Hey,
I'm new to MtG Duels and have unlocked almost all of the cards and trying out some decks. I'm very thankful for all the good decklists and descriptions. Anybody interested in helping with information on those decks ?
Like: how to mulligan and play vs certain matchups with only the key information, the good combos, when to play and when to hold the cards...maybe make a little guide on those decks, if someone is interested and has the time.
I would be interested in the Golgari Control decks for example (maybe the Hakeem build)

Thanks,
Moe

Hey Moe, whaddayaknow?

I would strongly recommend watching Hakeem's Youtube videos on his gameplay with Golgari Control. You'll very quickly learn what to do (and what not to do, knowing Hakeem). He talks through the most important stuff. You can also watch his decktech video on how Golgari Control where he talks about the key stuff and combos.

That should get you on the right track.

Thanks Barney,

already doing that and learning, though I find reading guides more time-efficient^^. I think playing with the deck will let me learn the most, but the problem is that I often won't see my misplays.
Just thought, if someone knew a link for existing guides, would be cool to have it.

10-15 years ago, there would have been guides everywhere. Today it's all aboot the vids. Some people write some pretty cool texts when they post decklists that help contextualize the various plays you can make. Mobius used to do that back in the day and it was really useful. I don't know if Hakeem wrote up anything with his Golgari control build when he posted the list. He prolly just linked his video.

I'm like you, I prefer reading to watching.

But nothing beats just taking the deck out and playing it to start to understand it. Or, ideally, play against a better player who is piloting the deck and you can see what they do.

Moe: It's an attrician deck just as a general statement your only goal is to survive until you win. That being said if you're looking for an explanation of your misplays then you should post detailed step by step events of games you lose. I could give you a quick run down on the purpose of each card if you want too :)

Here's an elf list I've been playing at rank 40 and doing really well with. I'm really enjoying the Bellower because its a 6 mana 6/5 that puts one of your elves in play with the effect of that elf tacked on, which coming from hearthstone this card seems busted to me :D Also the 2 copies of reclamation sage has come in handy pretty often. I'm still unsure about the 4x reave souls though.

3 x Thornbow Archer
2 x Bone Splinters
3 x Dwynen's Elite
4 x Elvish Visionary
1 x Evolutionary Leap
4 x Reave Soul
2 x Deadbridge Shaman
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
3 x Jagged-Scar Archers
2 x Reclamation Sage
3 x Shaman of the Pack
2 x Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen
4 x Lys Alana Huntmaster
2 x Gilt-Leaf Winnower
1 x Woodland Bellower

7 x Swamp
10 x Forest
2 x Woodland Cemetary
4 x Golgari Guildgate

Looks good to me. I might try to get in the second Evoleap to keep the board stocked.. but all your choices are solid.

Probably that.. but it's still a solid choice. Just ask yourself, "Which card has performed the worst for me?" and that's how I'd make the decision. When you're playing out your stuff, which card do you want to play the least? Which one sits in your hand the longest (assuming you have the mana to play everything in your hand)?

Yeah, I'd drop a copy of Reave Soul for the EvoLeap. Another option is to drop the Reave Souls altogether and go 3X Fleshbag Marauder and 1X EvoLeap. Either should do fine, though.

Also, 2 of 2, take note...CoEx is onboard with the Bellower.

That's my cut. This deck needs three flesh bags badly. I think you can drop your one drops and then add in evolving wilds. I think a rogue’s passage and perhaps a Foundry isn't out of line either

I think your sages are a mistake. Can we splash in an empath too please?

Let's max out the bone splinter and get rid of those dead bridge guys, you can't just splash hand destruction. You have to commit to that

Barney explain the reasoning on your cuts. Those cards are all working the way I intended them to work, with the exception of the reaver soul

I think you can tighten up the deck with better relative picks to make your deck consistent. When you say the cards are working as intended, Tell me how dead bridge is working as intended. Super fragile elf that doesn't really impact much when he dies. Think about flesh bag in that spot instead. If you max out bone splinters, your fleshbags can do some work.

I'm apprehensive about helping you out btw. The last guy that did that doesn't live here anymore

I would say the help went in the opposite direction, 2 of 2. Unless, of course, you are talking about Destiny.

Even though it has 1 health it trades up well, its still an elf and it forces your opponent to discard a card.

I understand your point on fleshbag and I'm going to try it for sure, but how is adding more removal consistent to the gameplan of the deck? I've played this list a good amount and i never wanted even a 3rd copy of bone splinters. Like I said though i see your point and i'm gonna test your suggestions out for sure

Barney is turning your deck into Golgari Control with an elf splash. Two Bone Spinters, 3x Reave Soul, 2x Gilt Leaf Winnower, and Jagged Scarred Archers for flyers.. and he wants to cram Fleshbags in there too? I don't get it. Dead Bridge is decent.. aside from trading up, it's always a two-for-one because of the discard.. and it says Elf not Zombie.

Barney how can you blast us for advising Woodland Bellower, saying "hurr hurr hurr it's not an Elf" then out the other side of your mouth tell someone to put in max copies of Fleshbag? Fleshbag without Reave Soul and Languish to clear the way sucks. You're gonna be spending 3 mana to kill Elvish Visionaries, Perilous Myrs (getting you two-for-oned) and Thopter tokens. It makes no sense at all.

ya i just played 5 games(not adequete pool of games) with the flesh bags and it was pretty underwhelming. I think i'm gonna test out +1x evoleap and 1x Llanowar Empath for -1 Reave soul and -1 Reclamation sage
Edit: Btw I'm falling in love with this Bellower :D
