So October 31st came and left, and no update.
What does this teach us? A very important lesson: the Mod lies.
This is going to be a Bastard Game. Now different people have different definitions of a Bastard Game, so to be perfectly clear, here's mine:

Now that I got that out of the way, I promised an UPDATE! So an update you shall have. Here's some very interesting unique game mechanics that will be in the game. One of them you might recognize from before, but the others are completely new! Enjoy.
Jailed Lynch and Thresholds
The Lynch in this game is going to work quite a bit differently from what you're probably used to. First of all, each character is going to have their own Lynch Threshold that must be reached for them to be lynched. Players from the previous game remember this mechanic well; if your Lynch Threshold was high, it was harder to lynch you, while if your Lynch Threshold was low it was easier. Your Lynch Threshold could also be Majority, in which case for you it operates as normal (receive the Majority of votes, get lynched).
The other way in which the lynch operates differently in this game is that lynched players don't die. Instead, they are Jailed, under suspicion of being The Hobgoblin. A jailed character is in many ways similar to a dead character; they can no longer use any abilities whatsoever (including vote), they are not considered a threat to the town (for purposes of meeting the Town win condition), and they cannot generally affect the game state in any meaningful way. They are also restricted in how much they are allowed to post. You might ask "Well, if they can't affect the game, then how is this 'Jailed' condition different from being dead?" and to that I will say that there are exceptions that prove the rule. A Jailed character might not always stay Jailed, and could even be released, returning to the game in full strength later. A dead character is permanently removed from the game with no hope of returning. I'd say that's pretty different.
Character Names and the identity of The Hobgoblin
Just who is The Hobgoblin? This mystery will be at the forefront of everyone's minds in this game. In playing to that mystery, a lot of importance will be placed on your Character Names. Many roles and abilities reference Character Names and interactions. From the outset of the game every player will know every Character Name in the game, however they won't necessarily know who is who. That being said, knowing a Character Name is not enough to condemn someone of potentially being The Hobgoblin Once I knew all the characters that would be in the game I took every last one of them, assigned them all numbers, and then started rolling dice. I kept rolling until every character had been randomly rolled once (well over a hundred rolls), and then the character who had been randomly picked most frequently in that time got the honour of becoming The Hobgoblin. That means that absolutely everyone in the game is a suspect! Even dear old Aunt May, if in fact she is in the game, could be The Hobgoblin. How could I possibly justify that, you ask? Easy. She discovered Peter had been lying to her all those years about being Spider-Man and it drove her insane, developing a split personality and becoming The Hobgoblin. Simple. Believe me, I can justify anything. Anything is possible in comic books.
So if anyone could be The Hobgoblin, how do you solve the mystery? Well, for starters, every Town-Aligned player will know one character name from the list other than themselves who is definitely NOT The Hobgoblin. Together, you will all posses a wealth of knowledge on the potential suspects, able to narrow it down to two or three people. Now that's much better odds! But there's a problem with this, revealing who you know to be innocent also requires revealing your own character name... And doing so puts you in danger of becoming targeted by The Hobgoblin!! You see, while it is the goal of the Town to eliminate every threat against them, The Hobgoblin's goals are much more, shall we say, narrow. Openly revealing what you know about The Hobgoblin could cost Town the game! I guess you'll have to find some more secretive way of sharing information so that The Hobgoblin doesn't catch on that you're on to him or her. But be careful, The Hobgoblin could be anyone, and as such has eyes everywhere!
Corporations and Money
This game will feature a number of Corporations that will have strong impacts on the game. Each corporation will have five shares. Owning at least a single share in a corporation will grant you an extra ability unique to that corporation. If however you manage to hold the majority of shares in a corporation (three or more) you gain the ability to place a bonus vote in the name of that corporation against another player. Shares can be bought with Money (a spendable resource that all players will have at the beginning of the game to varying amounts), but some of them are quite expensive and will be outside the financial reach of many players. If you hold the majority of shares in a number of corporations that could potentially give you the power to control the vote for that Day!

Now that this poll is officially over, it's time to congratulate Aaarrrgh for designing Hill, which has been decided by popular vote to be the Card of the Month for October 2013!
I feel the need to point out, however, that you didn't ask "Is Carnage a playable character in this game?" or "Is there a Carnage Role?" or even "Will Carnage have any impact on the game at all?" The way your question is phrased would get you a positive answer even if the only mention of Carnage in the entire game is in the opening post. For example: "Last time on Spider-Man Mafia the heroes defeated Carnage, but now a new threat has arrived..." etcetera, would count as Carnage being "In the game".
That being said, I want to preserve the speculation that certain characters are, or are not, roles in the game. So from now on I will consider any questions like "Is Charcter X in the game/Have you designed a role for Character Y/Will this character feature prominently in some way" to be game breaking, thus violating the following rule of this questions game:
If someone asks a question that would break the game by being answered (example: "Is the Hobgoblin Character X?"), not only will I not answer the question, but that player forfeits his further questions.
Fair warning: I will not answer any more questions like "Is Character X in the game?"
