I don't unlock decks right away. I like to play them a few times and unlock cards the hard way to see how they evolve.

Maybe I was unlucky, but this one is probably the worst deck before unlocks. I had so much trouble winning anything with it. The deck is just way too slow and clunky. I basically gave up on it. Maybe it gets significantly better with unlocks, but it's really my least favorite deck by far.

It's arguably the worst deck in the game along with SH. Personally, I'd rather play this deck.

I do the same thing as the boldened part.

I gave up on EtD early and now regret it. I've worked hard on it the past month and have one I'm proud to use finally. It's been rolling in 2hg of late.(I play almost only 2hg).

If anyone cares to see it, I'll post it. Most will browbeat it to death since it only runs 21 lands. It hasn't mana screwed yet and has, in fact, out ramped Mul Daya decks.(Only 30% of the time, but still that's an accomplishment)

To unlock, use Teeth of Akoum in Zendikar. There should only be 3 creatures by turn 7 or 8 that you have to deal with. Even Soul's Fire can take care of them if all you have is a 1/1 out, as long as you get them before they get equipped.

Shadowcran,

Using ramp instead of land on early turns, when combined with aggressive mulligans, is not a replacement for your natural land drops.

Really? Then I'd better call all games this deck has excelled in as "luck".

In fact, I just played a game with it where it had 13 lands on turn 7....I better add more so I can draw land after land after land instead of spells...

I love this deck.
Sure...it doesn't "win" all that much...especially in 1v1...

After trying out a bunch of builds, I've landed (with some thanks to Hakeem) on the full ramp version, with lots of big dragons.
This is what it looks like right now:

"Silk 1v1"
A library for the Dragons 2014 deck (Enter the Dracomancer)
60 Cards. 35 nonlands (15 creatures, 20 spells). 25 Lands (7 10 4; 4 other).

Land
   4x Terramorphic Expanse
cost
   4x Dragon Fodder
cost
   3x Borderland Ranger
   4x Cultivate
   2x Jund Charm
   4x Maelstrom Pulse
cost
   1x Archwing Dragon
   1x Ogre Battledriver
   1x Spellbreaker Behemoth
   2x Explosive Vegetation
cost
   1x Broodmate Dragon
   2x Dragon Broodmother
   1x Dragonlair Spider
   1x Flameblast Dragon
   2x Predator Dragon
   1x Dragon Roost
cost
   1x Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund
   1x Form of the Dragon
cost
   1x Hellkite Overlord
:xm: cost
   1x Banefire
   1x Savage Twister

When you can manage to delay/ramp/drop big dragons...it's great!
I did try out the Crucible of Fire build for a while as well...that, was also fun to play...but, I think the all-out ramp is more fun...and, it might even win a bit more often...

And you have my current build. I really like this version of the deck, too. Strip all the land you can out of the deck and win with the big guns!

Ever since I went on the all-ramp plan I've found it better as well. With no draw or tutoring, it's the next best thing we can do to maximize our chances of drawing useful stuff. It's a fun deck when it gets rolling!

Does anyone find Explosive Vegetation to much ramp? I'm running 1 and even thats my 61th card. I find it being to slow and I really want board position on turn 4, since I can't rely on Draggon Fodder every game, which means my only real play is T3. Plus in most situation it does exactly the same as Cultivate. Here's my current build and its doing surprisingly good;

Land - 25x
4x Terramorphic Expanse
11x Forest
8x Mountain
2x Swamp

1 CMC - 1x
1x Banefire

2 CMC - 5x
4x Dragon Fodder
1x Savage Twister

3 CMC - 14x
3x Borderland Ranger
2x Jund Charm
1x Consume Strength
4x Maelstrom Pulse
4x Cultivate

4 CMC - 5x
1x Spellbreaker Behemoth
1x Bloodbraid Elf
1x Ogre Battledriver
1x Sneak Attack
1x Explosive Vegetation

6 CMC - 9x
1x Broodmate Dragon
2x Igneous Pouncer
2x Valley Rannet
2x Dragon Broodmother
1x Dragonlair Spider
1x Flameblast Dragon

7 CMC - 1x
1x Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund

8 CMC - 1x
1x Hellkite Overlord

I really enjoy playing with it

I like Explosive Vegetation, but you're running the 6CMC cyclers so that's probably why you don't think you need them.

