This story is pretty much the whole inspiration of Jakkard: Wild Cards. Right down to Train Stowaway, The Device, and Stare Down the Basilisk.

Presto, Hush-Hush, and Sharps missed out, unfortunately. Husher Twins is a reference to Hush-Hush, but it's nonspecific.
