alright i just tested it out a few times with Cruel Revival, and it definitely performs better than Flesh to Dust. i dunno what i was thinking. i realized though that the Possessed Skaabs get exiled if they die instead of going to the graveyard, so there are only 5 zombies in the deck that CR has synergy with, but just the Fleshbag Marauders alone make it worth it. i'm sorry i doubted anyone about it.

Well last night i had a pretty lengthy match with a Golgori deck using Evoleap. i ended up winning, but it would have taken a lot less time if i could have done something about the Evoleap. And then later I ended up losing a lengthy control matchup because of Sphinx's Tutelage. I'm thinking of shelving Grixis for now and working on my Esper list, since it has access to Angelic Edict, which was an absolutely stellar card last season. I'm also trying to perfect a 4 color build that's Dimir at its core with just a small splash each of White and Red for the same reason, but i reeeaaaally wish we had some trilands.

okay I was gonna stream my changes to the deck but twitch is being a jerk atm so I'll just post the new list
Chandra's Control (jank) 1.5
AKA: WTF WHY?
4 x Fiery Impulse
1 x Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
4 x Alchemist's Vial
2 x Disperse
1 x Ravaging Blaze
3 x Twin Bolt
2 x Reave Soul
3 x Fleshbag Marauder
1 x Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh
3 x Sphinx's Tutelage
4 x Artificer's Epiphany
1 x Erebos's Titan
2 x Languish
1 x Disciple of the Ring
2 x Cruel Revival
2 x Necromantic Summons
5 x Island
5 x Swamp
4 x Mountain
2 x Drowned Catacomb
2 x Sulfur Falls
2 x Dragonskull Summit
4 x Evolving Wilds

Alright real quick walk through the changes:
Erebos's Titan over Av Dragon: 5/5 survives languish, Dragon only really helped in the aura matchup and in all other cases was a win more/less depending how fast it gets removed oh and titan can block the jolly green giant
-3 telling time -1 twin bolt +4 Vial: Vial actually draws unlike telling time turns off the discard on my other draw spell I added and can lock down an opp creature.... other then GR (stupid psudo-shroud)
-3 read the bones -1 firecraft +4 Epiphany Vial is in the deck now so this is strictly better then read the bones, and firecraft.. idk seemed like it was the worst burn spell since I'm always looting it away

hopefully now my deck is a sufficiant amount of non jank for mobius and hakeem to not get mad (y u hav b mad?)

Seriously though thanks to DJ for the draw package suggestion much better then my old one (and to anyone that commented on my rant thread really)
and thanks mobius for calling me out on my jank with Av Dragon (even though he won't see this he deserves a spot here)
and thanks hakeem for streaming the old deck and giving the world that AMAZING game where you won because of Av Dragon
Edit: how could I forget to thank danno the only person who thought I was even close to being sane on this crazy train. love you danno <3
now to figure out how to fix my mana...

Any update?

Would love some advice on grixis deck I'm building, needs some work but I think it has a place at the top. This deck is inspired by Auunj jund / covertgoblue remix, viewtopic.php?f=52&t=10304&p=348814#p348814

I'm trying to keep it simple, stupid. Just removal and burn, thopters (+ their maker) and 5/5 demon for the win. Works pretty well, if you guys can see what end I am trying for, your criticism will be that much more valuable

Yes I think splashing blue is worth it for one card.

Deck is working well in testing in that when my thopters or priest come out, people are often using 2 cards to handle my 1 card threat, and so keeping card advantage

4 Fiery impulse
2 bone splinters
4 perilous myr
4 twin bolt
3 fleshbag marauder
4 read the bones
2 exquisite firecraft
3 whirler rogue
2 pia and kiran nalaar
1 languish
3 cruel revival
2 priest of the blood rite
1 necromantic summons

(25 land)
4 island
4 swamp
4 mountain
2 drowned catacomb
2 sulfur falls
2 dragonskull summit
2 dimir guildgate
2 izzet guildgate
3 rakdos guildgate

Now I'm thinking 4 dragon fodder, whirlers, pia and kiran, 2 priest of the blood rite and just go grixis tokens. I can't make up my mind. Will be back later -.-

If you go Priest of the Blood Rite then you should keep Bonesplinters. I'll give this list a shot with 2 Priests in place of 2 Necromantic summons. I don't want a situation where I end up with 2-3 of them AND cruel revival in hand. The demons would make for great finishers since there aren't many reach creatures or flying decks (bar thopters) in the meta, plus dodging Languish/Reave Soul/Exquisite Firecraft. I've lost to a Priest cast turn 5 a few times.

