Tried this out. Not near as controlling as my Grixis build but ofc the gaea's revenge problem not a problem in this one. I think to make up for weaker draw Tragic Arrogance needs to be in here so we can have our 4 copies of sweepers. But, of course, this will probably play badly with enchantments so I don't know

Given it a couple of runs too. Works very well vs the problem cards control has like Gaea's/Titan, but this would feed Rakdos steal/aggro a free win something fierce. I was surprised by how well the roil did at holding of typical aggro decks, but the problem is wincon without Sigil of the Throne. Those 2/2's can't die for blocking AND attack, so you're stuck waiting for that specific enchantment. I also don't like how the panic button of Languish wipes your wincons too. Wiping the board is ok if you had a mass land producer (don't worry Hakeem I'm not going to recommend Animist's Awakening) but without an already transformed Nisa OR Gatecreeper Vine, you won't have any way to recover after you wipe.

The reliance on Read the Bones for card draw could be an issue but then you just add one Bitter Revelation as Bones #5. I don't think Tragic Arrogance would work with our enchantment gameplan but one copy could potentially be fine. I'll come back after I give it some spins.

@BounceBurnBuff, if you suspect you will be Languishing soon then you should be sand-bagging land in your hand rather than playing it out every turn.

Nothing wrong with the card draw, I just wish there was an enchantment tutor in the pool or another wincon besides massing up tokens that could just get wiped to stave off your opponent's massing board. TBH, large boards aren't that common now in white/green with the few aggro based token generators compared to 2015 so that might not be an issues cropping up often.

I think the most obvious choice for a sigil of the empty throne deck would be Bant. Black adds nothing enchantment wise. Blue adds claustrophobia, dehydration (OK not that great) and thopter network as a possible alternative win condition.

Besides that, tragic arrogance does work very well with pacifism effects. I think languish is nice to have but not 100% necessary.

The deck only has so many ways to trigger Sigil and by the time you find it you have probably cast half of them already. I not once created an Angel nor did I ever want to draw it.

Using Evo Leap in a creature-light deck seems bad but Zendikar's Roil fuels it and you can find your Nissa extremely reliably. This could be a thing.

There's promise but lots of work to do. Back to the drawing board.

After several matches where I wish I had Languish, I'm adamant now that Tragic Arrogance is a terrible card in the current meta. Thoptor decks laugh at being wiped when they essentially get 2 creatures to live ("artifact" clause when they had a Myr and unflipped Chandra alive) and thus still proc spynetwork. This was with a Bant version of Hakeem's Abzan enchant control.

Can you choose the same permanent for your creature as for your artifact? I can't see why you shouldn't be able to.

If you can the game won't let you. I selected Myr first as the first proc was "choose artifact". Then "Choose Enchantment" (spynetwork) into "Choose Creature" (Chandra unflipped). Not sure where planeswalker goes in this order?

It doesn't let you choose the same permanent twice.

According to the rulings on Gatherer I am correct so if what you're saying is true then that's a bug.

True to form then, the Myr wasn't orange highlighted and it kept prompting me to "choose a valid target" when clicking on it.

That's an interesting little list Hakeem. I will give it some play time today! (Have all unlocked on ios)

PS i know yall are talking about adding more board wipes. Have either of you considered Hixus, Prison Warden? Plays safe with your enchants.

You can choose the Perilous Myr as both the Artifact and the creature. I have done it twice (STEAM) and had no issues.

Yep you can definitely choose the same target twice with Tragic Arrogance if it fulfills two conditions, I have done it a few times.

I can promise you it prompted me to select another valid target upon asking for a creature selection. It would not allow me to select it. It is probably just another bug, there have been card activation one's too I've encountered where I cannot activate Sphinx's Tutelage or Evolutionary Leap.

I have the worst luck in history with this deck.. I flood out every damn game. I also feel there should be more board wipes and I am considering dropping a land for one of the tragic arrogance. Haven't won a single game yet..

So far matches have been vs aggro and elf decks.

Deck works well vs control since Suppression Bonds is THE gold standard for anti Planeswalker once flipped, but considering how little I see a fully flipped planeswalker (every color bar Green has a way to deal with them early) I don't know if it is worth it? Elves will just flood the board out again and again, and Thoptor can ignore the 2/2 elementals when Roil finally drops turn 4/5 due to the whole "flying" clause.

I think this deck is a good base. We will have to see what other enchantments come in newer sets that could help, but it's too single-target focused to deal with the top 2 aggro archetypes, and real control could just mill this away without a thought since Suppression Bonds doesn't prevent Sphinx's Tutelage from procing passively.

You must have missed the part where I said the deck was no good. Sigil just isn't a reliable wincon so the deck has trouble actually winning the game.

Totally missed that :P

Yeah, I played it a fair amount today and it just rarely won. I was really hopeful for it as it was probably the most interesting deck theory I have seen yet.
