I haven't unlocked everything yet, so my goal was to make an excellent grinding deck. And rakdos has proved its merit.

2 x goblin arsonist
4 x bone splinters

4 x perilous myr
2 x despoiler of souls

2 x fleshbag marauder
3 x thopter engineer
3 x ghirapur gearcrafter
2 x exquisite firecraft
3 x act of treason

2 x enthralling victor
3 x blazing hellhound

2 x priest of the blood rite

Nantuko husk is just an MVP in this deck. A 0 mana sac outlet is very useful and allows you to do things like turn 3 husk, turn 4 enthralling victor, which is just a devastating tempo swing. Enthralling victor would be my second favorite card, aggressive body and easily swings things into your favor.

I run 6 thopter maker cards. I like the combination of evasion + high total power/toughness + 2 bodies. Also, unlike dragon fodder, they are creatures. They are well worth the extra mana compared to dragon fodder.

One card that has been an absolute MVP is Despoiler of Souls. He has been notably absent from some of these lists. He provides counter synergy to gravedigger, shadows of the past, cruel revival etc. but he is well worth it for an aggressive deck. An aggressive creature that doubles as sac fodder? Count me in.

First thing I would do after unlocking is probably add act of treason #3. Exquisite firecraft has been performing poorly and I might want to replace them with the 4 mana treason effect. Treason effects are super reliable in this deck with 13 sac outlets.

This is my first "good" deck. It's probably something like 20-2.. both losses coming to Dimir Control simply bc of card advantage. The blue AND black draw combined is just too much for this deck to overcome. However, it's beaten every other deck/archetype handily.

Rakdos Control

4x Fiery Impulse

4x Shambling Ghoul
4x Twin Bolt
3x Reave Soul

1x Liliana
3x Fleshbag Marauder
4x Read the Bones
1x Chandra
2x Exquisite Firecraft

1x Erebos's Titan
2x Languish

2x Embermaw Hellion
2x Chandra's Ignition
2x Cruel Revival

2x Kothophed

9x Swamp
8x Mountain
6x Taplands

Look ma! No Perilous Myr! Lol.. it was in here with Bone Splinters for awhile, but I think the above list is better. Twin Bolt, Feiry Impulse, and Reave Soul do a fine job keeping the board clear early. The instant speed of the red spells has been relevant, and they're key in getting Chandra to flip.. and if she does it's GG every time. She kills opponents so much faster than Liliana.

If you like killing all the things.. this is one you'd probably enjoy.

Lol

I'm going heavy Radios myself but because of lack of cards, it's like the special Olympics trying to get this thing going. Undefeated online but I'm low rank still. AI is giving me mo problems than real opponents. I want moar cards!!! Grrr

I am not going to post my list again but I successfully hit the gold cap tonight for the first time. I am 2100 gold or so away from unlocking everything. Got my 3rd fleshbag and 3rd victor. So. Much. Value.

Anyway my deck is in kinda a weird place. The curve should be more 2 drops and less 3 drops, but there is just so much utility in the 3 spot. I have 9 2 drop creatures but only five of them are aggressive. This is mostly a grind deck vs AI so getting run over by aggro is a real non-issue. Even with this slow curve I win on turn 6 like 75% of the time, like clockwork. I have been timing myself and this deck wins at around 4 minutes every times, RDW isn't much faster.

Kinda off topic at this point, but I will note there is a real incentive for me to just grind vs AI directly. 15 gold vs 20 gold isn't a big difference, I don't have to deal with connection issues, I can relax and take a break whenever I want, and I have a 90% winrate against the artificial idiot. I have limited time to grind and I want to finish my set, but the AI is pretty boring. My rakdos list is good enough for AI grinding so I don't really care about improving it that much. Anyone else facing this dilemma?

Just quote one of my recent posts with a list in it and learn how to use deck tags. You don't have to autocard each individual card.

Beast, I don't know the cards :( net-decking for me is hell now without Mr. P's thing since I gotta float over each card to see what the heck it does. So tedious.

