This got me thinking. They want DOTP to learn new players to play Magic.
We all like to review our (best) matches and learn from past mistakes. Maybe even see the opponent side of a tense match and look through his deck.

Why is there no replay option in this game?

-had a great play or won a tense match? Now ya can save that replay and show the world!
-ya could pause at any time and look through your opponents deck. What did or did he not play?
-ya can look back at a lost game and look what ya did wrong. Was he bluffing with a counter? Would your next draw win the game?
-People could vote on favorite replays and watch the best ones much like in the leaderboard menu.

Would you think this is a good addition to the game?

Well..... If I recall correctly, the PS4 will have it's own game recording/replay feature built in so.... Assuming a version that plays on the PS4, next year DotP won't need it.

That's great and all, but unless I'm mistaking, that hardly does all the things I sum up and it's only affecting one console?

Fantastic idea and point! I've played a few online matches where I just smoked my opposition in like 8 turns in would love to replay that.

Ah, well then the harsh reality is; $10 game, and that feature doesn't add to the gameplay.

As of right now you can play on Steam and record the matches with Frapps or on a console and use an Elgato.
I'll be picking up an elgato in February so I can share some of the craziness that our ffa games can become.
My PS4 will wait until they work out the inevitable bugs that will come with release and drop the initial price.
PS3 serves us just fine.

You make it sound like the gamedesigners are not interested in this feature because they would not make money of it. Sure it's a cheap game, but don't ya think this easy to implement feature will give newer players a better understanding of the game mechanics? Thus they find it more enjoyable, meaning more people will keep playing magic? I think they missing a great opportunity to keep their userbase happy, and give them the insights to get hooked.

It's not only recording the match. It's making it interactive. I can't look at my opponents hand after a game with Frapps, or look through his deck. Nor are your proposed assets features in the game, making it harder for a broader audience to enjoy those features as they are not directly linked.

Hell if coded right ya could even let the a.i. take over your opponents action and play that game again with a different strategy or make puzzles.

Let's not turn this into a Wizards hate thread shall we? If the option gives them more money and helps people understand the game better, we all win, right?

No worries, Mate.
I don't hate Wizards, just the guy who runs Wizards.
And his relatives.
And his pets.
And that stupid tree he planted in the front yard.

Dutch Elm???!!!

No one plants Dutch Elm anymore! Hasn't he heard of the disease???

Bloody twit.

That's because I'm a realist. They don't want people to enjoy DotP, they want them to enjoy Magic: The Gathering.
Magic is the end goal, not Duels. Learning more about Duels means they're playing Duels for longer and also learning more about how to play Magic wrong.
If people want to learn more about rules interactions and the intricacies of Magic's game mechanics, they need to play Magic.

It's a good idea, and it would be a cool feature to have. It's just not something I could see on their features list (which over the years has included "May=/=Must", customizable lands, manual land tap, Random deck select, etc).

Also... "Keeping their userbase happy"? Surely you jest. :wha:

I honestly doubt "save your game, review your wins/losses from your opponent's point of view, become a better player" is going to sell Duels '15.
"Save multiple decklists and change the AI's decklists" (So you're not testing your builds against decks that are horribly outclassed by your fully unlocked/promo'd deck)... That might be a selling point for Duels '15. :)

I am not sure if I care or not about the first, but the second.............

However, we all have the COD disease, so they don't have to do anything for the game to sell.

The first is good because you wouldn't have to switch between your Token build or Flyer build of Bounce and Boon. You could build and test both without having to scrap them.
There are a TON of decks that have multiple approaches.

As for CoD disease, I don't think so. They'll actually have to sell me on DotP'15. I loved '13, but '14 had to grow on me and I still don't play it as much. Unless '15 is impressive before launch, I'm not interested.

Yeah....... I really don't know. The problem with games like this, and a yearly release, is that the competition moves to the new version when it comes out.

Yes, I know this. This is why I was referring to (getting hooked on) magic in general, not DOTP.
Also, it's supposed to be a handy dandy tool for reviewing and showing off your matches, not be the major selling point for DOTP 2015.

Honestly, this is very very very very very low on my priorities list. Behind:

A working game.
A bug free working game.
Working promos.
A game with working promos.
A game without any promos.
A game with a balanced meta.
A game where they tried to balance the meta.
A game where the meta doesn't seem like a 10 year old could have designed it more balanced.
A game that follows the rules of magic the gathering.
A game where priority exists.
A game where I don't lose games just because the game fails to follow the rules of magic the gathering.
A deck editor where I can exit to the deck wheel.
A deck editor where it is easy to exit to the deck wheel.
A deck editor that does not sort by rarity as it's default.
A working multiplayer.
A working multiplayer connection in every lobby.

And I can keep going but.......

Let me help you scratch one item of that list: simply click on the little wheel in the deck editor and choose chance deck, to exit back to the deck wheel.

How do I use a controller to click on the little wheel?
