Boss seemed fairly easy to me, but what are the winrates like for competent players/streamers/whatever?

also i prefer no deckbuilding because i don't like deckbuilding for brawls

I prefer deckbuilding to rng decks. Even if it's got an rng element to the game somehow (which is all the brawls to be honest). I think the Summoner's competition is one of the best brawls for example, while I think Meet at the Crossroads is one of the worst (the worst of course is spiders).

Mechazod is tough. If he overclocks early, you're in deep trouble.

crossroads was my favourite.

Does overclock make a big difference? I feel like he has a hard time racing the amount of healing the players have. He got to 10 attack in my first game, and i think only 6 in my second game, but i didn't have trouble staying at 30 health in either game.

Overclock makes a huge difference. It means certain minions only get to attack him once versus twice after a certain point, and eventually he just starts spamming the face damage spell. It's very hard to keep both heros alive when you are taking 10 damage a turn each.

I didn't know there was a point where he stopped casting other spells, that would do it. I think you can usually just stick divine shield on whatever minions you need to deal damage with though.

Since it's back now... what do you think of the first brawl ever, Nefarian vs Ragnaros? I find it fun because I get to play a lot of uncollectable cards, and of course the decks are always the same so there's no card collection advantage (all brawls should have fixed decks or implement a way to make all players build them from the same collection, imho).

Despite many people saying that Nefarian is the favorite, I win more as Ragnaros, although when I lose as Ragnaros, it's an overwhelming defeat.

(Nefarian still has his laugh as a placeholder in most of the emotes... you lazy Blizzard voice actors... ;))

the first time i played it i won my first 10 or 12 games. maybe its naive at judging initial mmr or it rewards mtg knowledge more than regular hearthstone would

i am 4-1 so far this time around

You got it this week. :D It's interesting, not totally RNG-driven imho: the choices about what card to pick and how to manage the 2/3 Pirates can make the difference. Of course you can find the Mage that goes Coldarra Drake into Flame Leviathan into Kel'Thuzad into Echo of Medivh and you have no answer...

You're apparently unable to discover Weapons this brawl.

That's true, never seen one. Is this true for the "real" discover as well? (Can't even remember if there are cards on the 1st LoE wing that would allow you to do that, to be honest.)

Anyway, this brawl feels like a "delayed arena", and so board control grants most wins. Some people don't understand it and go for face... even if they are not Hunters. :D Example: I was Priest and my opponent was Warlock. They had a Floating Watcher on the battlefield, while I had no minions out, and Vol'jin + Shadowbomber in hand. Playing Vol'jin would have just ended in an unsatisfying trade for me so I played the Shadowbomber, healed myself and passed. Warlock played a Mal'ganis and went face with the Watcher! If they ate my Shadowbomber I would have been screwed. Instead, I played Vol'jin switching health with Mal'ganis and killed it with the Shadowbomber. Can't remember what happened next, but I managed to win the match.

Jeweled Scarab should in theory be able to get a weapon, but now I'm curious if anyone's confirmed that it can.

I think the "discover a 4-cost card" gave me a Death's Bite, but I never actually played Warrior against the first boss, so I don't know how I ever reached that conclusion.
I'll check it out I guess, although I'm sure someone else have as well.

Edit: Testing over. First try gave me an Ogre Warmaul.

I forgot the class challenge was with Warrior.

The brawl gave me two duplicate options at some point.
