Quite frankly, I'm just glad the Eldritch monster didn't turn out to be me.
edit: cue Grover at the end of the book.

@Raven: Most of it is in his dossier - and he really only shapeshifts under duress. I mean, hes cant turn into, like, a dragon? Or a human. He just sort of adapts to situations through the most efficient evolutionary path. Two parts instinct and one part knowlesge. He's very attached to his current form, but is also always trying to improve it's function. He's chiefly a healer and detests violence - specifically, pain.

But, I don't really need to explain all that, haha. His suite of abilities is fairly standard, and he just happened to be particularly well suited to removing this threat.

That was my absolute. absolute, absolute favorite book when I was little. Pretty much all the pages ended up being held together with Scotch Tape, because I used to turn them with so much enthusiasm.

Happy memories! :D

I think I've got a fairly unique one.

Write a religious sermon for one of the cultures on Phostus.

I have to admit, this one's going over my head. Which book?

I believe that they are referring to The Monster at the End of This Book.

Indeed!

God, did I love that book.

Hrmm... this one I'm going to have to think about...

...write a story about one of the Amphiseum Games!

Also need to think about this one...

Kimberley falls in love - but with who?

Still trying to come up with something for this one, too...

* * *

I'll toss one more prompt on the pile, while I'm here:

Write a scene from the perspective of Tryst's daughter, Mira, as a young woman.

Interesting. Somehow, this book has, to the best of my recollection, never passed my radar. Apparently, I missed out!

You apparently did.

As for the current challenges, I know I have something up my sleeve for the amphiseum, but I'm not sure I have the time or structure to write it out.

Okay, I think I have a pretty good one.

Write a dossier for one of the expanded multiverse... in the style of Space: The Convergence.

Now, the article about Space: The Convergence does leave out some things, so I'm going to take some liberties. Namely, they don't give us a good equivalent for planeswalkers. All we get is "warlords", which doesn't really have the same flavor width as planeswalker. So I'm introducing a new concept: Navigators. A navigator is a person who has an intuitive feeling for using the spacefold, allowing them to safely teleport even without a receiving teleport station. They are crucial for the exploration of new systems, and most warlords are navigators themselves. Can you accept those terms?

Renn Winmoore

There. Now to rewrite Vasilias in the same style...

Someone write a story about a planeswalking Werewolf from an Australia-themed plane who owns a marsupial farm. He's trying to keep it together, but his curse is threatening the farm. His love interest is, naturally, very concerned about his wallaby.

Small addition to my previous statement about Navigators: Navigators are also the only biological beings which do not get affected by psi in the spacefold, allowing them to teleport at will without risking mutation or personality changes.

That said, here is Vasilias:
Vasilias, the Lonely Commander

Even more amazing. I can actually imagine this ancient life-support lich in a science fiction property.

Somebody write a story based on the NGA Constructed combo deck that gives your opponent an unshackled Xeran, Shackled Monster.

The Space Dossiers are awesome... They actually make me a bit curious what would happen if that alternate universe could interact with the Magic multiverse...

Challenge: Write a story where a ME:M character is temporarily transported to the Space universe and encounters the alternate reality version of someone they know.

I'm finally caught-up on more of the great stuff which people have been posting here!

@ Kimberley & her mysterious gentleman friend -- Besides just being really funny (and I mean both generally funny, and laughing-past-the-graveyard-funny...), I actually really love Jinsen in this piece. It feels very in-character for him to have a sense that something about Kimberley is different, but that it's only after a thorough analysis of her katas that it occurs to him that the change is that she's smiling. Bravo!

@ Forest Fire -- I love Ophelia's super-reductive reasoning: you're either for the Phyrexians, or you're for me. I wouldn't want to mess with her, either. Just had a quick question, Tevish -- not sure what you're hinting at in this line? "He gazed into Ophelia Lumara's eyes, and she simply stared back at him, and coursing through her, beneath the skin." I'm curious as to what's going on with Ophelia there.

@ Pendulum & his no good, very bad day -- Another great one. The beginning is super Lovecraftian, as is the closing line. And, as ever, there's something very endearing about Pendulum's sort of understated, clinical approach to the world. I love that a giant, powerful monstrosity emerging from stasis and threatening everything in the general vicinity just merits a "troublesome..." from Pendulum.

@ Renn & Vasilias -- Here, I have to admit that my lack of familiarity with the other universe that we're referencing is impeding my ability to get some of the nuances. But, even without that context, I love this sort of sci-fi reinterpretation of the two characters. And I think you write this style really well, Aaarrrgh. There's a cool sort of Douglas Adams quality to it!
