Awesome, thanks for that. I'll be adding in the character descriptions you all typed up for yourselves at the beginning to introduce the characters, and it'll be published Wednesday morning to the Front Page!
Fallen said he was prolly gonna drop, though I've got another friend who'd prolly be interested.
Hi hello,
I am this friend and I'd be interested in joining the campaign as a Cleric if possible. I've got some things to finalize before I'm ready though so please continue on. I likely wont be fully ready until Wednesday. I will post my character sheet in the setup thread.
Eh, I changed my Charisma and Strength. Strength is basically useless, but I just can't rationalize why my character would have 16 DEX, beats people with his limbs, and is still stuck at 8 STR. I was thinking poor bone structure and as a size penalty, but I just can't do it man.

I mean, isn't that kinda the point of most martial arts? Being able to fight without having to resort to brute force? Plus you only do like 1d4 damage per hit, so I think it's like... some kind of rapid succession of strikes or something.
You don't get to do those things without being physically fit, which just isn't realistic for someone with sub-average strength. Find a martial artist and an average Joe, and the martial artist is going to have more muscles, because you can't just technique someone to death, and the type of training you do is naturally going to make you stronger.
also, I now get a -1 on saving throws against Possession, which is always a plus.
Pretty sure even an 8 in STR is above average joe's STR.
IIRC 10 is the "average" score for abilities, although I dunno, I feel like fitness would have more to do with Con anyway. Like, I'm not super strong, but I can lift a decent amount and so forth, but don't ask me to run a mile in under like 10-20 minutes. I think Str is when you hit the gym an work your way up from 5 lb dumbells to 200 lb bench press or whatever, con is when you just do the same weight and just keep doing more reps, or something like that (Keep in mind I only had enough time to become an expert on physical fitness or an expert in childrens' fantasy games and I made the correct decision).
Plus HP is an abstraction, so you might not necesarily be beating them to death so much as just boppin' them over and over until you just wear them out, and a quick sweep of the legs is all it takes.
I always assumed the benchmark was straight 10's, but I'd say it's at least an 8. An imp apparently has 6, and I don't think we're at that level. The averagest adventurer apparently has 12.5 across all.
I made some numbers, because numbers are fun.
stat points
Code:
PCN H L I K A R STR 08 10 15 10 15 10 11.33 DEX 19 15 08 17 08 16 13.83 CON 10 10 12 13 15 14 12.33 INT 14 10 08 10 08 12 10.33 WIS 13 12 10 16 16 15 13.66 CHA 14 17 15 08 10 08 12.00 SUM 78 74 68 76 72 75 73.83 PTB 44 34 31 36 32 34 35.00
With an int score of 12, I am apparently the second most intelligent party member, which is honestly quite sad. My dex of 16 and wis of 15 are both in third place though, apparently being the most popular attributes, and Kitar being 1 point ahead of me in both. At least I'm not a bird for brains though. I'm also second highest in terms of con, and tied in actual bonus modifier. ST and Garren rolled for stats, and have the highest and lowest respectively. Interestingly, ST is not that far off in point value from what can be achieved in point buy (indeed, straight averages and +3 from races ends up with 78), but his point buy value is enormous. Garren on the other hand, is not that far from some of us in terms of point buy value, but is quite a bit below in sum stat points.
skill coverage
Code:
CHA H L I K A R ! Ath × × 2 Acr × × 2 Ste × × × 3 Sle × 1 Arc × 1 Nat 0 His 0 Rel × × 2 Inv × 1 Ani × 1 Med × 1 Ins × × × 3 Per × × × × 4 Sur × × 2 Dec × 1 Per × 1 Int × × 2 Per × × 2
Being the mainstay of "don't die" tactics, Perception is somewhat unsurprisingly the most popular stat, followed by Insight and Stealth. Nature and History, however, isn't something anyone cares about. In terms of socializing, one third prefer persuasion, one third prefer intimidation, and the last one third would prefer not to talk in the first place.
also, I'm going to roll stats and not have them, I just want to be sad at what I could have had, because that is the kind of person I am.
Pfft, I don't need skill coverage, I have Jack of all Trades :33. And who needs to be smart when you can be popular? Especially when you can literally use said popularity as a weapon .
They also let you be a smartass, which should not be understated.
Let's see, speech color: Fabulous tier. Bloody nice. Does the carpet match the drapes? Smell of Oak The number of the beast, twice. Other shades of gray. The stuff of nightmares. The dark side of the fence.
I'll probably go with the first shade of red. I'm sure all the people with the pleb theme would be angry if I went with gray (I say, having half-way mutilated how the site looks because of my obsession with a fictional character and inability to see things through to the end.)

I had an Alchemist with a 20 INT, but an 8 WIS. He never could make smart decisions, he always went along with what everyone else was doing because it furthered his research. It even got him killed three times. He died pretty frequently. He had a theory that rebirth was more painful than death because he always died quickly. He was, of course, wrong. Eventually a sentry golem crucified him, and he got to feel what it was like to die a slow death over several days, eventually not having the strength to take breath.... man, that one annoyed him.
Oh man, reminds me of one of the first real D&D campaigns I was in. The Sorcerer was harassing one of the recurring NPCs about where he got some cool item or something like that, eventually the guy just got fed up and told him it was in the nearby woods. He tells my Druid about it, and we set out to check it out in the morning. Or, as he described it, "So, the druid and the sorcerer, as the two smartest members of the party, are wandering off into the woods alone without telling the rest of the party."