My favorite line, however rare, is T2 Fodder, T3 Cultivate, T4 Explode, T5 Hellkite Overlord! Exploding also fuels massive Banefires and lets you activate Dragon Roost while still keeping mana open for other plays.

About your build specifically, the only thing that really jumps out at me is the manabase; you have way too many forests and not enough mountains, IMO. Broodmother requires and you want to be able to cast that immediately if you draw it. Your only cards that require more than are your Spellbreaker and your Spider, so I'd definitely slant towards red much more than you currently are.

I put in more forests because I really like to see at least one in my opening hand, lost a lot of games not playing Cultivate or Borderline Ranger on T3 (or any other 3 drop in that matter) so I took the safer route. And when I'm color fixing my first priority is 3 mountains and I get them quite consistently, Valley Rannet and Igneous Pouncer are very good. I almost never fetch my second swamp unless I have double Jund Charm or a charm and Maelstrom Pulse in hand, so I can lure opponents into wasting removal on my lands

I run 7 forests and the four fetches and have found that just fine, but if you're hitting three mountains consistently, who am I to argue?

I don't see Dragon Breath anywhere in this list. I'm sure this is a mistake on your part.

Dragon Breath beats Hakeem. I am Hakeem. Hence its absence.

Preferred Pronoun Set: Mr.
I ended up with this. I really like it a lot.
I can ramp very hard and bring quality quick. Played a game with Sixty the other night and ramped good enough to play two Jund's at once to wipe the field and pulled a Fodder with the Ogre out.]
Unfortunatly all I drew the rest of the game was land but that's a one off and it's not always like that.

This deck is Mucho Funno.

"Dragon Maser"

To answer slodice's question - I do not find Explosive Vegetation to be too much ramp. I do find borderland ranger to be too little creature and too little ramp.

[1v1] "Starter"
A library for the Dragons 2014 deck (Enter the Dracomancer)
60 Cards. 36 nonlands (13 creatures, 23 spells). 24 Lands (9 8 3; 4 other).

Land
4x Terramorphic Expanse
cost
2x Tukatongue Thallid
cost
3x Dragon Fodder
cost
1x Consume Strength
4x Cultivate
2x Jund Charm
4x Maelstrom Pulse
cost
1x Bloodbraid Elf
1x Spellbreaker Behemoth
2x Crucible of Fire
2x Explosive Vegetation
cost
1x Gorger Wurm
cost
1x Broodmate Dragon
2x Dragon Broodmother
1x Flameblast Dragon
1x Igneous Pouncer
1x Predator Dragon
2x Dragon Roost
cost
1x Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund
1x Form of the Dragon
cost
1x Hellkite Overlord
:xm: cost
1x Banefire
1x Savage Twister

My major inclusion is dragon roost. With 2x dragon broodmothers, 1x broodmate plus the other dragons it is worth it. Dragon roost + broodmother is an absolute house, the difference between a 1/1 token and a 4/4 token is huge. I also do not have much difficulty in casting it while ramping to a really big spell. Dragon roost is not limited to hellkite hatchling builds anymore.

My major exclusion is the borderland rangers. They were ok when we were unlocking, but 4x cultivate and 2x explosive vegetation is enough. They do not provide acceleration and do not offer a meaningful upgrade over dragon fodder. With all the other important spells at the 3 mana spot, I found they were often sitting as one of the last cards in my hand.
Instead, I like running the bloodbraid elf, spellbreaker behemoth and gorger wurm for their blocking ability and added utility. They are easy to cast right after a ramp spell - if I do not draw explosive vegetation, a nice five drop to stabilize the board will help. Otherwise dragon roost is a good 4th turn play.

I did not focus on green mana as heavily as slodice, but a green mana focus has served me well. Being able to cultivate is very important. It is very easy to just fetch red mana using cultivate / explosive / terramorphic, but the deck's manabase is fairly forgiving for a three color deck.

Tukatongue thallid vs dragon fodder may be a matter of preference. The cost difference is seldom significant because the deck has no other turn 1 or 2 plays. But you can crack an expanse on turn 1 and 2 and still cast a thallid, but not dragon fodder. Ultimately I went with a 3/2 split to add some defense against board wipes - my own and my opponents.
