Here's a challenge: Write a story feature Donagut and another 'walker, where his constant narration annoys the other one...

This one was from a while ago, but I just spotted it again.

@Ruwin: Very nice. It really makes me wonder what Clade and Daneera would think of one another.

I might take a stab at this one.

Oh, I like this one. Nicely done, Ruwin!

(Although, I'm now sort of hoping that Clade never meets Beryl...)

Back on topic, somebody write a story where Beryl loses her memory.

Orcish beat me by about an hour. Oh, well. Here's mine!

The Persistence of Memory

I made a card of this. The P/T isn't representative of something five stories tall, but the mechanic really wanted to be on something cheap. I don't know, maybe he has no combat experience.

Whenever an opponent would discard a card you may draw two cards instead.
Whenever you draw a card, each opponent loses one life.

"Rarely do I warn those who seek me, but you ask a dangerous thing." When Beryl said nothing, the Djinn shrugged. "But that is a service I can provide."

Okay, I have an idea for a prompt and an idea for a new form of prompt:

Multiple characters cannot sleep. Write as many snippets about why and what they do.

Post a song and someone write a story about it featuring one of our characters.

Okay, here are a few, if anyone's interested!

Write a story where a planeswalker from a barter society first encounters the concept of money.

Write a story where Raiker Venn gets booed at a poetry reading.

Write a story where Gale meets Penelophine again, and discovers Penelophine is a siren.

Write a story featuring Sundar Elarion and Antine.

I tried.

EDIT: further down there is a version which benefited from Raven's advice, so you can just read that.

Hehe. I like it! I think you're right, this is exactly how Raiker would react. Thanks for writing!

Thank you for the appreciation! I'm always doubting I don't understand characters as much as I think, so it's cool to have confirmation from their author :D

My first version featured Raiker losing his cool, but then I reckoned it wouldn't be a fit reaction from a Gentleman Poet. I have a few doubts he would consider such dull individuals inspirational, but I'm pretty sure there would be some sort of severe retaliation; maybe the town would be a footnote in an epic poem about a great calamity, or a 'romantic' civil war... it could be a Thorneau tavern on the verge of being occupied by the army! But I didn't want to add details to a pretty simple scenario.

Yeah, I think you got his character pretty much spot on, right down to his reaction to the subpar wine. And, like you said, Raiker very rarely loses his cool. I believe we have only ever seen it happen once. So I agree that the more calculating, measured revenge would be his go-to option.

The only thing here that IS slightly off about Raiker is his speech. Raiker does not use contractions, so he wouldn't say "I'm" but rather "I am." He likewise wouldn't say "way too fine," but rather "much too fine." Finally, he probably wouldn't say "the parchment who bears my poem," but likely "the parchment which bears my poem." But these are, admittedly, minor linguistic elements of his character, ultimately.

Well, that's the funny thing about Raiker. While he certainly does seem to put himself above what he would likely term as the "common people," he also has a certain affinity for their plight. He shows in "The Destitute Seeker" that he is perfectly willing to write about "commoners," and while he drinks only the best, he does seem willing to converse and cavort with pretty much anyone. So I don't think he view the town as beneath his notice, because to Raiker, tragedy is tragedy, and it largely doesn't matter where or whom or how.

I suspect he would probably take this town, uh, to town...as it were...

:D

Well, the last is a language blunder on my part rather than a poor register choice.

Here's a revised version with the due corrections:
'The Fiasco'

What if the town were named Fiasco, and that's how we got that word? :shudder: Ominous.

I just figured that the town was called Malice, and that was why he got into this jam in the first place.

I challenge the M:EM to write a story of Raiker telling the story of Fiasco.
In following with an established but controversial traditional, I will now pick up the gauntlet I have thrown.
I present to you all for your consideration, a sequel to The Fiasco.

Aptly Named

Sorry.

Sorry.

When I first read your prompt, I read it as "Raiker telling the story of Fisco." Then, when reading your story, Raiker's name kept changing to Fisco, which I thought was interesting...

:D

Anyway, I chuckled.

I may have put up the story without proofreading to counter my habit of procrastination. THe Fisco thing was totally an intentional cameo.

So, it turns out it's sort of difficult to write a Christmas story on a world without Christianity...or discernable month cycles... But here's my attempt!

By the way, I stopped where I did because the rest of this happy little Christmas story...gets pretty graphic.
