hi there new to this place...after reading everyone's decks for origins, has anyone made a deck for the console version of origins? i've been out magic for a few years, so i'm kinda rusty on my deck building. played off and on now and then. naya would be my ideal colors.

Naya isn't that strong at this point.

Inspired by the discussion in the Temur thread but not convinced of the worth of adding blue to Gruul monsters, I thought it could be interesting to try a Naya build. It offers us an out to RDW's god-hand of Goblin Glory Chaser into Call of the Full Moon (reprisal) and also gives some more versatile enchantment+big baddies removal in Angelic Edict.
Mind you, I haven't been able to playtest this at all nor do I know what lands would be best for this deck.

Naya Midrange
4 x Fiery Impulse

4 x Twin Bolt
3 x Reprisal
4 x Gatecreeper Vine

3 x Citadel Castellan
1 x Valeron Wardens

3 x Zendikar Incarnate
2 x Kytheon's Irregulars
2 x Kird Chieftain

3 x Angelic Edict
2 x Chandra's Ignition
2 x Embermaw Hellion

1 x Woodland Bellower

1 x Gaea's Revenge

25 lands

Hi Doner,

I had a bit ofa similar idea some time ago, the testing went aver age and I gave up on it. The deck did have it's strong plays but overall felt clunky.

It's a bit like a Gruul deck but without the ramp but with high value creatures in it's place + Wildsize to get renown or to push a lot of damage through and burn the rest with Exquisite Firecraft or Twin Bolt.

Here's the list:
4 x Topan Freeblade
4 x Twin Bolt
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
3 x Iroas's Champion
3 x Citadel Castellan
4 x Wildsize
2 x Exquisite Firecraft
2 x Kytheon's Irregulars
3 x Kird Chieftain
3 x Zendikar Incarnate
2 x Outland Colossus
2 x Chandra's Ignition
1 x Woodland Bellower
2 x Gaea's Revenge

4 x Plains
4 x Mountain
3 x Forest
2 x Rootbound Crag
2 x Clifftop Retreat
2 x Sunpetal Grove
1 x Boros Guildgate
1 x Gruul Guildgate
1 x Selesnya Guildgate
4 x Evolving Wilds

I think that with the current meta I'd try to replace the firecrafts with edicts for enchantment removal. Or maybe drop the Wildsizes or Twin Bolts for 2x Reclamation Sage and maybe Evoleap or Gatecreepers.

I don't think its feasible to play 3 colors without Gatecreeper Vines or Telling Time. The mana just becomes too much of a crapshoot.

@Doner: Krasis and Whirler Rogue aren't worth adding blue!?!? Those are some of the best value creatures in the game!

Yeah, I'd do a switch Topan - Gatecreeper, Twin Bolt - Elvish Visionary, Exquisite Firecraft- Angelic Edict, Gaea's Revenge - Evolutionary Leap. Still don't know if the deck would run smooth ;-)

@Auunj: Good to hear you had some Naya ideas too. I feel like your list is spread a bit much along the curve, with both early plays but also a fair amount of high mana bombs. I do like the idea of Exquisite Firecraft, but I'm unsure if double R is feasible early on. In my build I purposely didn't include 2-toughness creatures, apart from Gatecreepers, to minimize the effects of the extremely common Twin Bolt and Perilous Myr.
I think your build is better at racing slower decks, while my might have a stronger endgame.

@Beast: I agree that Whirler Rogue is great value and I think Krasis might be the best three-drop in the game, ignoring planeswalkers. However, Disperse is only temporary removal (though great against auras and plameswalkers), and I wanted more permanent ways of dealing with threats. Also, going with blue means that we're obligated to run either Rec Sage or Conclave Naturalists. They're good creatures, but in some matchups they're pretty mediocre. Overall I feel Temur is more tempo-oriented and Naya is geared well towards efficient removal into strong creatures.
Also, Blue's my least favourite magic color :D

Ok, so... I've been trying and trying to come up with a huntbeast deck, but it keeps under-performing and I continuously find that the huntbeast part is the weakest part of the deck and I'd be better off dropping it entirely. Has anyone else had success with it, in these colors or otherwise?

Huntbeast works best with auras. I've had great success with abzan auras centered around huntbeast and the B/W creature whose name I always forget.

huntbeast is not a good enough card on it's own to warrant a buildaround
