For some reason I find myself wanting to put together a WB weenie deck. Perhaps it is the possibility of a board full of 2 damage critters on turn 2. Here goes:

1 mana:
1x Akroan Jailer
4x Bonded Construct
4x Bone Splinters
3x Elite Vanguard
1x Kytheon, Hero of Akros
4x Thornbow Archer

2 mana:
4x Grasp of the Hieromancer
1x Infernal Scarring
4x Kinsbaile Skirmisher
4x Shambling Ghoul
4x Topan Freeblade

3 mana:
2x Kytheon's Tactics
2x Vryn Wingmare

Lands:
2x Isolated Chapel
10x Plains
10x Swamp

The idea is the fastest aggro you can churn out. Decks that would normally be considered "fast" are slow by comparison. Mulligan aggressively, don't keep any hand that contains 4+ lands (2 lands, one of each color, is best). Bone Splinters and Grasp of the Hieromancer clear the way on the cheap, and our 3 mana slot either wins the game by alpha strike, or in the case of Vryn Wingmare buys us an extra turn against Languish or Tragic Arrogance. When you lose, you'll probably lose badly. When you win, the opponent will be swept away before the game has hardly started.

This looks pretty similar to the GW aggro deck I'm running, except it's pretty shambles right now since I'm severely lacking in cards.
I'm not sure I see value in the single Akroan Jailor, nor do I find the Splinters appealing.
How often are the splinters more relevant than, say, Reave Soul?
22 lands is a bit much with a 3 mana curve topper, imo. You can probably cut 1 more of each basic.

Well, I haven't used it yet (hoping Steam release will be any moment now!), but the theory is to keep the curve as low as possible. The Jailor can be cut, I think for Anointer of Champions. Anyway, hard to say if Bone Splinters will be the faster and more sensible option compared to Reave Soul. I think I would try it both ways and see which I liked better.

I was hoping for consistency on the mana, but you are correct. In a monocolor deck (such as my Vintage/Legacy burn deck Trial by Fire) I wouldn't hesitate to drop to 20 lands and experiment with even less with a curve like this. I can try it (drop in 2x Anointer of Champions to replace the lands) and see what happens.

WB Midrange

Lands (24)
9 x Plains
6 x Swamp
1 x Evolving Wilds

4 x Orzhov Guildgate

Creatures (27)
2 x Relic Seeker
4 x Topan Freeblade
2 x Consul's Lieutenant
2 x Knight of the White Orchid
1 x Blessed Spirits
2 x Heliod's Pilgrim
1 x Stalwart Aven
1 x Skyhunter Skirmisher
2 x Eyeblight Assassin
1 x Graveblade Marauder
3 x Blood-Cursed Knight
1 x Kytheon's Irregulars
2 x Gravedigger
1 x Hixus, Prison Warden
1 x Gilt-Leaf Winnower
1 x Kothophed, Soul Hoarder

Other (9)
1 x Grasp of the Hieromancer
3 x Reave Soul
1 x Throwing Knife
1 x Strider Harness
3 x Suppression Bonds

Currently running this list and grinding for coins. A lot of synergy and card advantage without paying much mana. This deck is weak against flyers if it doesn't have the fast renown creature draw.

Poor Orzhov really got the shaft in this game. WB has very little synergy, which makes me sad because I like that combo. Dark Heavens from dotp2012 was one of my favorite decks of all time in this series. Their gold border card is actually good, but it requires an enchantment deck. I tried making a WB enchant deck and it just isn't nearly as good as what Green or Red can bring to the table. Outside of Blood-Cursed Knight and Blightcaster, there's really not much reason to be including black at all.

Need some Orzhov love? Your Dimir control deck getting wrecked by Evolpea or Gnarls Barkley's Revenge?
In comes Orzhov Control.

4 x Reave Soul
2 x Celestial Flare
4 x Knight of the Forward Order

4 x Read the Bones
2 x Solemn Offering

3 x Suppression Bonds
1 x Archangel of Tithes
2 x Languish

1 x Angelic Edict
2 x Unholy Hunger
1 x Erebos' Titan
2 x Hixus, Prison Warden
2 x Tragic Arrogance
3 x Patron of the Valiant

2 x Kothoped, Hoarder of Souls

25 x land

Kill, edict and suppress all the creatures and enchantments. Survive with your lifegain bears, removal and multiple board wipes. Win with an invincible Titan or big flying badasses.

Hello NGA Forums, this is my first post. There is a lack of Orzhov around and I believe it actually has a decent place in the current steam meta.

