Most of my losses with it have been to RDW's, weirdly enough, the deck seems to stabilise just late enough that they can either burn you out or Act of Treason you to oblivion.
Granted i'm doing a terrible job piloting it, but a lot of the time it feels like im praying for a Chandra's ignition against these fast decks or bust

good read, I do gree with mega that temur monstrosity is the best deck in the format I wonder if people have started to run with it yet. would be fun to build a counter deck I bet

Some dude netdecked it and whooped my ass with it a few days ago.. we had a funny exchange about it through messages.

I'm thinking esper or mardu or jeskai

what deck do you think would make the better hard counter?

esper would probably be my bet if only because once BFZ comes out it gets both battle lands

One with multiple sweepers, enchantment hate and bombs. Tragic Arrogance hurts, Ignition hurts.. Languish less so. The deck was made with the idea of fighting black removal.. which it does bc of Whirler Rogue, Pia and Kiran Nalaar and Evolutionary Leap. Believe it or not.. Bant probably is the most realistic bc you need green for fixing, it gives you access to all the enchantment hate, Displacement Wave wipes all the Thopters and you would still have access to Tragic Arrogance. Then you'd get all the good big green creatures, Archangel of Tithes (which is a pain in the ass for wide strategies), Reprisal/Angelic Edict for the bombs and Celestial Flare for GR.

I can relate to that. It did felt like I needed Twin Bolt or something similar in some games. I guess it's a pick your poison situation, though, because I can see mega's reasoning to include Conclusion.

Mega, did you ever tried Myr over Visionary? That would help against fast decks.

I did try Myr over Visionary.. but drawing gas was more important in more matchups. RDW is going to be a tough match for any 3 color midrange deck.. but I beat RDW 80% of the time. Krasis and Engineer are great vs RDW. I said it before and I'll say it again.. if RDW is such a problem.. cut some of the big game burn and run Twin Bolt. You've gotta build for your meta.

The problem with this deck is that there's so much stuff i'd love to squeeze in (Myr, twin bolts, 2nd gaia's revenge ect) but the deck is so packed with good stuff there's just no room!
I'm going to test out -2 exquisite Firecraft +2 Twin bolt, the deck already does great vs slower decks and so far i haven't really felt like "man i really need a firecraft right now" usually i have the much better board whenever i cast it and it's been win more.

I haven't ever really liked firecraft

only seems to be good for killing zendikar incarnate... I don't think this deck of all things should care about that

Nice review! There was a point where you said exale instead of exile though.

Good Job, Fel...looks real good. Here's my take:

You rated Planar Outburst too low...it is a 5.0, no doubt, even without X/5 creatures rolling around. 4.5 at the least, and that is if Awaken decks catch hold.
Gideon's Reproach might be rated too high...still haven't seen it played (outside of AI). Maybe if control gets a handhold in the meta, it will be played. It is good against Awakened lands...
Clutch of Currents might be a 3.5 or 4.0 card. It is a solid card, IMO, for Simic Tempo.
Part the Waterveil is a strong card, even without Halimar Tidecaller, but really needs to be cast with Awaken. I'd say a 2.0 without Awaken, 3.5 with Awaken.

You rated Prism Array too high in the current meta. :D

Keep it up, man!

Nice write up Fel!

Ob Nixilis is graded fairly I think, since at times he can just end up being a 5 mana "destroy creature" panic button, or his +1 becomes too costly to utilise vs aggro. I understand him not being a 5 over Gideon who is versatile in plenty of archetypes.

Rolling Thunder, hmm. I'm still dubious about this one. I get it's potential power, but the decks it wants just don't thrive atm. If 3.0 is "archetype staple" I'd go with that. Maybe one for R/G ramp (has other finishers though) or 5 colour converge.

Only other one is Vile Aggregate at a 2.0, I think it should be 3.0 really. The archetype it's in might not be in a great spot, but I'd still say it's a staple there (one of it's finishers).

Sure looks like Red got the ass-end of the stick in BFZ if I'm honest, a lot of cards that are just inefficient compared to Origins. But then they did give red the card types it needed in a board wipe (Radiant Flames/Boiling Earth) and a burn finisher that doesn't need Spell Mastery + a Creature target (Rolling Thunder).

I only rated Aggregate as a 2.0 because I'm not sure the deck it's a staple is actually playable.

I like when my burn spells can go to the face.

EDIT: TBH, in a vacuum, Boiling Earth IS a better card then Twin Bolt. But, in the world we live, without sideboards...

Nice write up.
    A few mistakes:
  • Gruul Draz Overseer's name.
  • Lavastep Rider's name
  • Processor's Assault's blurb appears to be missing the card you want to reference and has most of it linked up.
  • Radiant Flames isn't tagged up properly.

because 2 to face for 2 mana is relevant

I run two of four copies in my awaken deck, it does better then twin bolt would have

Aren't you biased to say that? In how many decks do you think that is a true statement?
