CovertGo Blue, does the singleton Llanowar Empath do much in your build? Perhaps Gilt-Leaf Winnower would make more of an impact.

Does it do much? Well, it does what I want it to do. If it is turn 4 I want to be casting Huntmaster or Dwynen to start getting ahead and pushing into the midgame. If I have neither of those, I want to get closer to them, hence the one-of Empath. I don't mind Winnower, in theory or practice there are a lot of places when he would "do more". My line of thought is that I want to keep my removal cheap and efficient, and there is already a lot of it, so I keep my opponent from getting a real grip on the game, then I drop my clutch Elves and take over the game. To that end, Winnower can really pile onto the snowball on the right board, but Winnower is still no Huntmaster or elf lord. If you want to run something else over the Empath I wont call you stupid, but in the event that I don't have an awesome four-drop Elf all I really want in the world is to get one ASAP, so I go with Empath.

The problem i see with this deck is that it doesnt have nearly enough finishers and because it lacks larger creatures it doesn't make use of the evo leap as well as other decks would. One or two larger creatures would change this.

While I swapped out one Reave Soul for a Necromantic Summons, it really doesn't need it. It doesn't need finishers. It has inevitability. It just grinds your opponents hopes into dust. And their board even better.

I disagree. There are only so many times you can remove threats until they are too big. Unless you have Fleshbag and the threat is solo, or a Cruel Revival and you can target it, it runs the game. Blue's Gruul deck is a perfect example of that. They will trample over our 3/1s and 2/2. You need bodies as well to win.

Golgari Control
4 x Perilous Myr
4 x Gatecreeper Vines
4 x Elvish Visionary
1 x Shadows Of The Past
2 x Evolutionary Leap
3 x Reave Soul
1 x Liliana, Herectical Healer
3 x Fleshbag Marauder
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2 x Reclamation Sage
1 x Erebo's Titan
2 x Gravedigger
2 x Languish
1 x Gilt-Leaf Winnower
2 x Cruel Revival
1 x Necromatic Summons
1 x Woodland Bellower
2 x Gaea's Revenge
6 x Swamp
6 x Forest
2 x Woodland Cemetery
1 x Foundry Of The Consuls
4 x Golgari Guildgates
4 x Evolving Wilds

This is my updated list and is running pretty smooth. It has threat management as well as bodies to trade with if things get crazy. Those also act as win conditions.

What made you swap the Rogue's Passage for Foundry Of The Consuls? I really dig the Passage and have not wished it was a Foundry once. It's especially great with Outland Colossus, hit them twice with a Visionary early on or shoot them in the face with a Myr and then swing twice with the Colossus. GGs

I'm still a little hesitant about Gilt-Leaf Winnower. I find that too often they don't have a target for it. But I guess 1 is fine considering it has a pseudo-evasion and decent stats.

Well, when I was rocking Outland Colossus, it was a good card. Out of the Biggins it could target now, only Winnower, Bellower, and Erebo can use it. With Foundry, I found that having an 'oh ****' blocker is worth it. If nothing else, it's sac bait for Evolpea. It has been one of the reasons I have recovered from several great plays against me and won the game. It has worked so well I have considered upping it to two, but one has served me well so far.

As far as Winnower, let me tell you a trick. Swing in to Renowned Outland Colossus for example with a Visionary. It suddenly is suddenly a 12/11 when it blocks. Winnower kills it at the cost of one Visionary. Any doubts I had on this card are taken away for that one reason. As long as something changes the P/T, it's a valid target. So long as it isn't an Elf. Not to mention it kills all Planeswalkers except Chandra and Nissa.

That doesn't work because it doesn't change the P/T, it just marks damage on the creature.

Just read up a bit on Damage as defined by MtG. It shouldn't do it, but it did. Gonna have to try and duplicate the time it worked. Might have been a glitch. But that would explain why Zendikar Incarnate dies. It's a 0/4 when. It enters the battlefield. Lands become buffs rather the an actual change in stats.

Stainless headquarters consist of interns still studying computer science.

Yeah, it's some kind of glitch. Just did it again. The previous game though it didn't work with the same pieces on the board again a different creature. Long and short of it, it shouldn't work. As it stands, I wouldn't expect it to work often. Winnower is still great as a value piece.

Also, the choice is to Necromatic Summons the sacrificed GR right back into swinging with +2/+2.

Been testing some change in mana and like where it's going. Here is what I'm currently running:

Golgari Control
4 x Perilous Myr
4 x Gatecreeper Vines
4 x Elvish Visionary
1 x Shadows Of The Past
2 x Evolutionary Leap
3 x Reave Soul
1 x Liliana, Herectical Healer
3 x Fleshbag Marauder
1 x Nissa, Vastwood Seer
2 x Reclamation Sage
1 x Erebo's Titan
2 x Gravedigger
2 x Languish
1 x Gilt-Leaf Winnower
2 x Cruel Revival
1 x Necromatic Summons
1 x Woodland Bellower
2 x Gaea's Revenge
5 x Swamp
5 x Forest
2 x Woodland Cemetery
3 x Foundry Of The Consuls
1 x Rogue's Passage
4 x Golgari Guildgates
3 x Evolving Wilds

I'm liking it so far. I am really keeping a sharp eye when Foundy and Passage pop up. I am making sure I am not getting flooded with Brown Lands.

I emailed it to myself. Maybe I will try it on Mega's account and see how he does.

It's a fun list. A lot of people don't like running singleton decks, but I have found use in it. You see it quite a bit in pro decks as they try to prepare for threats in the Pro Tour.

Not only is it fun, it is also effective. Locke's list and mine only vary about 1-2 cards at this point...good against all the common decks in the meta.

You run that list solo? It's pretty solid.
