I'm going to be using this thread to archive significant portions of Maximum Carnage: A Spider-Man Mafia before it is completely destroyed when Wizards wipes their boards from the net. Please don't post here until after I have finished archiving (after which point, if you wish to comment on the game you may do so). Thanks.

It doesn’t matter, he’s just a host you can feed off of anyway while you continue on your campaign to spread chaos and mayhem across New York City.

Recently you’ve allied with some other like minded freaks: Shriek, Carrion, Spider-Doppelganger, and Demogoblin. Together, you form a kind of family. But you don’t really care about any of them. In fact, you’d kill them in a heartbeat yourself if you were bored. But for now they are kind of handy to keep around, so you do. They certainly make your encounters with the goody-two-shoes brigade go a lot smoother.

But I’m getting ahead ahead of myself. By now you’re wondering what’s so special about you. Let me tell you.

You are the Mafia-Aligned Godfather. Your Mafiates are EtR (Shriek), Tikomhoi1 Murica (Doppelganger), The_Unwritten Shockwave07 (Carrion), and Clinic (Demogoblin). Together you make up the Mafia team. Your team win condition is to eliminate all Town-Aligned players. Let me be clear: you must eliminate every single Town-Aligned player to win as the Mafia, not just outnumber the Town.

That being said, you are ALSO a Self-Aligned Serial Killer. That’s right, you have two alignments, and with it, two win conditions. Your self win condition is to be the last remaining player alive. To fulfill this, everyone except for you must be dead, including your aforementioned allies. If you accomplish this win condition, everyone else in the game loses, even players that would have otherwise won. If you win as Self, you are the sole winner of the game.

You get to pick which win condition (your Mafia win condition or your Self win condition) that you want to play towards. Either one counts as a win for you, and you can change your mind about which you are playing towards as you see fit. For the purposes of alignment investigations you count as both Mafia and Self. Some of your abilities count as Mafia abilities, while others count as Self abilities.

Your Personal Motivation is to see Venom die (however, see “Shut up, Gramps” below).

Your Lynch-Threshold is EVERYONE. Everyone that is alive that has the power to vote must be voting you for you to be Lynched. If some players have more than one vote they only need to be voting you once to count for this Threshold to be reached.

You can discuss plans with your Mafia team at your base, the St. Estes Home for Boys. Be careful however not to identify yourselves by player name in there, as you never know who is watching (though, for you that is less of a concern).

Carnage's [Self] abilities always function, whereas his [Mafia] abilities only function while other Mafia members still live.
"Carnage Never Dies" first targets Cletus Kasady, if he lives. Following that it goes after anyone with the personal motivation of "must become host for Carnage." Following that it will go after anyone who is Mafia-Aligned. If none of the above are left, Carnage dies. If one of the two Spider-Man characters somehow becomes host for Carnage, he instead becomes the supremely powerful Spider-Carnage, keeping all of Carnage's abilities AS WELL AS all of Spider-Man's abilities, AND his identity is no longer public knowledge, AND he still shows up as Spider-Man in investigations. Spider-Carnage is nearly unbeatable.
"Paint the Town Red!" every 50 kills gains Carnage a new ability or upgrade until 1000. After that it is every 500 kills that nets him an ability or upgrade until 10,000. At 10,000, Carnage auto-wins and everyone else loses (even players who otherwise would have won). See list below for abilities and upgrades.
"Shut up, Gramps" Neither Carnage or the Mafia could kill Venom. Anything they could have done that would have resulted in his death would instead place him in the Missing pile. While in the Missing pile, Venom could do nothing, but occasionally would get random quoted messages of things the Mafia was saying in their quicktopic. If a Mafia-aligned player died while Venom was Missing in this way, he returns to the Living pile.
"Adrenaline Junky" Some leeway might be allowed in extinuating circumstances, but for the most part Carnage must keep his post count high or die.

You grew up in the ghetto of Boston Massachusetts. You used to suffer from a debilitating stutter growing up. How bad could this stutter possibly be you ask? Well, when you were 17 you couldn’t get the words out in time to save your only friend Billy from being shot dead. The experience was so traumatizing for you that you ran away from home. That’s how you found yourself in New York City, penniless and alone. Things got desperate and you considered purse-snatching from this beautiful blonde you ran into just so you could eat. Unfortunately someone beat you to it. You instinctively stopped the thief and that’s how you became acquainted with Tandy Bowen, whom you learned was also a runaway. The two of you became fast friends and eventually lovers. It turned out that you had more in common than simply being runaways; you were both mutants with latent powers that hadn’t manifested! Those powers eventually did manifest, though not through natural means. Following up on a promise of free shelter quickly turned sinister as the two of you were carted away to criminal chemist looking for test subjects. His experiment worked, though not in the way he intended; the chemicals activated your mutant genes and you use your newfound powers to escape. Years later the two of you have become the crime-fighting duo, Cloak and Dagger.

