Hammerfall - At The End of the Rainbow

I actually can't stand a lot of Hammerfall, they frequently try to fit words in their vocals that can't fit in where they put them and its incredibly jarring, but I actually quite like this song.

Another depressive black metal day. Thy Light, Nyktalgia, Austere, Hanging Garden. The feels I get from depressive BM are unmatched. I literally have not heard another form of music that is as emotive to me.

Japense music act Meeks or something covers Beatles songs in shoegaze style which is interesting, I think. I haven't listened to these songs in years but feel too similar to originals at times.

There are tracks on here I didn't like either because I think it was a too literal interpretation or they didn't really transform the the song past what it already was. I think the project is interesting though and has merit.

but maybe i think it could gaze more and some parts too similar to neu-gaze stuff which is not as difficult.

On the one hand, shoegaze... ( :) )

On the other, Beatles songs... ( :erk: )

I really loathe The Beatles.

As for shoegaze though, Ive been digging Alcest and The Depreciation Guild lately.

It's fine not to like something but understanding why something is contextually important is probably good.

I know why the Beatles are "important" but I find them to be really annoying/overrated, and I'd live my life a happy man if I never had to hear another Beatles song in my life.

Beatles are extremely important from an industry, cultural, production, everything standpoint. Calling that overrated is like saying the American Revolution is an overrated part of American history. Yeah, I don't want to hear anything about it again because I learned about it every single year until I went to college but at the same time you need to know your history.

Yes, just like how I respect metal music even though I don't like it. Everything has it's place in a long line of genres being combined, twisted, quoted, whatever. It's important to know about them but you don't need to enjoy them. Knowing the roots and heritage of the music you like is important if you want to enjoy the music in a way that is more than surface level.
