gruul seems like a subpar card but i am surprised to hear that he is one of the worst legendaries in the game

Gruul is one of the few legendaries in the game that HAS NO USE once you have better cards. Like... none at all. I've only even seen him hardcast in play mode once in my entire Hearthstone career. And he is literally out-qualitied by commons from the GVG and TGT sets.

Name any other legendary, any at all, and I can name at least ONCE where I saw it do something unique, that no other card could have done. Gruul might as well be a fatter war-golem for all it does.

a quick glance through google recommends pairing it with conceal but Rogue seems like the worst class for a big dumb 8-drop and at that point you're just paying 9 and two cards for a dumber Shade anyway.

Those are only the worst legends according to mjack and that's still trying to pick the worst of actually pretty good cards.

Nesingwary?

Gruul has been my friend in Arena, at least.

Any Most legendaries are good if you don't have a large collection.

The reason I say Gruul is one of the worst is that he is directly competing, on curve, with Foe Reaper 4000, Ragnaros the Firelord, Sneed's Old Shredder, Kel'thuzad, etc.. Force Tank Max is even partially better depending on the situation. And this is before we explore class cards, 7 drops, 9 drops, giants, and basically all the things that mean Gruul, who's ability is just to have a big butt, has no niche use that makes it shine.... like ever. Back in the day, the sole reason people ran it was that it was a "Counter" to Ragnaros the Firelord if played first. But even then, it "died to removal" and didn't do anything. Now-a-days.... it just gets worse every time a new legendary 8 drop (or even some non-legendary ones) come out.

Nesignwary is an interesting case where, if you are going to specifically counter a hunter and druid meta, it has a small niche as a "tech card". .... It has to be a VERY dominant midrange hunter and druid meta though. Meaning it was like a thing where it was a good card in one of my decks for all of 2 days that one time.

I have also gotten it off at least a few dozen times in Constructed while running different "stupid" decks. Druid and Hunter run a surprising amount of beasts in certain metas.

^ Still more useful than Gruul. But for obvious reasons, he ended up as "worse" on the list I put up.

Gruul is "useful" in arena the same way Mekgineer Thermaplug is useful in arena. As in, even war golem is "good" (or at least good enough) in arena. Anythign big and stupid makes the cut for being big and stupid and being able to eat two smaller things.

got to rank 13

:duel:

PS: 12!

PPS: 11!! I seem to have powered through the tempo mage glut around 15 and am now in an area that is completely unprepared for burst rogue.

PPPS: aw my streak got broken by midrange paladin. I had them at 1 but couldn't close.

I'm playing against someone who literally waits until the fuse to act every single turn. I know it's not a handicap thing because they play really fast once they start, so I know it's just to put me on tilt and be an ****. is there a way to report players for unsportsmanlike conduct?

:duel:

PS: I beat them. I am now waiting for the fuse to kill them because they're a jerk. they can concede if they don't want to wait.

PPS: player's name is Fethiyet in case there's a way to report that ****.

Not really. You can't even prove that it's unsportsmanlike, instead of just thinking very thoroughly through their moves.

the fact that it happened literally every turn is probably a good indication.

anyway, beat them, then beat a Warlock that stopped playing once I knocked them down to 10 on turn 4, so now I'm rank 10. I think I'm getting the hang of this game.

Lifecoach doesn't get called Ropecoach for nothing.
Tournament play is kind of pathetic at times. You have players delaying until rope on t1 with 0 options just to give the opponent the illusion of them having a choice.

screw that I play burst rogue, you will know exactly what my options are because they're punching you in the face

I don't know if I want to try to keep laddering. 10 is a lot better than I did last season, and it's just gonna keep getting harder and probably more frustrating, so maybe I should just take the dust and walk. dunno.

oh I also got wing 4 of Naxx today, so I have Scientist, Bite, and Chow now. looking ahead, wing 5 doesn't seem to be as good value as some of the BRM wings, should I switch over to that now? getting the Dragon-synergy stuff seems useful.

Wing 5 is kind of bad, but all the cards are niche playable. KT in budged midrange and reincarnate Shaman, Shade is very popular in Druid but might be replaced by Raptor, and Ooze is sometimes used in Warlock decks. Reynad's new vomit zoo plays it.
You could justify it, but it's not as strong as the rest of Naxx, so I'd probably unlock something else.

You know you can keep losing on ladder and not lose your chest reward, right? idk how much decks change from 15 - 10 to 10 -5.

I do. it's not about losing things, it's just about whether it's gonna be fun. I feel pretty good about making it to 10 right now but I don't know how much further I can reasonably expect to go.

My philosophy is that rank doesn't matter and I end up where I end up. There is absolutely no downside if i end up below rank 9 (my current rank; not on purpose) at the end of the season. ... I've actually had seasons like that where i've ended up sub-15 after reaching 7 or 8.

If you don't want to keep going, you should still play in the mode, but with sillier decks.

Sometimes I end up roping non-stop simply because I'm playing on a phone and have to reconnect twice a turn.

Actually they rope on t1 to plan their future plays.

update: this brawl is fun when you play it with friends and both use basic decks that suck

it's still awful otherwise