Early on in your crime fighting career you became acquainted with Spider-Man and the three of you are close friends (as close as you can be with someone whose true identity you don’t know). When you heard of Carnage escaping and rampaging through the city, you quickly decided to seek out the wall-crawler and offer your support in apprehending the crimson-clad psychopath.

Your power is a strange, that’s for sure. Your body is inexplicably linked to an alternate plane of existence known only as the Darkforce Dimension, a terrible place filled with darkness and monsters. Your body is always engulfed in darkness that acts as a portal between the two planes. You wear a massive blue cloak that helps you to contain the dark energies that surround your body. You also suffer from an irresistible hunger to draw souls into the Darkforce Dimension, a hunger that is only satiated when in the presence of Tandy (something about her mutant power seems to quell yours). You can bring yourself and anyone with you into the Darkforce Dimension or back to our world at any time, and by passing through it you can effectively teleport anywhere you wish in the world.

You are a Town-Aligned Lover. Your win condition is to eliminate all threats to the Town.

Your Personal Motivation is for Dagger to be alive at the end of the game.

If Dagger targets a Mafia-Aligned player with “Purge Evil,” they lose all their abilities and become Vanilla. Their win condition changes to “Eliminate all threats to the Town” and their Personal Motivation changes to “Do not reveal the identities of your former allies.” They cannot vote (Exception: See Shriek).
If Dagger targets Carnage with “Purge Evil,” it instead functions as a Vigilante shot (But note his bulletproof).

To achieve her personal motivation, Firestar must not place the hammering vote on any player.
If “Feel the Burn” is used on Carnage, his DayKill is blocked for the day and he can no longer accumulate his body count number for the Day.
Firestar’s votes count double against Carnage. Since Carnage’s Lynch Threshold is everyone with a voting ability, Firestar voting for Carnage allows for one player with a voting ability to not have to vote for Carnage. This is not the case for anyone else whose votes count for more than one vote.
“Feel the Burn” can be used against the ANGRY MOB, doing so however only prevents the next ANGRY MOB vote that would accumulate, not any after that.
“Feel the Burn” doesn’t work on Spider-Man (either one).
If “Feel the Burn” is used on Venom, it also Roleblocks him on the following Night, in addition to the Voteblock.

His personal motivation only checks game-relevant info. ie, if he writes that "Player X is the Hobgoblin", when in fact that is not true, it violates his Personal motivation. But if he writes "the dodgers won the world series" when that never happened, well, who the frak cares?
"Newsroom Buzz" is based on two things; 1) a die roll, and 2) # of posts. Here's how it works: at the start of the day I take the number of remaining living players and times that number by 42 (why 42? cuz it's the answer to the universe or something like that). That's how many posts need to elapse before a rumour is told to him. Then I roll a 6-sided die, which determins the validity of the rumour. 1- complete BS, 2 to 4-mostly true but with some inconsistencies, 5-true, 6-true AND significantly helpful. The rumours can be anything, but mostly will surround the in-world events taking place. If he gets a 6, he can learn the alignment of a player, or an ability of a player, or the lynch threshold of a player, which is also randomly determined.
JJJ's "power of the press" ability doesn't work on Robbie.

If JJJ uses "Power of the Press" on Spider-Man it counts double and is always negative.
If JJJ votes for Spider-Man, it also counts double.
If Venom votes Spider-Man, it reduces his Lynch Threshold for that Day (see Venom's secrets for details).
"Love is my Armour" doesn't work if Doppelgagner is targeting Spider-Man through the Mafia night kill.
If Mary-Jane is dead when Norman Osborn uses "I AM THE GREEN GOBLIN!", all votes against The Amazing Spider-Man count double for the rest of the Day.
If Spider-Man uses "Here's Web In Your Eye!" against The Spectacular Spider-Man, it recharges his "Web-Shooters" instead of having the standard effect.
Town-Aligned characters who become something other than Town-Aligned or go Missing with no hope of return trigger "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility" as if they had died.

You know the tale. Radioactive spider bite that grants awesome powers + Ridden with guilt over the preventable death of your Uncle = Spectacular Superhero. Life is great. You’re married to the most beautiful red-headed model you’ve ever seen, have a stable job taking candid pictures of...yourself, and spend your free time playing Tarzan between skyscrapers in the Big Apple and beating up bad guys. Yup, life is great. Along comes a CARNAGE. Suddenly life isn’t so great. Bodies are piling up left right and center all across town, and, as if to add insult to injury, the only way you can conceivably stop this menace is by allying with your deadliest foe, Venom. But it’s okay, you rationalize, because you can control Venom, or so you hope.

