Ouf, I wouldn't play big manamals like that in elves.

Why not? It's better than 50% of the elves most people include in their list. Let's see.. Woodland Bellower or another 3 mana 1/1..

I think we just understand elf decks differently. Synergy is key and then consistency.

yes let me make my deck less consistent so I can get more 'synergy' that'll work

except bellower has the best synergy it's called killing your opponent by dragging out shamen of the pack

Bellower isn't an elf. I have no problems getting shaman when I need him later on. I think Empath does a better job.

Anyway, we have different builds, mine is faster but has less midrange options, I get it. I find the scarred elves play that role really well of being a big monster that costs half and is an elf

Also bassoon I think u misunderstood me. Not playing bellower makes your deck more consistent and synergistic

And what I'm sayng barney is ANY deck with :g: that will reliably get to 6 mana will always be made more consistent by bellower

pesky evolpea? bellower got you back. playing elves and need your opponent dead bellower got your back. playing simic and need a creature tapped bellower got your back. playing selesnya and need a 2/3 vigilant? bellower got your back. playing gruul... wait incarnate is 4 mana.... and need a land? bellower got your back

I don't think I even play that card in my gruel deck, but I could be mistaken. The only deck I like him in is golgari control. Even my Jund doesn't run him and that's a control deck

I honestly think he makes elves less consistent. On turn six, I would much rather play a 4drop and 2 drop or two 3 drops than bellower. On an empty board, bellower is better but that's not the game plan for turn six elves

Elves are terrible anyway, I feel silly talking about them. They are so not thopters

Why play a 4 drop and a 2 drop.. or two 3 drops.. when you can play a 6 drop and a 3 drop for the same cost.. AND get a tutor effect? Because it doesn't say elf? Don't be a fundamentalist BB.. look at the big picture. A 6/5 + Shaman of the Pack is pretty much the best thing elves can muster on turn 6.

Well, to each their own, 2 of 2. I am in agreement with Hakeem930; it's hard for me to justify NOT putting the Bellower in any deck with since it is a 6/5 and can bring in another 1/1 card draw, 3/2, 2/1 disenchant, 0/2 land fetch, 3/3 tapper, etc.

My main issue with the synergistic plan in Duels is there are only 1 cards that really matter to be synergistic and the Bellower does not make better: The 3/4 lord (who you can't fetch). For everyone else you fetch an elf, bam! Everyone is synergistically happy.

But, no worries. Your deck, make it how you want.

Bellower can get Jagged Scar Archers too.. so he can fetch air defense if needed.. and Archers is also the biggest body the elf deck has. I've been on the wrong side of a 9/9 or 12/12 archers before.. it sucked.

I'd much rather play two archers than a bellower and a Archer. Or a huntmaster and a visionary, or an empath and a visionary. Or two shamans.

Kryder is right tho, we just make our decks how we want. Bellower isn't even close to making it in my current build. Same with winnower. This deck goes wide and tries to do it fast

So, the real question is...why the bleep are we discussing Elves on the Izzet Decklist? I didn't even realize it until now.

We should drop this in the appropriate thread before the Mod-faeries dropkick us into Hakeem-exile.

OK, been messing around since we have no B4Z and I'm tired of "the Leavers", so I made a Izzet deck for **** and giggles.

Now I'm 24-2 with it? WTF?

Here's the list:

3 x Runed Servitor
4 x Perilous Myr
4 x Alchemist's Vial
4 x Disperse
4 x Twin Bolt
3 x Esperzoa
3 x Chief of the Foundry
3 x Thopter Engineer
4 x Artificer's Epiphany
3 x Whirler Rogue
2 x Thopter Spy Network

10 x Island
4 x Mountain
2 x Sulfur Falls
3 x Foundry of the Consuls
4 x Izzet Guildgate

I know Izzet is a strong deck, but I really never gave it much thought since I never had issues playing against it. I have a 10-game report I'll post in a sec.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I've thought about replacing 2 Alchemist's Vial with 2 Exquisite Firecraft.

Artificer's Epiphany is the cut if you wanna make room for Firecraft. You already have draw from Vial, Spy Network, and Servitor dying. You could just cut two, or you could chop them all and slide in a Reclusive Artificer and Jace.. but that's getting cute. Soulblade Djinn would be pretty sick.. but you're only running 23 lands with a pretty smooth curve so nah.

That's a card I'm just not sold on. It's always been suboptimal when I've played it (I've always wanted to just attack) and its never done anything against me. 1 damage for tapping two creatures is just soooo meh.
