What would you guys prefer first?

Gen 7 games; third installment of Gen 6 games; remake(s) of Gen 4 games?

My preference is a remake of 4th Gen; then Gen 7 release; then third installment of Gen 6.
What I think will end up happening is all of that in the opposite order. :(

Remake of Gen Four. So much. As I've said before it's the only game I've never completed due to it's terrible speed-related issues. But what little I played was good. I'd love a remake.

And yeah with Zygarde revealed to have 7 forms and all that junk it looks like we'll probably be seeing 'Pokemon Z' first. On the upside maybe Volcanion and Hoopa will actually get official introductions now?

Hoopa was introduced in omega ruby and junk though, which I still need to play. We won't be getting a gen 4 remake till after gen 7 though. If they continue the pattern.

Oh? Was Hoopa officially introduced then? I know a couple of people imported him from X/Y and found Omega had special stuff for him but I sort of stopped keeping track at that point. They did they official reveal then? That's nice.

Did they? I thought it was Japan only for Hoopa. I haven't heard anything for english versions from what I can tell. :( I want one! I need to keep my pokedex 100%'d!

It may have been japanese only I have no idea. I'm used to playing the games later once hacking and stuff have been established because I'm more interested in messing around and creating silly things. I know people have hoopa though and hoopa is out in the pokemon tcg so it's kinda silly.

What the hell is a Hoopa?

*off to Veekun*

Okay, that's why I don't know it.

This captures my attention, because I was almost constantly aware of how slow Ruby and Leaf Green were. Especially the surfing. Dear god the surfing. I don't quite understand your point of speed issues in Gen IV.

So I played Red/Gold/Ruby when I was a kid, stopped playing after that (because I didn't own a DS). Got a 3DS, played X then went back and played the others. So compared to X the other DS games just ran like carp. Everything took forever to do - moves took forever to hit, moving around was rage-inducing (even after you got the running shoes) etc. I always felt Gen IV was the slowest of them - to the point I couldn't bring myself to complete it. I dunno it just seemed slower to me the Black/White.

And yeah the earlier gens were probably just as slow but I play them on an Emulator at 2000% speed increase so I honestly don't know.

Okay, I'll buy that, since I did nearly the same thing after not playing White for a while. Just moving around I was like, "who put molasses everywhere?"

I'm trying to recall, when did they start making the animated sprites standard? Was that before or after Diamond/Pearl? I know they first implemented it in Crystal (and frankly looking back at it with wiser eyes makes me wonder why they didn't keep it from then on), but I remember the animations getting in the way of combat a lot.

I think Gen III was still the worst of the lot when it comes to overworld movement, at least (I can't speak of battles anymore because I tended to turn the move animations off after 100 hours or so of play). Gen I and II were understandably slow because of the limits of the technology of the time, and the later game actually sped up movement greatly (minus the Victory Road caves), whereas in Gen III the later game actually slowed down because like a third or more of the map was ocean.

I started with red, bought gold and silver and Crystal with mostly ny own allowance when I was 12 I think? ($5 a week) never got ruby myself, I think I was too embarrassed to get any of gen 3 although I eventually played it on emulators. When gen 4 came out I had a flash cart so I could get that because I was in high school and no longer got allowance and had no job. I played the Japanese version of black because in those days fan translations came out before the official versions. Didn't care about black 2 because I thought the idea was stupid. When x was released I went back and played every pokemon game in order except black 2 and possibly I forgot to replay black I dint remember. When I finished each game I would hack a copy of my winning team into the next game which I would use in the after elite-4 parts so it would be like the same person playing each game or something. Then I bought x but not omega ruby because I haven't cared yet.

On that note, the only remake I've actually cared for were Fire Red / Leaf Green, because it was impossible to get like 2/3 of the actual pokédex in Ruby / Sapphire due to them only including 200 Pokemon in those games.

Oh oh I remember when I was messing around with cheats in ruby and discovered all pokemon were in the pokedex so I thought maybe they were going to have a gen 1-2 to 3 transfer device. Remakes of red and green were much cooler and years later I found out that the pokemon data structure was too different between those gens to work at all.
