pseudonym was pretty clever probably. Asking people questions that they'd only be able to answer if they shared your faction is probably the best way to find people that share a faction with you.

I'll also say I've gotten in contact with a few other players and have learned a lot about the game setup that way. I think communication is going to be key to winning this game.

I don't think lurkers are really even something to be concerned about in a game where everyone wants to avoid being lynched. Normally you call out people for lurking because they aren't contributing to the town and they are trying to avoid the spotlight, etc...

In this instance, keeping quiet and not drawing attention to yourself is arguably the best move for your faction overall. People are more likely to push lynches on people they think they can get lynched. There will be some concern over accidentally killing your own, but the goal is ultimately to survive to the end game.

Anyway, a lurker lynch just doesn't really make any sense.

@Squinty
You have the capacity to lie and deceive others to try to gain information as much as the next guy. Avoiding talking to people privately because you hope for the night to bring information seems extremely overcautious. This initial day 1 is probably intended entirely for people to try to make connections. Not so much that a night start was maligned as the day start made perfect sense for this game.

Well, then the only thing I can think of for finding my group and forming an alliance with them is this: I'm gonna throw out a bunch of words, one of which is my faction. If you see your faction in it, PM me with the word you believe my faction to be and I'll let you know if we're in the same faction.

Daredevil, Shapeshifter, Spartan, Nomadic, Killers, Fanatics, Card, Book, Shirt, Greece, Stoneworker, Red, Fowl, Zen, Welcome, Fish, Tank, Cat, Laundry, Light, Dirt, Food, Paralysis, Adventure, Hacksaw, Plantation, Capsule, Estimate, Horrible, Barter, External, Magnet, Conquest, French, Amplitude and Gossip.

Please PM me if you see your faction in that list with which faction name you believe I am in. Hopefully, we'll be able to group up in PMs and get a game plan going.

Let's all pick a word and pm squinty!

I would seriously laugh if he managed to name all the factions in there though.

So many choices, not sure which one to pick and try.

Figured it was my best bet. With all the PM's I've seen, the faction names seem rather random, so I went with the idea. Maybe it wasn't the right move, but it's worth the gamble.

I don't have a faction to base a guess on but my money is on nomadic or zen from a completely bs perspective.

The sun rises on a new dawn. You find Zinger's body on the ground scorched by lightning with the message "A prophet must honor his vow to his God."

OOC: modkill. Seriously, if I tell you not to do something in your role PM, don't do it. Definitely don't do it twice. I'm sorry, but rules are rules.

Let day 2 begin!

We don't get any info about him after his death? That's unfortunate.

He knew the entire design file KoD. Or at least that's what I'm taking away from his "omniscient" post that originally had a link to the wiki page explaining what that meant, iirc. I assume that's infraction number 1. Infraction number 2 is likely his "this is NOT about epistemology" thread in RPG general that was very clearly about (or at least a stab at) Epistemology. Given the first premise it's likely that he had massive restrictions placed on what he could say. This is supported in my mind by the fact that I PMed him about the in thread mason joke we had running since WIFOM's sign ups which he side stepped altogether and started talking about spider man, not mentioning this game once. I'm thinking he was restricted to the point where he couldn't even sneeze without violating his role pm. Given my own lack of a faction and what I believe Zinger's role in this game to be I'd place it likely he was factionless as well.

That's my take away on Zinger anyways. The OP, when updated, might reflect something different but only time will tell there.

You don't get people's faction or role information on their death. Thanks for reminding me to update the OP though.

Zinger was speaking in code in the other thread, and also in a conversation we were having privately.

I've gained information about him and about a few other players through him.

If you're interested in learning what I know, I'd be happy to trade information. Agree to tell me something you know and I'll tell you something I know.

This made this thing a bit more interesting. So we'll have to trust other players that they are indeed in the faction they claim they are in.

I've been holding back a bit because I was going with the 'confirmed info - route' I usually do, so if that doesn't exist, I'll probably have to be a bit more proactive.