Henwen, I was worried I'd have that same problem so here's what you do: Always get one MP win per day. It's 40 gold, which is nuts. And it'll incentivize you to keep your deck competitive (and not just grinding fodder vs the AI). This is going to keep the game really fresh during the grinding process for me. One MP win per day, that's it and the rest is AI. The MP match is enough to motivate me to optimize my deck.

Hey im new to Magic, I just downloaded Origins 3 days ago. This is my first experience of Magic of any kind. I'm currently running a red/black deck because Liliana (man if you get her ult off, its game over. lol. :D ) Most of the good cards I got from boosters are red & black. So heres my current decklist. I hover around rank 8-12

Deck list:

x2 Goblin Glory Chaser
x2 Goblin Arsonist
x4 Perilous Myr
x2 Abbot Of The Keral Keep
x1 Liliana
x4 Bloodflow Connoisseur
x1 Erebos Titan
x2 Gravedigger
x2 Embermaw Hellion
x1 Kothophed Soul Hoarder

x4 Bone Splinters
x3 Twin Bolt
x1 Bitter revelation
x4 Traitorous instinct
x2 Rise from The Grave
x1 Chandra's Ignition

x9 Swamp
x9 Mountain
x2 Dragon Summit
x2 foundry consul (I also have two evolving woods, i'm not sure if they are better than this though. I lean more towards Foundry Consul because I can sac the tokens for Bloodflow connoisseur)
x2 Rakdos Guildgate

Now here is a list of my Black/Red rares:

x2 Despoiler of Souls
x1 Fleshbag Marauder
x1 Blightcaster
x1 Ravaging Blaze
x3 Gurmag Swiftwing
x3 Lys Alana Scarblade
x3 Gravedigger
x3 Nightfire Giant
x3 Rise From the Grave
x3 Ember Hauler
x3 Flaring Flame-kin
x1 Ghirapur AEther Grid
x3 kird Chieftain
x3 Barrage Ogre
x3 Into the Maw of Hell

I would appreciate any ideas or advice on what I should substitute in or out. Also what to add in the future once I grind gold for more boosters. Thank you.

I would swap out your bloodflow connoisseur for nantuko husk as soon as possible, the husk is such a good sacrifice outlet and is a godly combo with chandra's ignition.

Also i would swap Traitorous Instinct out for Enthralling Victor, same effect, but you get a crea that you can revive from your graveyard with your gravediggers!

Maybe add some ravaging blaze for finishers.

i took your advice and took 1 bloodflow out for 1 Nantuka i only have one but i plan on replacing all once i get more. would you rather run 2 gurmag shiftwings over 2 abbots? i do like the effect of the abbots but they arent really a 2 drop since you can get value out of their effect

First of all, it looks like a very good deck.

Looking at your deck list, my advice to you is don't be blinded by the rarity of the card.
I'm not sure, since I'm missing a lot of the cards, and you know how your deck is running better,
but it seems to me that Embermaw Hellion, Erebos Titan are not very good here. the hellion just doesn't buff a lot of things here. the titan is close to vanilla 5/5 in this meta (lots of creatures in the meta), and you don't have many effects that will trigger his return, it is hard to cast with 3 black mana. with these gone, I would also remove Rise from the grave. foundry consul is bad here because you need mana fixing here, and the effect it has is too expensive, if you want to sacrifice two creatures to bloodflow Connoisseur, you are better of with dragon fodder.
Cards that I think are good here are: Goblin Arsonist, fleshbag marauder, black's scry and draw effects, perhaps despoiler of souls. About bloodflow/husk and instinct/victor I don't think you need to swap all the copies, if I get 2 from bloodflow+husk I would want to have an even split, same with instinct+victor.

I've spent the morning working on the Rakdos steal/sacrifice archetype and I've discovered that the stealing really isn't all that necessary. I have kept three copies of Act of Treason in my list, though, because it helps me remove blockers and power through damage to my opponent. This isn't an aggressive deck per se, but it is capable of some very large burst damage out of nowhere.

