinterland harbor + evolving wilds + 2 skyrider 1 wanderer 1 clutch...... and get mossed and radiant flamesed.
LOSS--------------------------------------------------
G10, rank 40
Gruul Ramp (same guy)
On the draw again....
He keeps a greedy hand and I curve T1 leopard T2 Skyrider T3 counter your Pilgrimage. I keep drawing tempo plays and the turn before he quits, I have him discarding to handsize.
WIN--------------------------------------------------
Went 4/6 de facto; should've been 5/5 de jure. Still mulling over what it all means.
I have a feeling that desspite the 26 land, the deck doesn't curve out well enough to take full advantage of all the tempo cards (clutch/pulse/Expulsion/Krasis is the only one that is ALWAYS good)
consistently. Note how I went on the play only 3 times in this series. Cards like Gnarlid and Leopard do not like that.