I'll get back to you, would love a consistent Grixis deck and so far control lacks wincons if it wants the necessary draw/removal.

Added those changes bounce, you're right I can't sit on that many 5 mana spells. Priest is actually damn good card and quite underused.

Current deck list is going alright, it's my favourite grixis build so far, I much much prefer this type of build to most of the other decks posted in this thread. People want grixis to look a certain way on paper, and it doesn't have to. If the deck doesn't shine with all the bounce / burn / kill / blah blah usual, it's time to look elsewhere I guess

Agreed. Funny that the 2 most consistent control decks in this format (Sultai Turbofog and my own Temur Control) are both using more than 10 creatures and have green in them. Shame, but Grixis just doesn't have the finishing power for control.

Right Beeswax. Results:

Game 1 - Dimir Control. Loss. Some weird artifact bounce theme. I got no early drops bar 1 Myr + 3 twin bolts that had no creature targets and by the time I'd cast Priest twice, he'd Languished/Reave soul'ed the token away. Once he had Disciple of the RIng out it was over really.

Game 2 - Juund Trash. Loss. Evoleap hit the board turn 3 with only a Myr again for 3 turns until Pia hit the board. They then cast their own Pia turn 4. Turn 5 I twinbolted his Thopters and sac'ed Myr for his Pia. Turn 6 they played Woodland Bellower to fetch Reclamation Sage and knock out a Thopter, which I used cruel revival to eliminate. Got him down to 5 life, but no card draw meant top decking until I lost. Got real bored of him popping Evoleap 4+ times a turn...

Off to see my folks down south now so I'll give this another try later. Initial thoughts are "too slow, not enough gas". By the time this comes online turns 3-5, midrange is online and aggro will be ahead if you don't have the removal.

I have been playing this deck for the last few matches and I think it is behaving extremely well in the current Steam meta. My main concern though is the manabase: the few games that I have lost using this deck were due to mana screw. Also, I feel that cards like Chandra don`t belong here, because of the RR in the casting cost. Erebos Titan is extremely good in this deck, but the BBB for casting him really messes me up... with that in mind I suggest removing Chandra and adding a 25th land, besides readjusting the manabase to allow to cast the titan on turn 4-7 in the majority of matches.
This Titan is fantastic against GR, who is my main concern when I play other Mill decks, such as my current favorite, the Sultai Fog Machine.

yeah like I've said chandra isn't needed 25th land is probably the right call, should probably just bite the bullet and replace the wilds for actual guildgates

okay time for a new post since I've actually tinkered with it some more, jank (chandra) is gone and the deck is probably more stable for it.

I've also considered -1 ravaging blaze + 1 thopter spy network, helps with illing makes blockers, can end games on it's own. Only problem is I kinda need an alchemist's vial up to get it active so don't know if it's quite right currently

Heil Bolas

Are you dead set on Sphinx Tutelage as your main wincon? I wonder how Embermaw Hellion, Kothophed, Nightfire Giant, Jorubai, etc. would perform here.

don't like nightfire, not enough burn for embermaw, meh jorubai, kothophed would probably work, but the thing is I have 3 actual creatures jace, titan, and disciple. jace is definatly the most vulnirable creature but he's just too good in a creature-lite deck to not include. Titan is usually indestructable. Disciple has spell pierce at the very least and is also too good in creature-lite decks to not include. Any other creatures would be such removal magnets it's not even worth trying to add them

edit: let me give an example to get my point across, I just faced an RDW deck. I had my oppoent in full lockdown (he only had burn and auras in hand) I land jace, twin bolted away. right before he quits the opponent throws a firecraft and a twin bolt at my face. jorubai would probably be the only creature I consider as if I had taken 6 more points of damage thats the end for me. and that little guy would help stave off the cold inevitability of death

I don't get the Nightfire hate. The card isn't OMG SO AWESOME! But it's pretty solid.. it blocks/attacks well.. kills trash at instant speed which saves you cards, 4 turn clock.. can be brought back with Cruel Revival.

Big K is a stud, but only if you don't get smashed in the early game. You have a lot of early removal.. he could be good.
