I actually think that, objectively, Hearthstone is a better game than Magic. Unfortunately, the Hearthstone community is a bunch of self-aggrandizing, overly aggressive, hyperbolic and ungrateful little pricks. If we could have our own little spot here on NGA to talk about Hearthstone and make custom cards for it, that would really make me happy.

I think this is probably worth trying. OGG has multiple active Heathstone threads so there's clearly interest.

I'm going to dedicate the first thread in that forum to arguing with you about this.

I don't understand that metaphor, so I don't know what to think of this.

Hearthstone is an objectively worse game than magic because magic is the greatest thing mankind has created period end of statement period.

I might join you for a few posts of that.

On-topic, while I can understand having our own Hearthstone subforum, isn't there only one or two threads in the Other Games General subforum? Is that enough to warrant an entire new subforum?

Hearthstone is the only popular card game with zero entry to getting in and playing. It's also made by Blizzard, so people who normally would never touch a card game play it. The combination of this, along with the free to play model, means a large number of people who have never played a tcg or ccg before want to treat it like League of Legends or Team Fortress 2 a lot more than they want to treat it like Magic the Gathering or Yugioh. By the standards of online video games, Hearthstone is expensive and overly grindy. By the standards of tcg and ccg it is actually below average in those areas, but the community isn't used to applying those standards.

I've been to multiple Hearthstone forums, and if we wanted to have one the moderation would have to go into overdrive to make sure we don't end up with the same thing here. I (and Mown) can personally testify to the low quality of the official Hearthstone forums at least (and I would say I'm part of the problem, since that place for some reason makes my posting habits 10x worse). Most specifically, you would have to crack down on duplicate threads and low-effort posts in order to prevent 80% of the content from being bloat.

There is only 1 Hearthstone thread at the moment. I am not convinced we have the community currently posting to support a subforum, but there's also an "if you build it they will come" approach to this. You would have to assume we would be able to poach a hearthstone community a little bit from other places if it wasn't some tiny asterisk down in the game-specific off topic room.

Guilty as charged? I also do not get the metaphor.

Overall, I'm not opposed to the measure but I don't really understand the need for it either. It would separate the current thread into like 12-15, but it would at the moment still mostly be the same people posting (maybe a few more) and they would all be kind of small relatively. I would be happy if someone could prove me wrong.

Yes/No/Maybe? We've had three hearthstone threads, the General, a YmtC one, and the deckbuilding one, with the latter two only getting a couple pages or three. This isn't really relevant to anything I wanted to say, but prefaces are hard to write okay.

Anyway, the culture of a thread and a forum section is sort of different. If we just had a magic general section, we would probably have like a deckbuilding thread, a spoiler thread, a ymtc thread, a dotp one and a general discussion one at best, with some outliers. Because ymtc is it's own section, you get Individual Card Discussion threads, contests and game threads, while these would at best be consolidated to one thread at most in an umbrella section. So my point is basically that there are less threads about it by virtue of it being in a general forum, and making it into a section would increase the diversity of threads that people are willing to make. Whether there are enough people interested in actually keeping such a forum active, however, isn't something I know.

To add to that, there basically aren't more Hearthstone threads because people (including me) don't want to spam Other Games Central the way me and Devil did back and the day to Constructed with DOTP threads.

could've sworn the YMtC one was still going. anyway, if you build it and such and also what Mown said. that one thread is 73 pages long, I think there might be some interest.

Um...... go down to Duels subforum, in the off topic thread. Mention Moroii, Jack, and a 73 long page thread ;). You will hear some great stories.

:( But no seriously. 80% of that is me, Mown, and Tevish Szat. We're responsible for probably 20 pages since mid August alone.

You do know you have the fourth most posts on this forum; behind me, Squinty, and Bounty Hunter?

Just because I'm over 9000 doesn't mean your 8000 is lagging that much farther behind.

Edit: While we are quoting statistics, just for funzies Razorborne is a close 5th and 6th place is over 1700 posts behind them.

I also have the highest posts per day of anyone in the top 5, so I'm gaining on all y'all, I just started later.

You all post too much.

As far as a Hearthstone forum, I'd support the idea if someone wanted to make a thread for each class, maybe a Brawl thread, General Discussion thread, Arena thread, etc. If multiple threads for each aspect aren't wanted, then I guess it's fine in the one giant thread it's already in.

We would need a discussion thread for each of the 9 classes, an arena thread, a math thread, an off topic thread, and a twitter thread for a start.

Why would you need or want a twitter thread. Twitter needs to be kept out of nga
