Personally I haven't given up yet on trying to make an UB sacrifice deck with
Nantuko Husk and
Whirler Rogue work. After some testing I figured that it was best to go mainly for an aggressive approach, but the deck also needs some staying power in the late game when it cannot win directly. So far this is what I came up with:
Creatures (27)
4 x
Faerie Miscreant2 x
Despoiler of Souls1 x
Jace, Vryn's Prodigy4 x
Perilous Myr4 x
Deadbridge Shaman2 x
Fleshbag Marauder1 x
Liliana, Heretical Healer4 x
Nantuko Husk2 x
Darkslick Drake3 x
Whirler RogueEnchantments (4)
3 x
Infernal Scarring1 x
Shadows of the PastInstants (5)
2 x
Disperse3 x
Cruel RevivalLands (24)
2 x
Drowned Catacomb4 x
Evolving Wilds1 x
Foundry of the Consuls7 x
Island1 x
Rogue's Passage9 x
SwampThe basic idea is to go aggressive, beating down and curving with early creatures, then pull the Husk + Rogue combo ASAP if it is available and can kill your opponent. Other cards are either here for their effects when they die or to add some control elements to the deck to stall the game a bit until you can kill your opponent (Jace, Liliana, and the
Disperses and
Cruel Revivals help do that).
I know some card choices can seem kind of dubious like
Faerie Miscreant,
Infernal Scarring and
Darkslick Drake but I really think the deck needs some draw and I don't want it to come simply from spells that do nothing else. It also makes saccing stuff more worthwile. Plus if you have Liliana in play with a Faerie Miscreant on board and one in the graveyard, you can basically draw a card for -1.
Infernal Scarring is good especially on
Faerie Miscreant and
Perilous Myr. Faerie into Scarring can provide a very aggressive start that still draws you a card if the opponent wants to use removal on it. On Perilous Myr it just makes the choice between killing it and letting it live even harder for your opponent.
Despoiler of Souls is just great, awesome card to help finish the game with Husk. I wish we also had
Bloodsoaked Champion but it's better than nothing.
I only played a few matches and it did mostly fine so far, but I got absolutely crushed by Gruul Monsters. Also one thing to really pay attention to while playing this deck is the time limit per turn when saccing stuff... I ran out of time once despite having lethal while I was saccing stuff to Husk, missing 3 damage just because I couldn't sac fast enough. Still won afterwards but it could have gone really bad. You need to be fast with your triggers.
If I had to cut something, it would probably be some amount of
Deadbridge Shaman as they haven't been performing too great for me so far, but they're still an aggressive body with a death effect so I'm not sure it's the right move.
I'm really counting on the BFZ update (if it ever comes) to make the deck better but if you have any advice it's really appreciated.