In the game I just played, my opponent was on 12 with me on 2 and he has lethal in the air. I have a Nantuko Husk in play alongside a Flameshadow Conjuring and only a Subterranean Scout in my hand (well I had a land, but you get the idea). I topdeck Graveblade Marauder like a champ and play it, getting a hasted copy via Conjuring. Then I play the Scout targetting my Nantuko Husk, get a hasted copy Via Conjuring, and target the Graveblade Marauder token. The Husk sacrifices the two actual cards, putting them in my graveyard, and I swing with an unblockable 6/6 Husk and an unblockable Graveblade with 6 creatures in my graveyard for lethal+1.

Anyway, I'm still tweaking so I'll probably have it up on YouTube tomorrow or the next day. I'll post the list now, though, just to generate some discussion:

4 x Rakdos Guildgate
2 x Dragonskull Summit
1 x Rogue's Passage
9 x Swamp
8 x Mountain

4 x Goblin Arsonist
4 x Bone Splinters

4 x Perilous Myr
1 x Subterranean Scout
1 x Shadows of the Past

1 x Liliana, Heretical Healer
2 x Graveblade Marauder
3 x Fleshbag Marauder
4 x Nantuko Husk
3 x Act of Treason

3 x Gravedigger
1 x Pia and Kiran Nalaar
2 x Flameshadow Conjuring

2 x Priest of the Blood Rite
1 x Cruel Revival

Some notes on the choices:

Goblin Arsonist - This cheap little guy is an easy sacrifice and turns on Bone Splinters for just one additional mana.

Bone Splinters - We have eight cheap creatures that we don't mind sacrificing early. Then later in the game, Priests and Flameshadow Conjuring tokens are excellent fodder for this spell.

Perilous Myr - This guy is the better Goblin Arsonist.

Subterranean Scout - One copy of this card can let us deal some serious burst damage through Nantuko Husk and Graveblade Marauder and we have no qualms about sacrificing it and picking it back up via Gravedigger to do it all over again. Flameshadow lets us double the EtB.

Shadows of the Past - Hard not to include a copy of this card in a deck that struggles to gain card advantage. Scrying is the main reason to play it but our graveyard will fill up so we can burn people out with it.

Liliana - Stuff dying all over the place makes her easy to flip and we don't mind chucking stuff in the graveyard because we can get it back or just power up Graveblade. I haven't gotten the chance to create a second copy via Flameshadow and keep it, but I want to to see if Stainless will let me flip a token into a Planeswalker.

Graveblade Marauder - An excellent early defensive creature that turns into a win condition in the late game.

Fleshbag Marauder - Just an Edict, but since it's a creature we can pull it back through Gravedigger. Flameshadow turns it into a one-sided Barter in Blood.

Nantuko Husk - This guy is tremendous, as long as he's not naked on the board he's immune to Reave Soul, Twin Bolt, and Fiery Impulse. He also hits pretty hard and we have a couple of ways to make him unblockable. Sometimes you'll Flameshadow this guy then sacrifice the actual card to get in for four out of nowhere. He's just great with Flameshadow in general because it keeps him well-fed.

Act of Treason - I dropped to three because it's really not an essential part of the strategy, but it still can deal a lot of damage and disable a key blocker. Killing the thing afterwards is just gravy.

Gravedigger - This is how we generate card advantage in this deck, we just keep fetching stuff back. Awesome with Flameshadow Conjuring to grab two things back and maybe get in for two.

Pia and Kiran Nalaar - It's not a core card, but it is a lot of value for four mana since you get three bodies and the ability plays very nicely with Perilous Myr, which we can recur through Gravediggers if we want to. Since it's just a value card and it's Legendary, we'll just play one. You can still Flameshadow it to get two extra artifacts, and on some boards you'll probably sacrifice the actual card and swing with the hasted copy, only to dig it back up later.

Flameshadow Conjuring - An overlooked card in this archetype, I think. It generates a tremendous amount of value for a very small cost. There are lots of synergies all across the board here and I'm sure I haven't even discovered half of them yet. The second copy isn't an actual dead draw, but it taxes the mana hard and if you have time to cast both of these then you're already doing well. There's so much value, though, that I think you have to run both. It's been that good.

Priest of the Blood Rite - Nice big flying body and we can rid ourselves of the drawback easily enough. Then we can dig it back up and do it again. Also amazing with Flameshadow Conjuring.

