At first I was like 'What, why would I do that? You havent put anyone else on the spot like that.' Then I remembered you've seen the card name, and are making the same assumptions I made about how broken it could be, when I picked it. Its decent for a game of mafia, but it is not broken (Like I secretly hoped it would be when I picked it).

This is probably the strangest start of a Mafia game I've ever seen, and I've played some pretty weird stuff in this very forum, some of them made by Zinger too.

I'm wondering right now if razor's real reason to activate his ability now was to ask for the mass-claim... And, by the way he worded his post, it really seems to me he was asking for actual abilities instead of just card names. Hmmm... thoughts?

yes, that was my intent. at the time Rubik hadn't claimed full knowledge of everyone's card names, so it seemed like a good way to get a set-up known without exposing power roles, because a better working understanding of the playing field benefits the town as long as it doesn't unduly help the mafia target. with the role out there that knows everyone's card names, that play becomes less good because if that ability's in mafia hands they can then reassociate that information.

if you decide my previous role is a danger, we can force whoever currently has it to claim it and I can investigate them

fishing is looking for power roles. we're in a unique situation where everyone here has knowledge of one other player's ability, so if they claim that, we protect the identities while giving the town the lay of the land so we can strategize better.

How could you force an unknown person to claim a known role? Honestly curious.



Well, you were looking for power roles, even if in an unorthodox way (and we are in an unorthodox situation). As I said, I'm still not sure what to think of it. Let's say it rubs me the wrong way, but I have yet to see a reason to turn that into a Mafia read.

Regretfully, I will be looking for a replacement for PariahKing. The replacement will join in with a new role based on a card they chose, instead of reprising PK's original or new role. If I am unable to find a replacement by the end of the Day, I will instead be forced to ModKill the player slot to ensure the game smoothly progresses without complications.

Lilan, my slotted replacement, is MIA for the time being. If you know someone else who might be interested, send them my way.

Yeah, it is. Ah well. Thems the rules as I made them, and I am not a fan of changing rules mid game unless there's a hugely strong reason for it.

I had a change of heart. Razor is actually right about claiming the abilities of the cards we used to have as far as I am concerned. If the abilities are used later in a negative way to impact the town, we know what to look for. Not to mention it'll give us a good starting point of who to look at if some people don't feel like complying with this.

And I'll start it off again (since no one is actually claiming their cards yet either).

I already claimed my original card that I had. It was Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. He has several abilities:

A day passive: If he's voting for the person who is lynched at the end of the day, it gives him a charge of his role blocking ability. If he's the hammer vote on said lynch, it gives him a charge to his kill ability.

Night passive: At night he can use one of his two abilities if they have a charge.
- Night ability 1: Role block someone. Starts with 2 (or 3) charges. I'm going off of memory atm so spare me.
- Night ability 2: Kill target player. Starts with 0 charges.

And now you know.

no, razor isn't right, because Rubik's role exists. someone out there knows who is what currently, and that person could easily be mafia. if that's the case, then that person can backtrace the claimed roles to their new owners, meaning we do wind up outing our power roles.
