This discussion started on Magic General, but I want to bring it here to include the mods.

Basically, a lot of users are going to migrate to somewhere. I ocasionally lurk on the D&D side of things and there are many active users there, and that's just one section. Is there a way for us to promote NGA there and try to bring more users here? I'm talking about a forum-wide initiative, not a few NGA users spamming threads.

what do you propose? I think going in and making sure that people know that NGA is an option is probably the best we can do (brace yourselves, mods...) but if you have a better idea that'd be awesome.

Also, I'd be cool if we could contact Wizards and maybe see about getting a fancy exclusive card preview. It might be a long shot, but I know that they give out card previews for other MtG related channels/communities/whatever.

The biggest problem with growth is making people aware that we exist in the first place. And a spoiler would definitely visitors.

Having the the support of the mods would be a start. Letting the new users hear from the powers behind the forum that this is a place that will embrace their desires and needs.

So that's why the people down in Magic Duels have been chanting "One of Us" lately. I thought it was just a bit of harmless alcohol discussion.

That is something I would love to see happen here one day, and with the WOTC forums shutting down, this would be the perfect time for WOTC to throw us a bone and make sure the WOTC forum goers migrate to an MTG site rather than maybe falling out of the scene altogether. Unfortunately, I suspect all the previews have been allotted to somebody by now and it's too late. Still worth trying though, even if we only get some boring common or share a preview with the mother site or something. Anything that gets are name out there is a plus for both WOTC and NGA.

It's really hard to get those people once they migrate elsewhere so probably a reasonable idea to try and get them.

Looks like we're going to war on a diplomatic mission! The future of the NG of A, nay the entire free world of MTG is at stake and I don't intend to let the Ruskies win. :smiley with a military cap chomping on a cigar:

We could try to PM/email Ethan to see if he can put us in touch with Wizards' community managers.

There's zero chance of getting a spoiler at this point; the entire set is almost certainly going to be posted very soon, possibly this weekend.

Yeah I know that.

But what about next set? If we want one it would be a good idea to reach out sooner rather than later.

I have a feeling that spoilers for the next years' worth of sets have been reserved. Still, I will get behind the idea of contacting them for the opportunity of spoilers, even if it won't be for a while.

Best to lay groundwork now.

That's the kind of thing we should be doing if we wanted to grab the remmants from Wizards. A missed opportunity.

Wait till we have a successful front page before you even consider getting real card previews