Cruel Revival - This card was almost Chandra's Ignition because I like how that card works with Nantuko Husk and Graveblade Marauder, but I'm not sure. Revival is obviously awesome here to kill almost anything and we have a lot of zombies in the deck, so we're almost always going to get a card out of it. It's entirely possible that this should just be land #25, but I need to play more games.

I am pretty sure this wouldn't work due to legendary unless somehow you are saying to Flip in response to token coming in but doesn't PW have legendary or would have to follow pw rules i think that does not allow multiples.

Preferred Pronoun Set: babby
TL;DR: I like the Nantuko Husk + Chandra's Ignition potential. Currently running tokens to help create explosive Nantuko Husk plays, but it's not exactly aggressive so games can go long where some cards start to lose value. Looking to improve the list if possible while hopefully keeping the combo dream alive. Instead, I could utilize more or different ETBs, death triggers, and graveyard interations, along with Flameshadow Conjuring better emphasized in Hakeem's list above. See my current list below.

Spontaneous Combustion
Creatures:
2 Goblin Arsonist
4 Perilous Myr
4 Dragon Fodder
1 Liliana, Heretical Healer
4 Nantuko Husk
3 Thopter Engineer
1 Avaricious Dragon
2 Pia and Kiran Nalaar
2 Priest of the Blood Rite

Noncreatures:
1 Twin Bolt
2 Act of Treason
2 Exquisite Firecraft
4 Read the Bones
2 Chandra's Ignition

Lands:
2 Dragonskull Summit
2 Evolving Wilds
8 Mountain
4 Rakdos Guildgate
1 Rogue's Passage
7 Swamp

I run both copies of Chandra's Ignition because I liked the idea of having it as a combo piece with Nantuko Husk to deal massive burst damage on the spot if not usually outright winning the game. Maybe both copies are a bit much, since it can be pretty mediocre targeting something less than 4 power. In certain match ups a 2 power creature was adequate as an expensive board clear (been useful against thopters). However, with the number of 1 power creatures I currently have, I might be pushing the second copy hard just for my enjoyment. If I really want to continue with the card, I might have to consider modifying the list to incorporate more 2+ power creatures at the very least.

I ran 25 lands initially. I often didn't mind it since casting a Priest of the Blood Rite or Chandra's Ignition can be huge, but sometimes I felt I drew too much. Part of that might have been my deck's fault to not take advantage of late game flood. Still, I ended up cutting a land and increasing the count on Read the Bones. Some games were just a top deck slog so I liked the idea of having a way to refuel and filter draws in such a scenario and RtB can help with that. Useful for finding key cards or even lands to push past the three or four mana mark.

Avaricious Dragon is a fairly new addition added for similar reasoning above. The hand gets dumped kind of quick and he's been a nice beat stick often demanding response.

Exquisite Firecraft and the Twin Bolt provide a little extra reach. Twin Bolt is more to clean up some smaller guys without feeling forced to rely on an Arsonist or Myr to interact with them, but sometimes it domes the opponent. Firecraft on the other hand is a card I adore for its multiple roles. Main use is to burn opponents out in a race, but the damage is also high enough to deal with a number of threats or help clear a blocker.

Interest from Hakeem's list:
There are a couple concepts I think I should look into from here. I'm not sure why I haven't given Flameshadow Conjuring a test run yet, but it makes sense with a lot of creatures and in my list could mean more tokens off certain cards. I might have to reconsider Gravedigger and Fleshbag Marauder as well. Originally played a Gravedigger which felt just okay, but adding in the potential to get a double Raise Dead out of him is appealing.

I think I'll have to give Subterranean Scout a shot as well. With the realization that finding ways to make my guys unblockable would help push damage, this guy apparently went under my radar. Silly me since the effect is on a guy I can sac.

Graveblade Marauder has a great defensive ability and butt. I've been reluctant to try it because of the focus on tokens lowering the rate I'd fill up my graveyard with creatures at times.

