This is similar to a traditional Oil Rogue deck, playing insane tempo cards like Backstab and Preparation along with game winning spells like Sprint and Tinker's Sharpsword Oil. You're hoping to win the game in a couple turns with a weapon combo in most cases.

Instead of the traditional set of sticky and utility minions this deck plays a pirate core that is very good at early board control, has great weapon synergy, and allows you to play Ship's Cannon which is one of the best two drops in the game.

List:
2x Backstab
2x Preparation
2x Deadly Poison
2x Buccaneer
2x Southsea Deckhand
2x Blade Flurry
2x Eviscerate
1x Sap
2x Bloodsail Raider
2x Ship's Cannon
1x Fan of Knives
2x SI:7 Angent
2x Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
2x Dread Corsair
1x Assassin's Blade
1x Captain Greenskin
1x Loatheb
1x Sprint

How has the deck been working out for you? Are you able to rank up with it?

It's one of the decks I use to complete dailies in ranked. I usually end the month around rank 5-10. I'm mostly an arena player so I don't play too many games.

Arena is not my cup of tea, but after doing my dailies today, I'll have enough for an arena run, so I may queue up Hearth Arena and give it a go just for jollies.

Other than greenskin (and, well, prep) this seems like a remarkably budget list.

I just play Greenskin for giggles, he is easily replaced by either an Azure Drake or a second Sprint. Also I've played the deck without preps and it's not bad.

Emperor Thaurissan + a tech card (Ironbeak, Sabotage, Bloodsail Corsair)
If you want to make it more creature focused you could replace them with Shredders, since the deck doesn't have four drops. Auto Barber is another choice.
Burgle + Perdition's Blade might also work, kinda emulating the prep'd Sprint and Oil respectively.

I have about half the cards for this (including only one oil) but I tossed together what I could and it's already pretty solid. out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on One-Eyed Cheat? (I think that's the name...) a 4/1 for 2 seems pretty solid and the conditional protection has been relevant even with my limited pirate suite.

I see this as more of a weapon tribal deck than a pirate one. I think Cheat is a little too awkward for the deck, and it is exceptionally bad against Mage, Druid, Rogue, Warrior and also any deck running Juggler.

So, I forgot to post this, but The Angry Chicken did a fun deck build on October 5th that was amazingly similar to yours:

2 Backstab
2 Preparation
2 Buccaneer
2 Deadly Poison
2 Southsea Deckhand
2 Blade Flurry
2 Bloodsail Raider
2 Eviscerate
Sap
2 Ship's Cannon
2 Burgle
Edwin VanCleef
2 SI:7 Agent
Dread Corsair
2 Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
Assassin's Blade
Azure Drake
Sprint

Thought you might appreciate seeing their take on the same idea.

Yeah, that is very similar. I don't think I like the idea of Burgle in a deck reliant on card synergies though. And Burgle seems terrible to prep unless you are buffing Edwin.

My deck is weak on draw, but Sprint and Thalnos are better solutions I think.

They had said Burgle was more for the flavor than actual power. They were just having fun. Oddly enough, the deck does have just over 50% wins.

Having cards for a budget version of this, I tried it out. (Thaurissan, Owl, and Azure Drake instead of preps and greenskin) It's probably better than anything I've designed personally, but seems to get most of its losses to massive card disadvantage. If it doesn't get cannon out and a shot or two off, it suffers badly from not having "decent" minions. Also wondering if it has enough pirates.

Yeah. The deck isn't great for grindy matchups. I would recommend a second Sprint, but it would be bad without Preps. If it is control that is giving you problems instead of aggro you can replace FoK with a Shredder. Another tip is that you should generally only play Cannon alongside a pirate or two, treat it just like a typical Rogue "Combo" card. And it's unintuitive if you haven't played an Oil deck before, but you want to keep slower cards like Blade, Shredder, and Spint against slower decks sometimes. You play the reactive tempo game vs aggro and the midrange/combo game vs control.
