I had to start a thread like this after the game I just had. Sylvan Might (me) vs Guardians of Light. As soon as the game starts, I figure I'm in trouble. He gets a couple of Kor Spiritdancers out and I know a ton of enchantments are coming. But I have a Wellwisher, Essence Warden, and Imperious Perfect. So I think I might be able to outpace him by building up to gaining a bunch of life each turn and he'll draw himself to death. We're both playing 60-card decks, so this seems entirely doable. That is, until I remember that Admonition Angel is somewhere in there. I consider giving up, but decide to play it out anyway.

Cut to the end of the game. I have 7 elf tokens in play (got stuck at 2 mana for a long time, so the Perfect didn't get out soon enough), a Copperhorn Scout, a bunch of one- and two-drop 2/2 and 3/3 (with the Perfect) elves, and a Timberwatch Elf. But he has, with enchants, an 11/11 Auratouched Mage and 18/20 Spiritdancer with Celestial Mantle on it. He also has a bunch of the ancillary guys: Ajani's Sunstriker, Totem-guide Hartebeest, Blade of the Sixth Pride, and Healer of the Pride. That's why I haven't been able to attack up to this point.

He attacks and gets his life total up to 60+, thanks to the Mantle. I'm down to 23, but I can gain back 30 or so the next turn. Then I get it: Beastmaster Ascension. Drop it, attack, everything becomes 7/7+, and I win in one shot with 20 points of overkill. Completely unexpected since I rarely get the elf deck, it seems (I always play Random), and I forgot that the Ascension was even in there. Time to call it a night.

I cannot believe I almost let this slide out of my memory.
Random 4ffa the other night without a mic as I was listening to the radio and no one else had one.
One of the guys is playing AG and is just being a dick with attack frequency on all of us with no politic.
I have a plan that I'm hoping I can hatch because politics is a big part of the format.
I get plenty of mana out and a fist full of fatties. I had been using Imps as chumps only. Turned on my mic and asked if a Twincast was in the house as I'm messaging the D&B player about having Cerebral Vortex.
I get yes messages back.
My turn cast Windfall, MM dude does the Twincast. AG guy gets hit with Cerebral.
I forgot to tell the other guys that I planned on casting Living Death after it was all over.
I got one of my creatures Unsummoned and one burned but that was the extent as I took the two of them out.
Politics Gentlemen.

TNT on Saturday night. 4 way UB mirror match.
I'm stuck at 2 lands for most of the game...get #3 around turn 12.
With the rule set to only target the person to your left (or right?) there are 4 (I think) Extractor Demon's on the board (but not the person who would target me), I ended up winning by having the other 3 players run out of cards.

Kind of the other way around. I reanimate a turn 2 demon of death's gate. My opponent leaves as soon as he sees that. The AI ends up beating me. FML!

LOL, that sucks bro. I had a guy quit on a T2 Tidespout and the AI damn near took me out.

I can't remember all the details of this (it was a few months back) but it always makes me smile thinking about it. I'm playing Masks of the Dimir and my opponent is playing Chant of the Mul Daya. I played as well as I could but my opponent managed to get out Avenger of Zendikar and a whole host of tokens buffed up the wazoo. I'm sitting at 3 life points with nothing in my hand. I type 'GG' and await the final blow, he turns a pair of tokens to attack... and then pulls them back and end his turn. I draw another land (its always another land) and he throws everything he has against me... and then casts Tangle to negate the damage. He's actively extracting the urine at this point. So I draw and pull Reins of Power. He quit out before the impact - you'd think the very least he could do is take it to the face after everything he pulled. People these days.

Was he trying to build an overkill???
Bad way to go about it if he was.

Playing my newly tuned UB, I went up against a Firewave online. He had over 80 cards in his deck, so I assumed that it would be an easy match; but then DotP's 70+ card luck kicked in and he began annihilating me. Immediate Grim Lavamancer followed by all the burn he could lob at my face: Pillar of Flame, Searing Spear, Flames of the Firebrand. My Putrid Imp was quickly Outraged and he popped out a Regathan Firecat as well as a Crimson Mage. After all the chaos, the beating left me at only 1 health. While it had been alive, I had dumped everything I could into my graveyard with my Imp. I drop Living Death, flipping the table completely with an army capable of taking him out in two turns but I also had 1 health so I was prepared to lose. Pass to him, he sits there for a moment.. then drops a land. I hit him with everything expecting him to smack me in the face with something. Pass to him, he quits after a few moments and Chandra drops a Mountain. The 70+ Heart of the Cards failed him at the last moment.

This one was fairly recent. I'm playing against a guy who has 120 cards in every single one of his decks. I wasn't about to pass up such an opportunity for free wins so I stuck with him for a while, and at one point I wound up fighting his Hunter's Strength with my Hall of Champions. Although Kalonian Tusker with Elephant Guide and Vorapede both ate Bant Charm, they were just replaced by Rampaging Baloths and Vigor. Then he plays Overrun, forcing me to sacrifice everything in order to chump block and survive on 1 life.

What followed was the most ridiculous top deck war I've ever seen. I've got Martial Coup in hand, and I rip the seventh land I need to nuke the field, but then my opponent immediately rips the second Baloths. I then rip the second Martial Coup and nuke the field again, but he goes and rips Protean Hulk. I reply to that with Battlegrace Angel, but he pulls GSZ and digs for Primalcrux. The war finally ends when I rip Sublime Archangel, which combines with the Battlegrace and the tokens to put me out of the Primalcrux's range, and over the next couple of turns beats my opponent to death.

I had something very similar to Garren's story happen ages ago versus DW. If he'd just grinded me down I would've run out of chumps and lost, but I think he was newish and trying to be careful in case I was planning on pulling any Dimir trickery on him. I mean, if you don't know much about MotD other than it has a tendency to screw with you, you'd think that having more stuff on the board would be safer, right? But when he throws Grave Titan down to seal the deal, suddenly I'm Last Gasping my own chump and everything's hitting him instead.

I had this game literally 5 minutes ago. It was very bad from the start, didn't get the right colors in time to get enough exalted guys out, the only things saving me were a Bant Charm and 2 Pariahs. At the end my opponent gifted me with a win.

I think you guys'll be able to figure out what exactly happened. After my opponent realized what he'd done, it was just insta-quit

He casted Reins of Power after I declared Jenara, Asura of War as an attacker which triggered Finest Hour so I got to attack with all his creatures in my additional combat step

Yesterday I decided to test UB gather specimens.

First of all, it came out of the deck. The card sucks in it. However, there was a nice combo I did twice late game before cutting it.

Step One: 11 mana on field

Step Two: living death

Step Three: Gather specimens

Step Four: Go on to defeat your ai opponents
