I'm going to first echo Mown in that your tastes seem to be all over the place.

I'm look for animes that 1) I can enjoy and 2) watch with my daughter (she's 6), hopefully 3) finding some in both categories. So my tastes are very disjointed. I am getting a lot of word of mouth suggestions along with whatever I stumble upon.

I'm going to put Puella Magi Madoka Magicka higher on my list.

I just finished Heaven's Note Pad.
It definitely needs an extension. The ending was like "No". While it was a good ending for a season, it's terrible for a series ending.

I hate when I start watching an anime and then it ends before the story finishes, and you never hear from it again.
Accel World, I'm looking at you!

Magic Knight Rayearth then. It is a little old, but it can be watched by youngsters without any problem, it has some resemblances to Sailor Moon and it is deep enough to satisfy less exigent adults.

Edit: I found a video of the first episode at youtube. It is a great anime, not a mature one, but much more mature and interesting than most anime directed to the same public.

Watch all the (good) Ghibli movies.
Also Millenium Actress, Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and Summer Wars.

Do NOT watch Madoka Magica with your six-year-old daughter. It's 13 episodes long and only the first 45 minutes are suitable for children.

I'll pretty much agree with this. I was not aware of any bad Ghibli movies, though, and I have yet to see The Girl Who Leapt Through Time although I have thought to for some time.

I watched Etotama with my 2 kids (5 and 6, 2 boys).
Ep 1 I looked up which Chinese Zodiac they were and ever since that moment they looked forward to the point 'their' character would be on screen.

One of them is a tiger, the other a rat. So they were pretty excited overall since they pop up enough.

I wasn't a big fan of Gedo Senki, and the Cat Returns was subpar.
Arietti turned out to be entertaining enough, but that one also didn't really manage to accomplish much in-story.

I just discovered that I have apparently watched Straight Jacket. I say I just discovered this because I found a quote in an old notebook, and looking it up tells me it's from Straight Jacket. I'll have to look into it to see if I actually remember watching it or not.

Fair enough; it wasn't clear by your post if that's what you intended.

Finished season one of Psycho Pass. Not exactly perfect, but perfect enough for a 10. Definitively a 10.

It was okay. The main character got progressively more and more annoying as it became obvious she wasn't going to actually develop a character at any point, the dystopian future rated pretty high on the 'this is absolute bull!' scale and a lot of the tech could use a little more explanation but hey it was okay.

My only complaint about psycho pass was Akane's haircut.
You know it's a good show when I start judging characters on looks instead of on character, or plot depth. :p

The setting is awesome. The plot has some holes, but it is great most of the time and with some nice twists. Characterization is the weak point, only major characters are developed and even so barely, but it gets the job done for a person to care about them. And who cares for characterization when the other aspects are really great.

Add to that some psychology and philosophy, some action too as an afterthought, and the receipt for a great anime is really certain.

It reminded me of the Bioshock series, I'm kind of disappointed that the ending was so sudden. I was hoping they would spend some more time with the riots; or even if story-wise they were more severe.

I love chaos, and mental stuff. Like the Joker is one of my favorite characters of any show anytime.

Started Baccano! Many lists of mature anime included this anime, so I decided to give it a shot. I will finish it, and I also understand why people like it, but this is a case where at first episode I knew I would never love it.

The list of good mature animes is dwindling very fast. :/

When you say mature, do you mean "not for kids", or "adults only"?

There is something really wrong with this question, but...

"For a good understander, a half word is enough."

So not hentai.

Okay, When I see mature, I think hentai.
I just say not kid friendly, because I'd either watch it with my duaghter, or not.

Does mature anime have to be not for kids?