This is the Idea I am Currently running based on control and lifegain mixed with card advantage.

-Creatures-
4 x Perilous Myr
4 x Deadbridge Shaman
Almost a Guaranteed 2 for 1 And a 5/3 target for Necromantic Summons that turns summons into another 2 for 1.
4 x Guardian Automaton
a nice 3/3 Body that shuts down aggro, a 5/5 for Summons that puts your HP further out of reach.
2 x Blood-Cursed Knight
A decent body for 3 Mana that turns into a Beast whenever you have out Shadows of the Past, great for buying even more time.
2 x Gilt-Leaf Winnower
Nice body + Removal.

-Spells-
2 x Solemn Offering
Great agains't the most popular decks IE Evoleap and thopters, Can be used on your own Myr or Guardians in a emergency. I've also used it on a secong Shadows of the Past for the lols.
4 x Read the Bones
Really no downside here because you will heal it back.
2 x Reprisal
Use on the bigguns and during combat when you block against Pump spells.
3 x Celestial Flare
Anti Gaia's and another great way to get 2 for ones agains't enchantment decks and double blockers.
2 x Languish
2 x Tragic Arrogance
2 x Necromantic Summons
Can be used on a number of your own creatures to great effect depending on the board state, also great on enemy bombs.

-Enchants-
3 x Shadows of the Past
It makes the deck run great, Filter your deck and Finish the game all in one Amazing card.

I am not the best with land, atm I am running

4 x Orzhov Guildgate
2 x Isolated Chapel
9 x Swamp
9 x Plains

---------------------

Please letme know what you think and what I could change :D Thanks guys.

Orzhov Lifegain/Midrange/Auras Thing

4x Topan Freeblade
4x Child of Night
4x Nimbus Wings
2x Shadows of the Past

2x Blessed Spirits
4x Heliod's Pilgrim
3x Blood-Cursed Knight

1x Archangel of Tithes
2x Kytheon's Irregulars
4x Suppression Bonds

2x Hixus, Prison Warden
2x Gilt-Leaf Winnower

2x Kothophed, Soul Hoarder

10x Plains
8x Swamps
2x Isolated Chapel
4x Orzhov Guildgate

This deck started out as Orzhov Auras/Sigil of the Empty Throne stuff then morphed into this.

I realized that my options for creatures are pretty meh, so I went with a more late game approach since there is some really good stuff at 4-6 mana. Kytheon's Irregulars, Archangel of Tithes, Hixus, Winnower and Kothophed are all fine creatures on their own that don't need an aura to kick ass.

Topan Freeblade and Child of Night are EXCELLENT with Nimbus Wings as is Blood Cursed Knight.. 4/5 flying Freeblade dominates and 3/3 Flying Child of Night races very well.. 5/5 Blood Cursed Knight makes such massive life swings that you don't really have to care too much what your opponent does. 5/5 flying Winnower is pretty much impossible to block for any deck besides Thopters. Heliod's Pilgrim has two tutor targets: Nimbus Wings and Suppression Bonds. Evasion or Removal. The crappy 1/2 body is pretty useless other than Fleshbag protection.. but the tutor is super valuable. Suppression Bonds has been great.. especially vs the EvoLeap decks.

The spots I feel are debatable are:

2x Blessed Spirits - it's alright. It gets through a little bit of damage.. I wish I had more auras to trigger it.
2x Shadows of the Past - it hasn't really done anything, I put it in to trigger Blood-Cursed Knight and to give me some better draws.
2x Hixus - he's been alright. I can take hits thanks to the lifegain.. and opponent's never see him coming. The 4/4 body is just gravy.

Kothophed is the card I really want to see every game. He just wins so hard in this deck. If I can go Freeblade/Child of Night on T2, T3 Nimbus Wings on one of them, then ride them (playing other stuff of course) until I drop Kothophed, I'll win pretty much everytime. The only loss I've had so far has been to a Golgari deck that spammed 3 Acid Mosses and wrecked me because I got stuck on 2-3 black mana.

This isn't supposed to be a go-fast aura deck like Boros.. it wants to play into the mid/late game and win with superior power.

@Barney: The reason I don't want Knight of the White Orchid and Consul's Lieutenant is bc I'm trying to stay away from the early double white, and bc they aren't so hot with Nimbus Wings. The reason there's no Grasp of the Hieromancer is bc that aura isn't very good with Child of Night and Topan Freeblade.. Nimbus Wings is MUCH better on those two particular creatures.

there's got to be better two drops than that.

