Should I call it asshat moss ? Anyone else fed up ?

Every single douchebag plays this card now. Great job making a game where the meta for the foreseeable future will be about 1 person getting to slap their dick onto the table whilst the other doesn't get to play magic.
Eldrazi and RDW. Literally 18 out of 20 games last night was either 1 or the other, I got mossed like 17 times. if it stays like this I'll stop playing pretty much this week.

Same night, same results: Acid-Moss all over the place. Seems like the best you can do is to either play a deck that runs well on 2-3 mana, have counters ready or play a lot of 3 mana ramp and try to counteract it :D

It's one of those cards where if you put 4 in your deck you'll never get it when you want it.

But you'll almost always face 2 in a row on turn 4 and 5 somehow. Kinda like how everyone had reclamation sage in their opening hand somehow in Origins.

Ofc not literally.. but almost

Funnily enough, I remember something about people proclaiming the card being bad. I've run it in green decks since release, and it has rarely failed me. Destroying a land for 4 mana is mediocre, bordering on bad. Ramping by 1 forest (which got way better in BfZ with the rarelands), makes that 4-mana investment way better. With the addition of this much landfall, it shines.

Does it win games ? Sometimes it contributes alot. Other times, it just ramps you and barely slows down opponent.

But removing the single color in a multicolor deck can be very effective. Add other ramp, and Ulamog can hit the table on turn 6. Blowing up a land on turn 4, and exiling 2 more on turn 6... brutal.

Does it mess up the entire meta, and leave you defenseless ? No.

You can run your own ramp. Counteracts the effect somewhat. You can run RDW or weenie. Turn 6 might never come about. Burn to face is still a thing. Counterspells are now much more available for control.

And yes, I do realize it can be frustrating to be on the receiving end of land destruction. The total amount of LD is still rather limited. And the effect is has on the meta, will drop more and more as we gain alternate sources of mana in the future. Mana elves and whatnot.

No need to report me, I actually like you :) When you aren't being pedantic.

The problem is that it increased in stock immensely after BFZ. I'm sure you understand very well why. I don't need help in beating it, but knowing that 80% of players run a deck that, if it goes on the play, can basically say 'yo, play RDW next time bro, gg' (yes yes i exagerate) makes me a sad panda.

The card isn't bad, for the mana cost it is underwhelming but in this pool a lot is. So for 4 mana (if you cast on curve) you put yourself 2 turns ahead, a second one will put you 5 turns ahead all whilst thinning your deck of lands too. If your opponent was a control deck of 3 colours, they have lost. They aren't recovering if you have ramped into 7 mana's worth of threats they can't answer. If they were a midrange/combo deck you've put them again too far behind to be able to play their essential cards when you're already at that point.

The only decks that do well here are RDW, or something like that new Gruul landfall-aggro. Possible mono-white weenies, but I haven't seen one of those be successful on just 3 mana. The problem with it's increasing popularity, is that for example you didn't have a 2nd blue source for Scatter to the Winds, but next turn you would. BAM! Say goodbye to your Glacial Fortress, that Island is now useless to you and you can't counter what they're doing. THAT is my issue, it's a play that effectively has one card in the pool to counter it on curve and that's Spell Shrivel. Even the other big-hated Green card around here Gaea's Revenge now has 4 cards that can deal with it the turn it hits (Fleshbag Marauder, Celestial Flare, Brutal Explosion, Planar Outburst).

I'm glad we didn't see any more land destruction in our pool for BFZ, I want to play a game, not sit there and look at all the big stuff you have in your deck.

Nope, it does exactly what it says. Basically a 4 mana Remand that doesn't use the keyword "counter" so it gets past a few problem cards in paper.

Like my post signature says, it's all good. And somewhere in my post I do agree - being on the receiving end really can be frustrating to the point it doesn't even feel like you're part of the game.

And I only report people when they are trolling/obviously disruptive - neither of which I see in this thread.

Just look at the decklist forum and you'll see the biggest reason for Moss spam being strong: Everyone is trying to play 3-5 color shenanigans and 7-10cmc creatures.

..and it WAS bad before BFZ. The value was poor, you rarely color screwed anyone bc 3 color decks were rare bc of bad fixing options.

That card is also another deterrent for Converge decks. Not that they'd be much good anyway...

I agree with Mega on this one...Moss wasn't great before B4Z. The overall curve was lower and the mana requirements were not difficult at all. It was a 4-cc ramp spell that happened to destroy an opponents land. It really only punished decks with an aggressive mana-base.

I think my rage over acid moss has actually calmed down slightly since BFZ, I've been screwed over so many times in Origins i've lost count, but now that I think the card is playable i don't tear up with rage when they hit me with it, especially if they fetch a fancy land.

Just use WeCo's Gruul Landfall deck. That thing doesn't care if you kill it's lands, by the time you get a Acid-Moss off, they've got you at 10 and ready for the killing blow.
