Actually it looked like ass. It was a decent system mechanically but visually it looked like Bill Gates wanked out AIDS onto a computer screen.

I didn't know a single person who disliked the way it looked. Yes it was a change at first but once people got over that (people hate change) everyone I know liked it. The fact is, not everyone shares your opinion, or mine for that matter; i know a lot of older players prefer the older frames, just not enough for them to go back.

Because they detracted from the classic fantasy feel of the game, not to mention the red, blue, and artifact frames are ugly as sin. I would've made sure the one in charge of art direction was eating garbage from a dumpster for the rest of his life.

This I disagree with. The original brown artifact border made me feel like I was unearthing a long lost treasure from the ground. The new steel/silver metal border feels like I picked up a shiny new toy off of the assembly line.

I specifically posted that one because it seems to be the one that the most people have an issue with. Your argument is actually why I prefer it. At the end of the day, the cards don't play any different one way or the other.

Wow, I've been away from the MtG boards community for 5 or 6 years and within less than a week of me jumping back in it, I've seen both an argument over the old card frame vs the new card frame AND a topic about MtG becoming Yu-Gi-Oh. There was even a complaint about power creep (which was bundled up with the Yu-Gi-Oh post, making it a double whammy).

Some things never change.

Maybe if modern Magic wasn't bad people wouldn't be making such posts (I had nothing to do with the Yugioh thread but the frames and power creep are bad)
