This is what is going to hurt MBC the most I feel. There's a lot of life sacrificing cards, but really not any good lifegain to help offset that. Shadows of the past is the best, but that's not exactly reliable + very expensive.
The removal in the pool is alright, but you'll rarely be able to not take damage in the early game against aggro and the low amount of bombs make removal and especially exiling removal like Angelic Edict, very dangerous. There's a base here, but for the most part adding either or to the mix just seems like it'll make for a better deck overall. Red to go all in on the sacrifice theme and blue for better control options and taking care of the lifegain problem with Jorubai Murk Lurker.

Remember that aggro decks can easily push damage through vs black as well since despoiler can't block and shambling ghoul comes in tapped his first turn to. So with the life loss / draw cards theme might not work. I think we are overestimating mono black survivability a little bit. Black does have the strongest 5 drop in blood priest and the most useful 6 drop in kothophed but it is the early-mid game I am worried about. I am surprised no one took child of night for the leet healz.

My word. Shambling ghoul is unplayable imo (2/3 vanilla that can't even block 1st turn is just bad when played out of curve).

Child of night isn't solution, without bump or theme deck it's generally a "get 1 time 2 LP"...

I agree that the red splash might be the best solution.

I'd also recommend splashing red for Flameshadow Conjuring to abuse Priest of the Blood Rite and Fleshbag Marauder ETB.

I don't think Child of Night is unplayable here. Is it better than Perilous Myr though?

MBC flavour/purity aside, Jorubai Murk Lurker is a strong defender. Possessed Skaab can also buy us back a Languish :)

What is the payoff for playing mono black? If you want to play it because you like it, whether it be for old time sake or you are goth and everything must be black (you can hate my humor, it's ok!), that is fine and if so these lists are fine.

The reason I haven't played a mono black deck for ranked matches yet is because there are no payoff cards. No Corrupt, no Nightmare, no two and three drop cards with BB in their mana cost that are really good or available in 4 of's (therefore consistent). The result is you end up playing six to ten sub-par cards in your mono black deck, and if you add white, blue, red, or green you can play better cards. The lands available are good enough to warrant this, so it makes sense to play other colors.

Hopefully as the card pool grows we get more good black cards and more payoff cards, where we are now B/G does what mono black can do, just better. That said, I am sure there is fun to be had with mono black, sorry if I rained on anyone's sad, dark, swampland parade :)

Yeah pretty much, there isn't much of a reason to play mono black at this point. There's a couple of cards like Erebos's Titan and Despoiler of Souls that gets significantly easier to cast and obviously you get a lot more consistant manabase as in every mono colored deck, but the payoff really doesn't seem worth it compared to what you can get by adding another color.

That being said, some people like to make decks based on themes or to put limitations on themselves and I think that's cool. People should make whatever they want.

All of the mono-color decks benefit from being able to run as many of the colorless producing lands as they want to. Thopter Foundry is awesome. Rogue's Passage works great with certain strategies. The more colors you add, the more taplands you need to rely on, the less reliable your manabase is, and the less you can use the colorless lands.

Hm, why Child and not Shambling Ghoul? Life loss concerns, I suppose? Also, I'm disappointed in a lack of Priests :) But may be it's just me, I like having some heavy end in my controls.

Also, removal package of four 5cmc spells might be too heavy for a meta with so little bombs :)

All in all, looks neat, plenty of GY play, I like it. You might also consider Shadows of the Past with all the saccing going on. Then you'll have an additional advantage after saccing Corpse Hauler.

So much draw in an aggressive deck? Are our options so limited to warrant that?
I would run 4 Shambling Ghoul, they're a solid 2-drop. Not sure if you really need 4 Corpse Hauler, Child of Night may even be better here.
Maybe the current pool doesn't allow it yet, but to me that does not seem like a proper aggro deck.

I second that. Black aggro is not a good idea at the moment. It will lose to any other aggro at speed and tools.