Knight of the White Orchid off the top of my head
Is Gilt-Leaf your removal?
Where is the Grasp of the Hieromancer?? So much better than Nimbus Wings.
I think one Hixus is enough

I tried WB Auras/Aggro, the black cards just suck. With that said, if I were to revisit it I would look at Thornbow Archer as a nice one-drop to hang enchantments on.

I'll explain more after I work on the post. It's basically a midrange deck that uses auras/lifegain to get to the lategame.

It looks similar to a deck I've been sketching out. For fun, I've been building decks featuring each gold card. Have you thought about Tragic Arrogance, maybe instead of Hixus? It's pretty strong with Suppression Bonds on one of their critters or Wings on one of yours. (Just hope they aren't running Evoleap.)

I have considered Tragic Arrogance.. I just wanted to try Hixus first bc of the 4/4 body. I'm trying to run creatures that do stuff instead of spells that do stuff. I'd love to have Bitter Revelation, but it's just a spell.. Kothophed draws me cards and has a strong body. I'll probably run a few experiments with Tragic Arrogance.. it fits here.

Suppression Bonds is common. Kytheon is a powerful card.. but he'd be pretty difficult to flip in a slower deck like this.

Ok.. I got this thing hummin' now. I have been working on this deck all week.. at least 50+ games. I'm pretty proud of it. I'm about to leave for 2+ weeks to go on back to back fishing trips, and I really wanted to get this thing as close to perfect as possible.

The last hurdle was figuring out how to get in some more draw besides Kothophed, and how to stop flooding out. I had INSANE flood issues with this deck the whole time until the end list I'm about to type. Bitter Revelation and Evolving Wilds saved the day. Wilds thinned the deck and Revelation gave me the late game gas I needed while allowing me to filter out (annoying) big clumps of land.

This deck has incredible staying power. The lifegain will keep you alive vs aggro and it mitigates the downside of Bitter Revelation and Kothophed. You have answers for everything except enchantments that don't need to be activated (Thopter Spy Network, Valor in Akros, Shadows of the Past, etc.) but Suppression Bonds is your out to Evolutionary Leap.. and it's tutorable. The removal package had to get slimmed down to fit in Bitter Revelation, but I think it's worth it since you can dig for removal now.

I present to you: Orzhov Midrange/Lifegain/Control/Auras/Flyers.. thing. I dunno.. what would you call it? Orzhov Value? Mega Orzhov? It does a lot of things.

4x Topan Freeblade (Great with Nimbus Wings, dominant.. probably the best opener in the deck)
4x Child of Night (Great with Nimbus Wings, races like a boss.. second best opener)
4x Nimbus Wings (Great on Freeblade, Child, Knight, Spirits, Winnower, Irregulars. So good in this list. Gets our guys out of Languish/Reave Soul range except Child of Night)
3x Reave Soul (Our answer to key creatures like Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen, Chief of the Foundry, Willbreaker, Jorubai, Planeswalkers, Llys Alana Huntmaster, etc.)

2x Blessed Spirits (If you can find a better fit for this slot.. be my guest, but the extra flying body that grows a little has been relevant)
2x Heliod's Pilgrim (Great in this list, I'd like to see one every game.. but not more than one)
3x Blood-Cursed Knight (Excellent creature, shuts down most aggro, races like a king, great clock with Nimbus Wings)

1x Archangel of Tithes (Pure quality)
2x Kytheon's Irregulars (More quality, lets you push through damage)
2x Suppression Bonds (Severely underrated card here, if I were to cut anything.. it would be to get a 3rd copy of this back in the list)
4x Bitter Revelation (Maybe this could be 3x.. but it's been superb.. I'm never sad to see one, or even two)

1x Hixus, Prison Warden (This is our sweeper, he is a blowout.. always happy to see him. We can take the hit, because of all the lifegain)
2x Gilt-Leaf Winnower (This has been a mediocre performer, probably bc I see lots of Elf decks.. but the removal+menace+a 4/3 body is just too much value)

2x Kothophed, Soul Hoarder (The king himself, he is an absolute all-star in this deck. All the lifegain negates his drawback)

8x Plains
6x Swamp
2x Isolated Chapel
4x Orzhov Guildgate
4x Evolving Wilds (This card is such a blessing here. Flood WRECKS this deck unless you have Kytheon's Irregulars on the board. The thinning is super helpful)

Please.. give this thing some play. You won't regret it.
