Putting this up for razorborne since no one else is going to, but doing it the lazy way because I'm tired and I daresay listless and disconnected right now.

I'll go ahead and vote yea on this, though with a bit of stress that... I sort of want to know how wolves build boats and use tools. It's not a major thing, but it really really makes me want it to be thought through. The intelligent wolves bit doesn't cause me any pause though, because that has precedent.

I mainly picture them steering ships and such with their jaws, but for working tools, nothing says they can't have oppossable digits on their front paws. just because they're not wolf-people doesn't mean they need to be exactly physically identical to earth wolves. maybe they have regular paws but the inner-most digit can flip around to function like a simple thumb.

alternatively, magic.

I'll be honest, I'm also bothered by the whole "wolves building ships" thing. I suppose I could buy the opposable digits on their paws explanation (more so than the magic one), but I guess I would prefer to see that casually mentioned in the story rather than simply hand-waved, because it is, to me, a logical question to ask.

I also think that the ships would be pretty basically different than human ships since their needs are essentially different. They'd probably greater resemble barges or skiffs rather than galleons. I mean, it isn't a problem with me, really, but it's a logic puzzle and I'm drawn to figuring that sort of thing out.

I agree it's a logical question to ask, and one I'll definitely answer more thoroughly if/when I submit Ossia as a whole, but it's not something that's really relevant to the story itself and it doesn't seem like something that can be inserted casually enough to be worth the space.

As I mentioned in the original thread, I really like this story. I also find Ossia as a whole intriguing, and look forward to seeing where it will go.

Also, I want to add that I know that Razor is a strong contributor to the quality of these forums, and I think it would benefit us to have that strength added to the M:EM.

Well, you put a lot of work into 3CM, which I think is cool (I'm hoping to get back in there soon if my life allows). Also, you are one of the most prolific YMTC contributors, both in running and participating in contests (which is easy to prove based on the fact that your avatar says "YMTC Champ", and your sig includes a high-profile contest that you are running. Also, Ossia).

After a great deal of thought, I have decided to vote "Yea" on this, on the grounds that it's a well-written piece and an interesting story. The thing with the wolf-ships still bothers me a little, but I agree this is not the story to address the issue. The problem comes from the fact that voting this story in also means that Ossia is indirectly in, and Ossia, according to this story, has non-humanoid wolves that work ships. It's something that I'll be keeping my eyes on in Ossia's future, but in general, I like this piece well enough to vote "Yea" to it and to razorborne.