I only recently opened Shadows of the Past and haven't tried it out, but it seems like a nice filter option. I love having scry in the format to filter draws the potential death triggers in these types of decks can let you scry down a bit with Shadows. Scry 1 is slightly annoying if you see something you want on the first trigger when multiple are going off though. Not to be deterred by that I probably should consider it. I don't think my current list takes advantage of it's activated ability without some modification though. Saccing a lot of tokens leaving the graveyard pretty bare in games as previously mentioned. I'll have to pay attention to my graveyard numbers in the future as having it around might be a nice mana sink+reach option. I've mostly relied on Exquisite Firecraft + Pia/Kiran for that currently.

Things I've tried or things that disappoint:
I've tested Blazing Hellhound as an additional sac outlet, but I've never been super impressed. Didn't like the ability too much or that I had to pay for it, but I did like having an extra four power creature to target with Ignition.

Foundry of the Consuls was another card I had in here, but I felt I wasn't activating it in games. In theory, it was to help the long game with extra attackers, reach with the Nalaar couple or extra ammo for Nantuko Husk. Instead, I've found myself in more situations where I was sitting with some small creatures that needed to sneak past blockers to help race. Rogue's Passage should help with that.

Dragon Fodder doesn't feel great a lot of times. I run it because it's an easy and cheap way to create some bodies for Husk, but it loses a lot of ground battles and a Twin Bolt can clean it up fairly easily. This is probably where I'd start cutting for other cheap costing cards, such as Subterranean Scout. Maybe Runed Servitor to pair with the slight artifact element. Even Shambling Ghoul could have potential that's an aggressive option that's slightly resistant to some burn.

Deadbridge Shaman was a decent card I've ran before. I probably liked it best against slower, spell-based controlling decks. Three power was great on an open board and getting a discard off death is a nice small advantage against them.

I'll be watching discussion on this archetype and where people take it as it's probably my favorite right now. Really enjoy Nantuko Husk and how it makes the combat phase a little more interesting.

I'm on my phone so I wish I could add a more detailed response, but I will totally be stealing the Avaricious Dragon tech from you, Brodo. Sometimes my deck removes all the things, but it has to sacrifice card advantage to do so and the topdeck wars are real. Dragon should help fight through that and with Conjuring we can get a pseudo-Stormbreath Dragon.

When you Flameshadow a Legendary, you get to choose which Legendary you keep. I want to keep the token and sacrifice the real card just to see if Stainless would let me flip a token into a Planeswalker.

After extensive tweaks and testing, I took this sweet thang out to ranked play tonight with ridiculous results. I went from rank 18 to 34 with only 2 losses. One loss was to a Sphinx's Tutelage deck that hit all of his fogs and stuck 2 Tutelages by turn 5. Not too much you can do there. The other loss was a close one to Gruul hitting 2 Mwonvuli Acid-Moss when I decided to keep a spicy 2 lander and drew poorly. Otherwise, if you have patience and can rock a Control build without being tempted to blow your load and instead opting to pass turn and aim for 2-for-1s, this deck is as tier 1 as I've seen so far.

Instead of an extensive and long winded card choice section, I'll just touch on the deck's main focus: deal with absolutely everything, but only if and when it's an actual threat. If your opponent says Turn 1 Child of Night or Elite Vanguard, you hold on to your instant speed removal until their next turn. Odds are they'll either play another 1 toughness chump or go cast an enchantment. With patience, as I said, the 2-for-1s abound.

You're not casting Exquisite Firecraft to their face as a rule, it's an out against a creature you can't kill with the rest of your huge removal suite. The goal is to put your opponent in top deck mode and drop your bombs/planeswalkers when the coast is clear. The 2 Ravaging Blazes are super finishers and usually go off for 10 or more by time you're ready to cast them.

Everything else is usual suspect type classic Rakdos. Embermaw Hellion makes Chandra and your burn package look like Modern Burn, and Erebos's Titan is usually indestructible due to your opponent's sad board state. OH, you'd like to Reprisal him? I'll shoot your board in response and you can make a sad face. Fleshbag Marauder gets rid of hexproof stragglers and flips Lily in a pinch. They're like best friends after that. Chandra's Ignition works amazingly as a board wipe, but also can gain you a butt ton of life if you target Lily with it.

Enjoy! Comments and suggestions are welcome.