You are a Town-Aligned Web-Slinger. Your win condition is to eliminate all threats to the Town.

Your Personal Motivation is to keep a leash on Venom. Don’t let him kill Carnage.

Instantaneous targeting abilities (like Carnage’s DayKill, for example) that ordinarily have no delay have a delay of 12 hours, or until end of Phase (whichever is sooner), when targeting the Spectacular Spider-Man. This is an extra, secret effect of his “Spider-Sense” ability (to give him time to react).
“Spider-Sense” doesn’t work on Venom.
“Impact Webbing” is useless against Carnage or Venom, mechanically, but will still have a flavour post that suggests otherwise.

His personal motivation is actually very easy to achieve, just requires diligence. Even the most remote hints can be accepted.

If she just sits tight and waits, eventually Carnage and his lackeys might relocate to the Statue of Liberty, in which case she is auto-freed. If she targets The Amazing Spider-Man or The Spectacular Spider-Man with "Save Me!" she is auto-freed. I have a lynch threshold that is low. I am easily lynchable. However, I was told I could increase the lynch threshold by +1 but I wasn't told how. Of my abilities, I am allowed to post in red and I am allowed to post at night. I am also unable to unvote anyone, but I am allowed to change my vote. This basically means once I vote during the day I can never not vote for that day. I'm assuming that since I was informed I could change my lynch threshold there must be some type of interaction with my known abilities that change it. I've been thinking of various ways this could work and I'm thinking I have to post in red and either be the first vote or last vote on a person that is lynched. I hope it's not the first vote because that will be very difficult. I've also considered maybe I just have to vote for every player or perhaps a specific player. I don't know how the night posting could affect this.

I posted in red to make sure I wasn't penalized for writing in red.

Especially since I'm about 99.9% positive that in order for at least some of these to be met, others will have to lose. Doesn't seem wise to share when I have no idea who I'll be setting to work against my needs. I will say that, as far as I can tell, I have a mix of needs. I need some things Town would approve of (or at least, not be harmed by), but I also need some things on the opposite side of the spectrum. I suspect that is why Zoko's ability found evil in me, but it didn't match the evil he was looking for. He was looking for specifically Mafia, which I am not. I do have some abilities which should help me in various ways with regards to my wincons, but again, I see no reason to share what any of those abilities are at this time.

I don't really care whether anyone does or doesn't believe me. Go ahead and try to kill me if you want to. It might be interesting to see what happens since my lynch threshold is effectively infinity. Go ahead and test it out if you want. Everyone vote for me, and do it early enough that when nothing happens even with a preponderance of votes on me, you'll still have time to move your votes elsewhere.

You are right though about me working on my own. In TZ, I tried to help everyone, keep the game balanced, and basically work as though I were a BuM to help manage the game. I'm not doing that here. The plus side for all the rest of you is that I'm not out specifically to hurt either team. I can win alongside any team, afaik. Certain roles are unlikely to be able to win if I do, but no team would be forced to lose in order for me to be able to win. But with the hint of a resurrector out there by the Mod (see the rule about no post death "bah" posts), even that is not certain. I need certain conditions to be met. What happens after they are met is irrelevant.

For example (and I'm NOT saying this is one of my wincons), suppose I needed Zokorad dead before the game ended. If we lynched Zokorad and then a resurrector brought him back, I would still have met that particular wincon.

The other reason I want it should be obvious: to target Majora should I figure out who he is (right now I strongly suspect Iso, but not enough to use the 1/game vig on him though).

If you let me go second and the FDM is taken (by you, obviously), then I will pick the Don Gero's Mask instead.

What is a poisoner? A cult leader would most likely stop being a threat when dead. The downside of letting confirmed scum, (which he isn't by far, all points that his claim is true) isn't as big as the info we can gather from lynching another suspicious player and then, after seeing him dead we'd get even more info from whaever he said, his interaction and all that on day 1.

This is the first post that pings my interest. I can understand game-start banter, but this is contextual as it leading a role claimed as pro-town. Obviously, we were going to test this claim during the day but Ahlyis rushed it.

In a perfect context (no bastardness) I would assume that Ahlyis wanted to confirm himself town through an external ability, which backfired on him (meaning he was not the designed target for that ability). In this context I can assume that Ahlyis is self aligned or neutral aligned. Obviously, the real context is a bastard one, but the logic is still acceptable.

Ahlyis sort of confirms this later on

Okay, a bit more serious now. I say ignore Ahlyis and Carnage as targets for now. Like it has been suggested Ahlyis is probably telling the truth about part of her(?) invulnerability for now. If it is proven, nothing is really gained other than a day passing.

