Stormageddon: sure, thanks for links. That deadhorse one is all kinds of ugly though, and massive to boot.

Subforum links: I seem to recall a setting for this. [edit] Yep, found it. The M:EM forum shows what it looks like.

Location tagging: yeah, automatic location tracking is not something I want to do. But I don't see any reason you couldn't do "Hi, I live in X, want to meet up and play MtG/D&D?" threads in the respective forums.

Thread tagging: a quick search turned up this, but I can't find a demo anywhere. I'll put it on the list and try it out once I have time.

I don't see it either. We can look for it.

Could be neat to look at, and could have a coinciding thread to go "hey who is from _____? lets get lunch/play cards".

I don't think I'd be comfortable with that being an automatic feature. Maybe you could do a thread where people could volunteer that info... wait, isn't some of that against the CoC or something? I dunno.

Well I mean it doesn't have to tell who is who.

The moderators/admins can already see your IP address and plug it into any website checker and find out your general area already.

Granted they are more trustworthy than random anons, but it's not like it's going to be... SQUINTY EYES... 57 ELM STREET, SPRINGFIELD VIRGINIA

As another FYI: At the request of a few people, I've done some smiley rearranging so that now all the animated images do not display on the posting screen. You can still access them, of course, by clicking the View More Smilies link.

Because instead of going through a thread looking through every single post, having an updated chart to visually see would be a lot easier.

I mean, this is a *forum*. Isn't it kinda, what we do? Go through long lists of posts looking for info? Kinda what there are, in essence.

Not really. I go back and look maybe a page or two of posts if worthy information is being posted but that's rare.

I'm really not sure why you're so paranoid about it. It's not going to give your address or even your name associated with general area.

Typically, this sort of thing uses a google map interface. It does indeed look at your IP address, and then sticks a pin on the map for wherever that IP address says you are.

I think if it's opt in, then it's a completely awesome idea. If it's not - it grabs everybody - I can see some folks questioning it, since it allows google to know even more about you.

If I were a mod, I would. :) Plus this way it bumps the thread so people are more likely to see it.

Today's update:
- You can now customize the number of posts and threads shown per page -- just head to your User Control Panel and open the Profile section.
- As you may have noticed, posting and logging in should no longer involve a tedious three-second wait.
- This :
GobO_Welder rolled 3d12 and got a total of 13:
3, 5, 5

Syntax looks like this:
Code:
[dice]3d12[/dice]

You can also do some math in there:
Code:
[dice]10/(3d20+3)*-2.5)[/dice]

GobO_Welder rolled 10/(3d20+3)*-2.5) and got a total of 9000.09961:
14, 14, 12

I quoted your post to see how dice stuff was done and the formatting for this makes no sense to me

Let's see if we can guess (I know it doesn't work in previews):

GobO_Fire rolled 3d12 and got a total of 22:
12, 6, 4

Yeah, quoting doesn't work with the dice tag (that stuff is the post id and the number of that dice roll in that post -- post 3616, dice roll 0). But never mind that. I was busy adding some syntax stuff to the update post while you wrote that -- is it better now?

OK, so to do that, I typed:

Code:
[dice]3d12[/dice]

Let's try a few more and see if they work:

1d20+5

GobO_Fire rolled 1d20+5 and got a total of 12:
7

4d6 best 3 (4d6b3)

[dice]4d6b3[/dice]

Does it allow for a "4d6 take the best 3" type of roll?

Not as fas as I've been able to find out -- the documentation on this mod is practically nonexistent.

[edit] Checking through the source code, it looks like the answer's no. If you don't care about the total, you can use "dice=string" tags:
Code:
[dice=string]2d4[/dice]

GobO_Welder rolled 2d4:
4, 1

[edit2] Seems I can set it up to just show the dice by default; you could get totals with "dice=total" tags. Is that a more reasonable default setting? (I don't know how you guys are planning on using this)

That would be pretty rad actually.
