I love all the 'this game is crap, screw this, go play Hearthstone or MTGO' posts. They add so much to the forum!

Agree, pretty silly. I don't have to worry about other games, besides have a backlog that I could be working through. With no real gaming vids out I caught up on the latest pro tour B4Z. With the patience of a Zen Master I will wait and go for the grind to get the full collection as before. I may also finally follow up to get the laptop sorted and try and see what options are provided, if any, for discount on origins. If none the Zen mode returns waiting for PS4.

And I guess the new duels META is that we pretend we aren't annoyed. Maybe the reason the other subs aren't as toxic is that they don't deal with this kind of stuff in the first place. I'm guessing we are just hours away from another full blown melt down. But whose fault will it be?

Well, since the situation started with an unpopular poster making an off-topic comment insulting american culture..... no. No it is not.

Why does it matter if he's unpopular if we can have a fun discussion regardless of the circumstances that caused it? Everything condescending that he said he edited out and the end result is a bit of fun for everyone.

About half our threads end up this way, which is bad in its own right. But a subsection of them end up even worse (in fact even more sniping between parties is going on as we speak). Much much worse.

I am throwing my support behind the notion that we need an otr style overhaul again.

The sheer amount of stupid **** that happens is getting out of hand. A few off-topic posts is okay, as long as the conversation eventually shifts over to the off topic thread. Right now, we have entire threads, multiple ones, where if you didn't know the title, you wouldn't be able to tell the topic of the thread just by looking at page 2. Something has gone seriously wrong there. It's not necessarily even a result of conflicting personalities, although those tend to make it 10x worse.

That's a little odd to me just since I've spent most of my time with the Flavor community which like... honestly trying to get us on topic is like herding cats? And I think that's part of our charm.

The problem is that it never gets back on topic, and we just end up with 8 or 9 jennifer lawrence threads. Plus a flame war or two.

The off topic isn't the problem. The issue is the manipulative or trollish behavior. We can have 100 jlaw threads; that won't annoy me, or most at all. (Well okay I exaggerate, but still).

But that's exactly the problem. Right now, if anyone decides to be an *** the entire thread gets derailed and never gets back on target and a mod has to intervene. This is much more likely to happen when a thread goes off topic into something people can patently disagree on (we don't actually disagree enough on Gaea's Revenge to start a flame war, although we may have given off the appearance sometimes).

It's also a bit spammy to have 3 or 4 threads that have nothing to do with the subforum running at the same time.

IMO, that's what makes our community fun. I'm not alone in this.

People being jerks for no reason are an obvious exception, obviously.