In Twilight, revealing my role was not information that could hurt me. In fact, it was information that helped me. If you remember though, in Twilight, I never revealed "what" the extra objectives were. In fact, for most of the game (if not all the way through), I wouldn't even confirm who had the objectives I needed met. And to answer that question before someone even asks it, here's a few possibilities...

1) Iso has already admitted that he CAN be killed. He's also claimed that only he holds the key to his own demise, but that leaves so much wiggle room, do I really have to give examples?
2) Perhaps one or both of us don't count towards the numbers when figuring whether Mafia controls a majority or not. I'd say Carnage is more likely to be uncounted than I am, but I just might not be counted either. (And no, I'm not going to say either way.)

3a) I'm only unkillable until LyLo.

3c) I'm only unkillable as long as a certain role remains alive.
3d) I'm only unkillable until after a certain Day/Night.
3e) I'm not actually unkillable at all and this whole thing is a lie to try to get myself lynched because I'm a jester.
3f) I'm only unkillable until some other condition is met which I won't even think about revealing because I like being unkillable!
4) Some other factor which I haven't immediately thought of allows Mafia to win if only they, Iso and myself remain.

Take your pick.

There will always be people on both sides of this argument regarding every player. I have noticed over time that the more active you are, the more people will jump to either side of what allignment you might have. Anyway, enough beating around the bush.

EtR is another person that caught my attention with his unvote. I will go back and check the context in which he voted for Ahlyis in the first place.

JayDreven: Starts questioning people then tries out Ahylis's alignment. Actually interacts with people. Whoa! If he actually gives thoughts on players before the Day ends then I'll sleep better at night. But revising this to leaning town, given that he's one of the few players who are actually doing anything.

PeregrineV: Is absent for most of the game then posts a read list, which.. is nothing without reasoning to back it up. THAT'S IT. Pdr_Br: So passive with his first post. "Hey guys, I'm here, whoa interesting abilities". Confirms bad role play. Unusually concerned with Spider-Man. Moved to leaning scum because passiveness.

tmich: Votes edeon and says "discuss" and NEVER PUSHES THE DISCUSSION ON HIS VOTE, WHICH WOULD HAVE LED TO MUCH MORE USEFUL DISCUSSION. Is actually voting players for ~quasilegit reasons? Asks lots of questions. Has a nice rants post, kind of. Has rational conclusions anyone can agree with. Whoa is actually trying to solve the game like JayDreven. Currently tmich and I are so on the same page right now. (he's probably earnest town)

Freddeh-scum: SHEEP SHEEP! onto IsoSTARDUST. FoSes Ahylis. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

The_Unwritten: Two posts with nothing in them. REALLY?!

Zokorad: Does something to Ahylis. Says Iso is suspicious without voting him. ZERO.

Murica: FoSes without vote. Tunnels Ahylis then puts a vote. The question is, why didn't he use his vote in the first place? More IIoA. Burn him (IsoSTARDUST, will you oblige?)

Johnny_Combo_Player: WOW, THIS GUY HAS NOT EVEN POSTED EVEN ONCE YET.

EtR: Bad vote on Ahylis. Like that's it. wow.

burning_earth: Votes Iso "just in case" presumably RVS. Self conscious with regards to IsoSTARDUST. Never removes his RVS vote, which I consider a scumtell. "I'm a townie (or am I)" so bad. Just hopped onto the bottom of my scum list for committing real scum slips.

Seppel_: Hey look another ragnarokio. LIKE LOL ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

So currently we have two unlynchable and unkillable derps that are bad for game design because they pretty much make you lurk for the entire game.

We have four town in the form of tmich, LordMark, JayDreven, and Jedcaj that will lead us to victory.

We have NINE PLAYERS who are currently not playing the game.

And we have six scum in the form of Clinic, Pdr, edeon, Murica, resyx, and burning_earth, which may be subject to further scrutiny.

Really I want to be a Townie Dreaming God and choose the Hickory Dickory Dock option.

Fair, I know others who do that. I've always erred on the side of completeness and include myself, even if it's just "Town, obviously".

As for Jay's hounding being bad, it's because it looks like he's trying to push a case that's based on nothing. If it weren't for the fact that Iso seems to lack an actual vote and also be somewhat unkillable for the time being, I'd say he's trying to get a mislynch. But as noted, I suspect it's just Jay not being used to Iso's "ur dum" phrasing. (I've seen it plenty of times in my working with him)

I agree. We can barely get 12 people to post, and with not everyone even having a vote, not sure how there is ever going to be a lynch.

I know this is contrary to usual theory, and I don't generally like doing it, but how would people feel about lynching a lurker to get the game moving? It certainly doesn't seem like there is going to be a majority vote on anyone for reasons of scuminess any time soon.
